Stilton has his opinions about Life: People are good. Other dogs are good. Toys are good. Food is REALLY good. Squirrels, not so much. This contented 6-year-old has pretty much mastered the art of keeping a household running happily. Doorbells and the newcomers they announce are to be barked at, but just long enough to ensure that they notice his waggy little 11-lb. self so that they offer the necessary attention and pats. Other dogs are to be welcomed as companions, even when they hog the toys, dog beds, and laps. Boundaries are to be respected--like wastebaskets, tabletops, laundry, and pillows. Humans are to be responded to when they call... unless of course there has been a squirrel sighting. Walks are for fun, and dinner is for pure pleasure. The outdoors is for exploring but also for pottying (after a routine has been established and plentiful opportunities offered!). And bellies are definitely for rubbing. If you have a household that could use an infusion of personality and spunk, Stilton would like to apply for the position. This quiet, gentle, mild-mannered girl is Fontina, a 3-year-old, 19 lb. sweetheart. Fontina is at ease meeting new people and new dogs, but she is apprehensive about new environments and sudden, unexpected noises, preferring to keep her distance a bit before determining that there is no danger. She very much likes going for walks and is confident on leash, but otherwise has just moderate energy, enjoying frequent naps in safe locations -- like under a bed or in the foot-well of a desk. She will closely follow "her" people around the house, often quite close at foot, but she isn't otherwise clingy or demanding. She gets most animated when you sit on a sofa and invite her up... then she is all about cuddling, presenting her belly for rubs, and playing a bit of "hand" with her mouth -- but if you don't want to play "hand," she is extremely responsive to a simple verbal "uh-uh". Fontina is reliably house-trained (she will go right to the door when you say "Let's go outside" and then promptly do her business), assuming she is given adequate outdoor opportunity. She doesn't like being in a crate (possibly because it signifies a car ride, and she does sometimes get car sick) but when she is required to be in a crate, she accepts it quietly and calmly. Based on physical characteristics and temperament, we believe that Fontina is a rat terrier/Boston Terrier mix. LOCAL ADOPTION ONLY. Peabody is a 2-year-old Rat Terrier mix (we think). He was pulled into our rescue from an over-crowded, rural, KY shelter because he was not tolerating the environment well and was shut down. He was terrified when first arriving at his fosters home. It took time…but not much. We have video evidence that he is a Velcro mix. He likes dogs about his size, but gets passive-aggressive with bigger dogs. Meaning he runs his mouth. He would have no problem with another, playful dog or being the one-and-only. He likes to watch TV on the couch, beside you, with his eyes closed. He will be the big spoon every night and knows how to fit perfectly into the small of your back. Peabody will likely need the expected 3 days to decompress in a new environment. But once he has stopped fretting, he’ll be melting like butter in your lap. We think Peabody needs to find that doesn’t require transport, so applications must be local to TN. I need to be adopted in Crossville, Tennessee. FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN. The adoption fee Includes Age-Appropriate Vaccinations (DA2PPV, Bordetella, Rabies), Deworming, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Flea/Tick/Heartworm Prevention, and Sheltering.
