Hi there!!! We are Rex and Farrah! I, Rex, am 8 years old and Farrah is 5. We are both Redbone Coonhounds. We had an owner, but unfortunately they had to move and couldn’t take us along. We love each other very much, and we need to stay together. We have both had training, walk great on a leash, and get along great with humans of all sizes and other doggies. You definitely should come meet us! We are currently open Wednesday-Thursday by appointment only (closed Tuesdays), Fri through Monday 12-5, no appointment necessary during those hours. Facebook comments and questions are NOT monitored. If you have questions or would like to schedule an appointment during the week, please email us at dogs@southhillspetrescue.org. No calls please!! Hi everyone! My name is Buddy, and I’m a 9-month-old, 79-pound Redbone Coonhound/St. Bernard mix. Yes, you read that right I’m still a puppy, even though I’m already a big boy! Some people might call me a gentle giant, and I think that’s a pretty good description.One of my favorite things in the whole world is meeting people! I have never met a stranger, and I’m always happy to make new friends. I’ve had the opportunity to meet several groups of volunteers who have come to the shelter to help out, and I’ve been told that I’m quite the gentleman. I don’t jump all over everyone or get wild and crazy. Instead, I’m usually just a big, happy, wiggly boy who is thrilled to say hello.My early start in life wasn’t quite what it should have been, and because of that, I missed out on some of the experiences and lessons that puppies normally get when they’re growing up. So, I’m still learning some important things like housebreaking, leash walking, and basic manners. But here’s the thing—I’m ready to learn! I’m still just a puppy, and I have so much growing and learning ahead of me. Every day at the shelter gives me another opportunity to discover something new, and I’m hoping my forever family will be willing to continue that journey with me.I’m also good with other dogs, and my sweet, goofy personality tends to win people over pretty quickly. I’m a big boy with a big heart, and I have a whole lot of love to give. What I need now is a family who understands that even though I may look like a full-grown dog, I’m still a puppy on the inside. I’ll need patience, consistency, training, exercise, and plenty of opportunities to experience all the wonderful things I’ve missed. In return, I promise to bring plenty of happiness, wiggles, goofy puppy antics, and unconditional love into your life.I’ve had a rough beginning, but I’m ready to start the next chapter and I think it could be my best one yet.If you’re looking for a big, sweet, gentle puppy with an even bigger heart, come meet me.
