PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.Meet Ladybird the Redbone Coonhound. We will have more info soon!  She is spayed, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.  Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion. Meet Dozer, a hound mix with big, fat paws, an even bigger head, and irresistible wrinkles that will make you smile! 🐾❤️ Life hasn't always been easy for this sweet boy. Before coming into rescue, he spent much of his time outdoors without many of the comforts most dogs take for granted. He has a few scars that tell the story of his past, but he's ready to leave those days behind and enjoy the good life! And he's already discovering just how wonderful that life can be! Soft beds, cozy couches, tasty treats, and toys are all things he's learning to appreciate. He likes people, enjoys affection, and is pretty okay with a little grooming. Loud noises can occasionally startle him, but he's a sweet, good-natured guy who just needs a little reassurance. Dozer is a hound through and through! His nose leads the way, he loves to explore, and he alerts the pack with an adorable, soulful howl whenever emergency vehicles pass by with their sirens going. He's also a little clumsy at times, which only adds to his charm! Because he hasn't had much experience with leash walking or formal training, he'll need someone willing to help him learn. He's a strong boy who will sometimes pull on leash, so a secure, properly fitted harness is important. He also has a tendency to mark, so he'll benefit from consistency and patience as he adjusts to indoor living. He does know to go potty outside in the yard and on walks. Crates aren't his favorite, and he'd much rather have a comfortable spot to relax. He can coexist with larger, calm dogs but would do best in a home without small dogs, puppies, or cats due to his strong prey drive. His ideal home? A patient, loving family that understands hounds, appreciates their quirky personalities, and is ready to show this deserving boy what being a cherished family member is all about. Dozer also has chronic dry eyes and needs his family to give him drops twice a day to help him produce tears. After seven years of making do with so little, he's ready for a soft place to land, a little guidance, and a whole lot of love. This is what RESCUE is all about! ❤️

Story
Slinky is one of 11 hound mixes that rescuers in rural SW Oklahoma saved from a property where they barely had any shelter and fed inconsistently. Several rescues stepped in to take the dogs. I took 3. They are about 11 months old. And despite their horrible start in life all 3 of them have wonderful personalities and are super sweet. They are very big, calm and great with other dogs and cats. Shy at first but always friendly. They do bark at the fence if another dog is on the other side but that's pretty common with a lot of dogs. If you want a chill dog that is big, Slinky is your match. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found.
