Story
Rags may be little but he sure is mighty! This feisty little guy was rescued from a high kill shelter. He is looking for an active family that can give him lots of daily exercise and training. With his favourite people he will jump us for some pets and love. However, Rags is looking for an experienced home that will continue his training and management with resource guarding. Rags can bite when guarding food or objects. Due to this he will need an adult-only family who can work with our trainers to provide a smooth transition to his forever home. Although Rags is generally good with dogs he can be unpredictable with guarding around animals, so he would do best as the only pet in the home. His favourite things include going for long walks on sunny days, and running around in the yard. He is treat motivated and loves to learn new things with a clicker.

However, there are times where he barks at dogs who are too aggressive or dogs who bark at them. ▶ Relationship with cats: Hasn’t been in same space with cats, but barks at cats passing by the fence. ▶ Relationship between people: Loves human and being alongside for long period. Loves meeting people when going for walks. Mary sticks her head towards people, as if wanting to be seen. Loves human more than other dogs. If other dogs run towards her owner or seems to bother them, she would bark at them to stop. ▶ Leash training: She is family and doesn’t have aversion towards harness; she enjoys them since she know it means going for a walk. Special note: As a side effect from measle, has tic symptoms, weak front legs and inablity to produce tears. Due to weak front legs, may have some amount of shaking but has no problem at all to go for a walk. Slippery floors may casue her to slip some times but other than that, there are no problems. Mary's left eye has a bit of murky makrs which are improving over time. She has been puting artifical tears to help it. Mary used to have a paralysis on left part of her, but she was desperate to heal, that she overcame it. Her strong will is making her healthier daily.

Story
My name is Millie, but I also come to Silly Millie, Mildred and Millicent if my foster mama is teasing me. I don’t care as long as she is calling me for snuggles or hugs or maybe to eat I am happy. I am a super happy loving girl who gets so happy to see people and I will wiggle my tail so fast I have to make sure my legs don’t come off the ground. For a senior of 14 years I am still very spry! I am a very easy going girl and love to eat my meals, usually just once a day and I like you to be close so you can see how well I do. I only have two tooffers left so I eat a mix of kibble and homemade food. I also like dried chicken strips and I get them cup up so I can gobble them down. At bedtime I run into my crate and get snuggled in with all my blankets and have my treat and then sleep through the night. I am a quiet content girl and can be left for periods of time with no issues but when you come back I will wiggle and giggle and be so happy to see you again. I love to snuggle and share a chair with you and also I love to share breakfast if you have toast. I am a very easy going laid back girl. I am living in a pack now and I wasn’t sure at first but it will be okay if I am an only dog or if there is another one. I am much better going into a pack so I should be a second not a first one. I am not high energy and I am reactive to other dogs on walks but getting so much better. I am equally content to have a backyard to explore and I am content with a quiet lifestyle. I do have a high prey drive when it come to pesky creatures so none in the house please. Honestly I am such a good well behaved girl and truly would like someone who is looking for a best friend who needs lots of cuddles and adoring glances sent their way. A dinner companion to stand by me and make me feel safe and connected. I have only had a few tinkle accidents in the first few days of settling in and getting used to things but now use the outside toilet. If I were to be summed in a few words it would be. Loving, sweet, gentle, cuddler, and sometimes vocal when I want it and a people pleaser for sure. Millie is being lovingly fostered in Angus, ON If you are interested in welcoming Millie into your home, please compete an application to adopt her from our website https://www.jrnc.org/adoption-application

Story
Mila is a 2 year old terrier/hound mix (likely JRT & Beagle) weighing approx 27 lbs. She loves her humans very much and is very playful and affectionate with them. Mila did not start her life off in a bad way but she did miss out on training, boundaries and socialization. For this reason, Mila has spent time with a professional trainer who has fallen in love with her. Unfortunately, there are limits to the number of dogs a person can have! She loves the outdoors and play time! She’s a very active girl and would do great with a dominant larger dog, she can be too rambunctious for a small dog. Mila is an excellent girl at home when you have to go out, just make sure you have the perfect window for her to neighborhood watch from! She is obviously a high energy girl but likes nothing more than to be tucked in beside her person on the couch!! She gives great hugs and kisses!! Mila will require an experienced owner and home without children under the age of 7. She loves kids but is still learning boundaries. Her adopter will be able to take advantage of some professional advise from her trainer in order to keep Mila improving. Training consistency will be key to keeping Mila on track with her progression. Mila is currently being fostered in Newmarket, ON. If you are interested in adopting Mila, please complete an application on our website: https://www.jrnc.org/adoption-application
