He has mastered house training and loves being outside. We hope someone will give this sweet little guy a chance. He deserves the best. Meet Sammie! Sammie is a 7 year old, 8 pound, rat terrier mix. He was surrendered by his owner to the rescue because she could no longer care for him due to health issues. Sammie is a little confused but making foster friends and enjoying the fenced yard in his foster home. He even came to foster mom for chin scratches this morning. He has only lived with an older lady. He will need time to warm up to gentlemen. They will need to take it slow. He does take a little bit to trust new people. But his whole world has been turned upside down. We understand he needs time to adjust and we will allow him the time he needs to find the right home for him. A quiet home with consistent care and a fenced yard will suit him best. He LOVES being outside. Sammie has been neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested and brought up to date on the required vaccines. He is ready to be adopted in the next week after he heals. He's a sweet little guy! Meet Kallen !! **Recently neutered, adoption radius extended** This little guy is a lot of fun and loves everyone. A happy boy for sure. Very friendly and outgoing. He would be a great dog for someone wanting to go on outings or adventures but is also happy to just be your bestie at home. Kallen is a Male, approx. 4 year old, Chihuahua mix best guess but he doesn’t really act like a chi at all. He weighs 13.7 pounds and is full grown. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. He is Heartworm negative and on preventatives. Kallen ended up at the shelter after he was found as a stray. He had part of a tie out line still attached to his collar. He’s been nothing but happy and grateful since we took him from the shelter. He is fostered with many other dogs of all ages and sizes including other unfixed males. He does great with all of them but would also be fine without another dog. He enjoys running the yard with the other dogs. He was a big humper of dogs (male and female) but his recent neuter already has reduced that a lot in just a few days. He recently met cats and after learning about cat claws once he decided to cohabitate peacefully lol. He was never aggressive toward them just tried to play which they didn’t appreciate. He met a few kids so far and did really well with them. He does do a lot of jumping up on people so that should be considered with small kids. He needs to be with kids old enough to not treat him like a toy. Kallen is great in the car. He also does well with the leash but pulls some when excited. He’s crate trained and goes in when asked. He’s fine crated for a full work day. He can be a bit vocal in the crate but mostly when he sees you doing things with other dogs and wants to be a part of it. He’s done well with potty training but still has some accidents when he’s anxious. He has a medium energy level. He has a spunky side and loves to run around. He’s easily excitable and fun. He also has no trouble being crated all day while you’re at work. As long as he gets that energy and excitement out he can relax and chill. He loves to be right with you or sit on your lap but isn’t really a lapdog. He’s more fun and active and ready for adventures. After he gets his energy out he is much more relaxed. Kallen so far has not shown any food, toy or treat aggression toward people or other dogs. He currently eats in his crate. He’s very treat motivated and takes treats gently. He loves to pal around with you while you do yard work or anything you’re doing. He was a good boy at the vet. He does very well with strangers and seems to be happy wherever he is and whoever he is with. If you are looking for a fun, loving and happy smaller guy then he may be the one! He has a great personality and a love of life. Vet and home checks required Located in Hampton VA.
