Story
Meet Cooper, a Rottweiler mix who is the epitome of a true gentleman!  Calm and well-mannered, Cooper is still under a year old but has the maturity level of a much older dog. He politely says hello to new people with no jumping, and he greets new dogs with a calmness that immediately puts them at ease. It doesn’t get any easier than Cooper. He’s crate trained, potty trained and walks perfectly on a leash. It’s as if he’s had years of leash training, but in reality, he’s just a natural. He walks right beside you, never pulling or reacting to anything around him.  Cooper was approximately 8 months old as of June 1. A breed test done on Cooper’s sister showed that the litter is half Rottweiler and the other half is a combination of Siberian Husky, American Pit Bull Terrier and Golden Retriever. Cooper will likely be a sizable dog when full grown, possibly around 80 lbs, give or take. Cooper is incredibly good with other dogs and currently attends day care where he is always making new friends. He also adores kids, and immediately lays down for belly rubs in their presence. It doesn’t take much to wear Cooper out. In his future forever home, he would love to cuddle on the couch with you after a leisurely morning stroll. He loves to be near his people.  Cooper is an easygoing, practically perfect dog who deserves the best forever home. Please apply today if he would be a cherished addition to your family. Story
Dozer may be a little guy for a Rottweiler at just 60 pounds, but his heart is absolutely enormous. At 4 years old, he's the definition of a gentle giant in a compact package. Calm, affectionate, and incredibly easygoing, Dozer has never met a stranger and wins over everyone he meets with his sweet personality. Dozer gets along beautifully with dogs, cats, and even chickens. He's house trained, crate trained, loves going for walks, enjoys playing with other dogs, and is always up for a toy. His favorite hobby? Quietly stealing your shoes and carrying them around like prized possessions. He would absolutely love a home with another dog his size to romp, wrestle, and play with. Dozer is a special needs dog. We believe he has Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (NAD), a rare inherited neurological condition that affects the brain and spinal cord. At this time, his only symptom is an adorable, clumsy "drunken sailor" walk that doesn't slow him down one bit. Because NAD is progressive and has no cure, Dozer is looking for a family that understands special needs dogs and is committed to loving him through whatever the future may hold. Right now, he's happy, playful, and enjoying every day to the fullest. If you're looking for a calm, loving companion with a heart of gold and don't mind the occasional missing shoe, Dozer just might be your perfect match. Dozer's adoption fee is $300 and includes his neuter, age appropriate vaccines, parasite prevention, and microchip.

Story
Nox is looking for a home — he’s a story of resilience, growth, and second chances. Pulled from a shelter by our trainer at @gentlewolfdogtraining in early 2025, Nox arrived severely malnourished and clearly suffered a difficult past. Today, he’s healthy, strong, and ready for the right person to step into his world. At roughly 3 years old, Nox is a young adult with a big personality. He’s a well-traveled gentleman (no really, he flies with his foster) who thrives in nature - hiking trails, open space, quiet environments. He’s a dog who wants to lean into capable leadership, not chaos. He experienced the worst kind of cruelty but does not need babying — he needs a human who understands what structured support looks like. Someone who can stay calm, think clearly, and provide guidance, also ideally has experience with the breed. When Nox feels understood and like his person has his back, a different dog appears. He's goofy, charming, sometimes hilariously unsure of how to manage his big body, and full of potential. With other dogs, he does well under clear leadership and benefits from clear boundaries. Nox is not a beginner’s dog. His past has left marks that surface when he becomes overwhelmed, especially during transitions into rest. Nox will only be adopted to an experienced home — someone who respects what a dog with a story needs, and has the means, empathy, and skill set to continue his journey. His next chapter starts with the right person — if that sounds like you, please fill out our adoption application: dixiegirldogrescue.org/forms.
