Story
She was a rescue at Metro Animal Shelter, she sits at about 10 months old. She is very loving but independent when needed, no separation anxiety. I call her a little diva, she’s a picky eater sometimes. Loves stuffed animals and rope toys! Thrives at the dog park, enjoys being outside at home but would prefer to be inside with you. I think she would be a lovely family pet but maybe too heavy footed for small children, though I have no kids, she is very playful with my siblings. Peach has a delightful, funny, and engaging personality. She just wants to be close to you. She will bring immense joy to your household, as she did mine.

Story
I didn't delete my account after getting my final dog and Roscoe popped up as a match. Frankie gave me a sob story of being out of work, needing shoulder surgery and a neighbor threatening to harm Rosco. This was early November, I was lead the believe by Christmas or New Year everything would be worked out. Right from the beginning there were problems, Roscoe wasn't accustomed to the city noises around my apartment. If he got spooked he wanted to go inside even if he wasn't finished with outside business. This did cause a few accidents. He is protective and will let me know when someone comes in down stairs by barking. He thinks he should be a lap dog despite his size. He will give kisses till you make him stop. He isn't interested in my cat and loves playing with my dogs. He's deathly afraid of the spray bottle. He now knows move/get off, leave it, get out of a room and let's go. By his behavior I think he had to struggle to survive before he was taken in,he is always hungry an thirsty

Story
Nox is looking for a home — he’s a story of resilience, growth, and second chances. Pulled from a shelter by our trainer at @gentlewolfdogtraining in early 2025, Nox arrived severely malnourished and clearly suffered a difficult past. Today, he’s healthy, strong, and ready for the right person to step into his world. At roughly 3 years old, Nox is a young adult with a big personality. He’s a well-traveled gentleman (no really, he flies with his foster) who thrives in nature - hiking trails, open space, quiet environments. He’s a dog who wants to lean into capable leadership, not chaos. He experienced the worst kind of cruelty but does not need babying — he needs a human who understands what structured support looks like. Someone who can stay calm, think clearly, and provide guidance, also ideally has experience with the breed. When Nox feels understood and like his person has his back, a different dog appears. He's goofy, charming, sometimes hilariously unsure of how to manage his big body, and full of potential. With other dogs, he does well under clear leadership and benefits from clear boundaries. Nox is not a beginner’s dog. His past has left marks that surface when he becomes overwhelmed, especially during transitions into rest. Nox will only be adopted to an experienced home — someone who respects what a dog with a story needs, and has the means, empathy, and skill set to continue his journey. His next chapter starts with the right person — if that sounds like you, please fill out our adoption application: dixiegirldogrescue.org/forms. If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.cognitoforms.com/DixieGirl1/PetAdoptionApplicationForm2 Most of our are pets are fostered in Southern foster homes and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Our pets are adoptable in Alabama and New England States.
