Story
If you're into lowriders, Pokey might just be your guy. He's on the small side, 17 lbs., has the short legs of a dachshund and the cute face of a chihuahua. He's trained to use a doggie door and housetrained! Pokey came in with his brother Gumby when their owners lost their home. He came to live with us while he waits on his perfect new family. He is shy, and a bit afraid of new people. A home with a fenced yard will help with socializing Pokey. He need leash training, but with a yard would give him the confidence to go straight out.To adopt this pet, please go to hsnwga.org, 'Adoption' then 'Application for Adoption', to complete an online application to be preapproved. Story
Meet Ferris! How many ways can you say, sweet, playful, goofball and fun? Ferris, the Border Collie / Rat Terrier blend. Sadly, Ferris came back to us through no fault of her own. Her life was not ideal, however, she has persevered, is doing amazing and embraces each day with a huge smile on her face. Funny, personality plus, cute, adventurous and only wants to please. She's learning her commands and brings lots of humor while learning them. Ferris is good with other dogs, gets along with cats and should be great with kids. Shy and a bit guarded when she meets new people,(due to previous life) however, she warms up quickly and the love and attention flows. Did I mention she is housetrained?Come meet this wonderful, loving gal, promise she'll bring a smile to your face.To adopt this pet, please go to hsnwga.org, 'Adoption' then 'Application for Adoption', to complete an online application to be preapproved. Story
Yoshi is about 4 years old, exact age unknown. We found him as a stray in July 2021. Life was manageable with two other dogs. As a stray, he showed signs of possible past trauma. Within the first year, he grew to trust us and became very lovable and loyal towards those he felt comfortable with. He loves petting, playing, and running. A perfect lap dog for those who give him love and attention. He takes monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks, and heart worms, and daily trazodone for anxiety. Very healthy now, but after having 2 kids, the resulting environment has proven too stressful, and his behavior has regressed. Common triggers are food competition, perceived threats, or feeling cornered. May bark, jump, or bite if triggered. He would do well in a home without small children and few or no other pets. Having a large yard to play in or time for walks is a plus. He still has a tendency to tug and bark while walking, so more leash training is needed. Any questions, just ask! Thank you!
