Story
Pluto has been part of our family for the last 4 years after we rescued him from a shelter when he was about 9 months old. He’s grown up with our two young kids, our other dogs, and even our cats. He’s incredibly loving, social, great with kids, and happiest when he’s around people or other dogs. This is an extremely difficult post for us to make because we love Pluto deeply and never imagined we’d be in this position. Our family is preparing for a major cross country move related to our son’s medical condition, and we’ve had to face the reality that we may no longer be able to give Pluto the exercise, space, and consistent attention he truly deserves. There’s a lot of heartbreak and guilt in even considering this, but we care about him enough to put his long term happiness first. We’d love to find him a home where he’ll have room to run, interaction with other dogs, and people who will truly make him part of the family.

Story
WATCH MY VIDEO...Casey is the kind of dog who makes it easy to fall in love. This beautiful 3-year-old was surrendered when her family felt they no longer had the time to care for her. While they had only been together for a short time, Casey once again finds herself searching for the one thing every dog deserves: a forever home where she is truly part of the family. Her previous family described her as playful, loving, affectionate, and happiest when she`s spending time with her people. She enjoys walks, trips to the dog park, and plenty of attention. Casey is housebroken, crate trained, knows commands such as `sit,` `stay,` and `go,` and is highly food motivated, making continued training a fun and rewarding experience. Since arriving at the shelter, Casey has impressed staff and volunteers with her sweet and gentle nature. While she can be a little shy when meeting new people, she warms up quickly and soon reveals her affectionate personality. She enjoys pets, cuddles, and is generous with kisses. Once she feels comfortable, her playful side emerges, including an adorable, goofy run that never fails to make people smile. Casey is generally calm and walks fairly well on a leash, although her curious nose occasionally convinces her to follow an interesting scent. Because of this, a harness may help her stay focused during walks and adventures. Her former family reported that she does well with adults and children and would make a wonderful family companion. However, Casey enjoys chasing cats, so she will need a cat-free home. She can also be selective about other dogs, so any potential canine sibling will need to meet her first to ensure a good match. More than anything, Casey wants to be loved. She wants a family to walk beside, a couch to cuddle on, and people she can shower with affection. She has so much love to give and is simply waiting for someone willing to give that love back. Casey`s story isn`t defined by being surrendered. It`s defined by her resilience, her sweet spirit, and her hope that the next family she meets will be the one that lasts forever. Could Casey be the missing piece your family has been looking for?

Story
Meet Angus, aka Gus, a handsome Hound / Rhodesian Ridgeback mix with soulful eyes and an even sweeter personality. At [age] old and a lovable [weight], this boy is a gentle giant and, at heart, a total baby. Gus is crate and potty-trained and does well on leash with proper guidance, which our trainer will provide. He is a mellow guy that likes relaxing, and is often nursing on his favorite stuffed toy or curling up on his bed. He would thrive in a home with a fenced yard and a confident, loving pack leader who can provide structure and reassurance. Gus was found roaming the streets of Fort Lauderdale until one of our dedicated volunteers rescued him and brought him to Abandoned Pet Rescue. Since arriving at the shelter, he has been busy collecting stuffed animals and melting hearts with his calm, charming nature. If you’d like learn more about Angus, you can find him on Instagram at @angus_apr. To meet Angus, please fill out an adoption application at Abandonedpetrescue.org.
