Indigo is a 4 ½ year old Rottweiler. She currently weighs 69 pounds but should be at least 80 pounds. Indigo will "sing" when she hears a siren go by. It's very cute. Walks are very important for her as she does not, at least currently, enjoy hanging out in the backyard. Loud or strange/new noises, such as large trucks, trash trucks, etc, are very scary. Indigo thinks it is awesome when she sees a bunny but then she chases them so her new people need to be aware of this so both walker and Indigo are safe. She loves to have a chew stick after dinner.She would like another dog in the home to help her, so a meeting with your calm dog(s) to be sure they are a good fit is important. Indigo prefers to have her people home more often than out of the home and would do best with teens who are calmer and move more slowly. Indigo is a sensitive girl who prefers a peaceful home with a lot of love and care. If you would like to meet Indigo, please apply at NMDR.org.- - - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience. Story
Boxers-Bonded Pair (must go together) Hawk (2.5 years) & Shadow (3.5 years). HSPPR-adopted and fostered since 9/23. Very loving & affectionate. They love walks on leash, smart, knows lots of tricks, fun & sweet nature. Required Inside dogs only, boxers do not do well with heat or cold. 5 or 6 ft fenced backyard required. Hawk suffers from anxiety when left alone so a kennel somewhat calms him while his humans are away, Shadow does fine out of kennel when left alone (they would love to have a stay at home Mom). They do amazing free ranging through the house all day and night, they will let you know if they need to go outside, they love toys and playing fetch. Positive reinforcement is a must and they respond very well to instruction and treats. These two need a LOVING Fur-Ever home. They have not had such a great past, they are humble, smart & appreciative!
