He has mastered house training and loves being outside. We hope someone will give this sweet little guy a chance. He deserves the best. Meet Sammie! Sammie is a 7 year old, 8 pound, rat terrier mix. He was surrendered by his owner to the rescue because she could no longer care for him due to health issues. Sammie is a little confused but making foster friends and enjoying the fenced yard in his foster home. He even came to foster mom for chin scratches this morning. He has only lived with an older lady. He will need time to warm up to gentlemen. They will need to take it slow. He does take a little bit to trust new people. But his whole world has been turned upside down. We understand he needs time to adjust and we will allow him the time he needs to find the right home for him. A quiet home with consistent care and a fenced yard will suit him best. He LOVES being outside. Sammie has been neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested and brought up to date on the required vaccines. He is ready to be adopted in the next week after he heals. He's a sweet little guy! Best friend Buddy is the total package. He loves people and greets everyone, always eager for attention.   At 12, Buddy ended up in a rural Tennessee shelter. We do not know his backstory or why such a sweet boy would land in a shelter. We may never know.     At Critter Cavalry, we adore seniors and believe they deserve every chance to find a loving home. You won’t regret considering Buddy—he loves everyone, whether human or animal. Buddy is everyone’s best friend.     Buddy is healthy for a senior. He has limited sight and hearing, but is otherwise in good shape. He navigates his foster home easily and enjoys exploring the fenced yard. He comes when called—just use a louder voice.   Buddy is ready to retire with a couple eager to add him to their family. He’d love a fenced yard to explore—size isn’t important—and an active retirement with short walks and car rides. Why not pick a pretty Posey? Pretty and sweet, she is as delightful as her name suggests! Weighing around 17 lbs. and approximately 3-4 years-old, Posey is great with humans and other dogs, house-trained, walks beautifully on a leash (unless she spots a squirrel), and is an all-around very good girl. She is super affectionate, seeking out head pats and belly rubs wherever she can, and she loves curling up next to her humans at bedtime. She also loves taking afternoon naps in the sunshine, patrolling the backyard for critters, and wrestling with her canine foster sister. Her foster family has had so much fun hosting her, but it's time for Posey to find her forever home. Posey's ideal family would have another playful fur-sibling, as well as someone active to take her on long walks. Might that someone be you?   Hello, my name is Poppy. I weigh around 18 lbs., and my foster family thinks I am only 1-2 years old! When I first got to my foster home, I was afraid of many things and very shy, but I am learning that life is not so scary. My foster family has many words to describe me: goofy, playful, enthusiastic, loving, snuggly, and very sweet. And did I mention I'm house-trained? I also sleep quietly in my crate at night, although I would love sleeping in bed with my humans just as much. I am still not comfortable walking on a leash, and I startle at loud noises, so my forever home will need a fenced yard so I can show off my house-training. I would also love another confident younger dog to help me continue learning to be my best self. I am learning to keep all four paws on the ground when I get excited, which means I probably shouldn't go to a family with small children – I might knock them over with my long legs. Story
Max is a sweet 8 year-old, 20 lb. male rat terrier mix who has a calm temperament and personality.  He can be a little shy at first but once he is comfortable he is more than ready sit with you and give you kisses. He wants to be where his people are and loves to get attention. He recently learned that he likes getting his paws wet at the beach and going evening golf cart rides!   Max gets along with other dogs and with the 2 cats in his foster home.  He would do best in a home with adults and older children -- he is not up for the challenge of living with young humans.  He is potty trained and walks well on a leash. Once he is done outside he is ready to come back inside and be a couch potato. Max is crate trained but can be left loose in the house. Max had surgery on his left hip to have cancer removed. A biopsy reported no cancer in the remaining tissue and a 90% probability he is cancer free. With that being said he has weakness in his back end which causes him to be a little slow going up and down stairs but outside he does fine. The vet thinks he may have spinal nerve damage that cannot be repaired. Max struggles with incontinence -- in the morning, he sprinkles urine and drops feces while walking. He has no control over this and does not realize it is happening. Sadly, the vet does not believe this can be cured, only managed with pads and diapering. Pretty Daisy is a 5-year-old, 10 lb. Chihuahua/rat terrier mix who was rescued from a Georgia shelter after her owner passed away. She's a tiny, delicate, 100% good girl with a sweet nature, a growing sense of adventure, and some very definite opinions about how life should be lived.   At home, Daisy loves being close to her foster mom and foster brother, burrowing under blankets for naps, finding a sunny spot to lounge in, and enjoying what she believes should be an endless supply of food and treats. She also has a playful side and loves soft, fluffy toys that she can fling around, chase, and play fetch with. Daisy is house-trained as long as she's given regular opportunities to go outside.   Daisy has become much more excited about walks and outings as she's settled into foster life. She loves exploring and sniffing everything along the way—the flowers, the grass, that particularly interesting spot on the sidewalk. She's also always happy to stop for pets from people and say hello to furry friends along the way. Any potential adopters should know: this is Daisy's world, and we are just living in it!   Daisy would love a canine companion close to her size and temperament. Because she's such a little, delicate dog and has shown some mild resource guarding with her foster brother, she'd do best in an adult-only home or one with older, dog-savvy children.
