Story
Slinky is one of 11 hound mixes that rescuers in rural SW Oklahoma saved from a property where they barely had any shelter and fed inconsistently. Several rescues stepped in to take the dogs. I took 3. They are about 9 months old. And despite their horrible start in life all 3 of them have wonderful personalities and are super sweet. They are big, calm and great with other dogs and cats, including kittens. Shy at first but always friendly. They are not high energy and they do not bark or howl like you would expect from a hound. If you want a chill dog that is big, Slinky is your match. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Thanks to a generous grant from the Robert H. Reakirt Foundation, my adoption fee is partially sponsored! My new family can take me home for $125. Meet Copper! Copper is a 7.5-year-old, 65lb redbone coonhound mix who loves squeaky toys, long walks, and cuddling on the couch. There’s so many reasons to love Copper, let us tell you about them! This handsome man is potty trained, crate trained (goes in when asked & rests quietly till you return) and knows commands. Copper's ideal match would be a family who would play fetch and take him on regular walks, let him plop next to them for belly rubs & cuddles and would spoil him with toys and kongs! Copper would thrive in a home with a yard where he can play and explore. He’s not like your typical hound- sniffing isn’t his main focus and he quickly comes when called! He’s also a controlled barker, only letting out a howl when he’s got something real important to share! Not to mention- he loves other dogs, big and small! This adorable goofball is looking for his furever family, maybe that could be you! Copper is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. His adoption fee is $125.00. EJ is a fun, young hound. He needs someone active, with a big outdoor life that will take him on adventures. He is affectionate and loyal to those who show him love. He would prefer to be the only dog as he doesn't like to share. He is not good with cats or other smaller animals or small people.
