Story
What's a 7(ish) year-old gentleman do when his person passes away and he is suddenly separated from her and his 11 canine siblings? Well, close down a bit at first, of course. But Cheddar seems to be pretty resilient and willing to embrace a new world, provided the introductions are gradual. This 16 lb. fellow is low-key, quiet, and very well behaved, but he's hand-shy and slow to trust. He'll accept new canine family members a bit quicker than human ones, so patience and understanding are required. His house-training and other house manners have been very good, and he's making steady progress on leash walking. Napping on the couch or in a shady spot in the yard is a favorite activity, and he will occasionally entertain himself with a soft squeakie toy. You can see the potential that this handsome dude has when you look at the photos and videos in his online photo album at  http://www.ImageEvent.com/beales/fosters/cheddar  .   If you are interested in adopting this dog, PLEASE READ THE DETAILED ADOPTION PROCESS information on our website at www. Story
Peppy, sociable, confident Pepper Jack is full of energy and curiosity. He spent the last six months living outside so he was elated to come into foster care and regain his place as a couch-lounging, snuggle-seeking, toy-playing family member! Pepper Jack is now 5 years-old and weighs 16 lbs. He absolutely loves people and greets newcomers with interest and friendliness. Small children, however, might find his greeting a bit too bouncy and enthusiastic. Pepper Jack has lived with other dogs almost his entire life and does well with them for the most part, but he got used to having to be assertive with his 3 much larger former siblings and hasn't yet completely gotten over his bossy ways. If the other dogs aren't trying to share "his" food and toys, he is content to live and let live. While he might even occasionally try to initiate a bit of play with them, his preference is to play with his humans. House-training wasn't the problem we thought it might be after he had lived so long outdoors; while he did quite a bit of attempted marking in his first few days, that is a thing of the past and he is now proving that he is quite reliable.    Pepper Jack loves hearing "Let's go outside" then zooming around the yard in great circles for the sheer joy of it. If his new home doesn't have a fenced yard, there will need to be a specific plan in place for how he will get ample opportunity to run securely off-leash on a very regular basis. Pepper Jack also loves going for walks, getting cuddles and belly rubs, removing toys from the toy box over and over, and posing for the camera. Speaking of the camera, please visit his photo album at  http://www.ImageEvent.com/beales/fosters/PepperJack   for lots more photos and some videos.
