We are ready to leave the nest and move into our OWN families so we can be super spoiled and super loved! We are Jack Russell mixed pups, maybe with a little chihuahua?? Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix and weighs about nine pounds. He is 1 1/2 years old and was found abandoned and never claimed. He is great on a leash and loves to run and play in the shelter yard. He has such fun with the toys and especially enjoys the tennis balls. He likes to be petted and cuddled and carried around and is such a friendly, good-natured little dog. He looks so adorable curled up on his bed in his kennel. He would do best in a home without young children- he is protective of his food and treats. Austin is a male Rat terrier who’s approx 3 yrs old.  His momma is his person.  He is fearful of men, has never shown aggression, ( possibly some mistreatment in his past home life) he just stands far away and barks. With some time, yummy treats and patience he could come around nicelyHe gets along fine with other dogs but does not seek them out to play or for comfort. So he would probably love a home as an only dog and with a momma his primary care giver. Update 5/23/23: You ever have one of those fosters that makes you want to pull your hair out and cry? Meet Charlie Paris … aka Charlie Parker (his bark sounds like a saxophone, but not in a good way) … aka Charlie Barker (he likes to toot his horn at all hours of the day and night) aka Charlie Brown (cause no one wants this sad, broken dog). He’s so pitiful, with his collapsing trachea and bow-legged knees, you can’t help but love him, even if you want to kill him when he wakes you up at 3 am for the fifth night in a row. Posting this in hopes that someone, for whatever reason, will see this sweet, awful boy and want to scoop him up and take him home.Update 1/28/23: Here’s a Pupdate on Charlie Paris, aka “Charlie Parker” (When he barks it sounds like he’s tooting a horn). This old boy is supposedly 10 but I’d wager he’s older…he spends most of the day snuggled up in his crate…his choice, the door is always open and there are dog beds everywhere…he likes the crate and has laid claim to it. He’s not really interested in the other dogs in the house, but here he is checking out new foster Birdie (stay tuned for more on her later). Charlie likes a little snuggle and scratch here and there but otherwise keeps to himself. Would make good companion dog for older, or less active, human. He has bad luxating patella’s so doesn’t walk far. Also has collapsing trachea so needs to be in a calm environment. He is loved in our foster home while he waits for his furever family.This is Charlie Paris. As you can see he gets himself into some interesting situations . Charlie is about 10 years old, mostly housebroken, and full of personality. He tolerates the other dogs in the house but mostly keeps to himself. He prefers to sleep in his own crate but likes to snuggle on the couch with his foster mom. Charlie has terrible luxating patellas in both hind legs so we keep the walks short. He also has pretty severe collapsing trachea so he needs to be in a calm environment with not too much excitement. He would make a great senior companion. In the meantime, he’s getting lots of love in his current foster home.Available dogs are met by pre-approved adopters ONLY after a match is made.The application is the first step.
