Story
👗ELLIE👗👛Ellie is a 3.5 year old Redbone coonhound. She weighs 75 pounds and is a very boisterous girl! Ellie is strong when walking on leash when her nose gets the best of her or something excites her. Her idea of greeting you includes running directly at you at full speed and flinging herself into the air as if you are going to re-create the famous lift from Dirty Dancing. She’s not sorry about it either. Once she settles down she gives great hugs and gentle kisses. This one’s eyes will look deep into your soul. LOVES food. 💄Ellie is not cut out for the apartment life - she talks back… a lot. A physical fenced in yard is preferred to keep her safe from her own nose getting her into trouble. Ellie likes other dogs but sometimes Ellie can be too much for the other dog at first. No cats or other small animals. She is fine with kids but again; she is rambunctious and 75 pounds. 👡Ellie is potty trained, working on crate training and rides well in the car. She is very smart and would do well with some obedience training - especially if there is treats involved. 💅🏼Ellie is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm tested negative and on heartworm prevention. She will be spayed this week. Ellie is currently being treated for Lyme disease and bacteria in her left ear. Story
Slinky is one of 11 hound mixes that rescuers in rural SW Oklahoma saved from a property where they barely had any shelter and fed inconsistently. Several rescues stepped in to take the dogs. I took 3. They are about 9 months old. And despite their horrible start in life all 3 of them have wonderful personalities and are super sweet. They are big, calm and great with other dogs and cats, including kittens. Shy at first but always friendly. They are not high energy and they do not bark or howl like you would expect from a hound. If you want a chill dog that is big, Slinky is your match. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tacoma, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) - Vermont (Brattleboro) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative). Adoption fee: $500 (includes the $250 cost of transport from Oklahoma and all vetting listed above) Adoption application (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://form.jotform.com/82677586784176 FAQs (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://docs.google.com/document/d/12eb_SRtk1AzaBl87UltcLJ24MjH9UhQm_LE77iWZEQA/edit?tab=t.0 Desiderata Rescue is Oklahoma Licensed Rescue #95

Story
Meet Pam!Pam came to FDHS at just over a year old after being rescued from a hoarding situation while carrying her first litter of puppies. She brought them into the world and raised them with every bit of love she had. Now that all of her babies have been adopted and started new lives of their own, it is finally Pam’s turn to be the one cared for.Since settling into a wonderful foster home with her sister Yasmine, Pam has bloomed in the sweetest ways. She has discovered how fun toys can be, how comforting a warm bed feels, and how special it is to be part of a family. She has grown into a loving, playful, happy girl, and we are endlessly grateful for her foster who helped her heart open up.Pam is still learning about the world, but she surprises us every day with her courage and the progress she continues to make. She will need a home with another dog who can help guide her and give her a buddy to play with. A fenced yard is best as she continues practicing her leash skills, and having a canine companion (maybe even Yasmine) will help her feel safe as she settles in. Experience with rescues is preferred but not required. With her gentle nature and sweet heart, we know Pam will fit beautifully into a kind and patient household, whether it has two legged or four legged family members waiting for her.Pam is officially ready to begin her next chapter, and she has so much love waiting for the family that finally calls her their own.
