Story
Meet Henry Lee — Our Big-Hearted Dude Searching for a Softer Life Henry Lee is a 6–8-year-old, 100-pound gentle giant with the personality of a classic Rottweiler — loyal, devoted, and full of quiet charm. He'll need to be reminded he's a senior as he has tons of energy and is always on the go. What Henry Lee Needs • A foster OR adopter who understands the Rottie breed • An adult-only home (no kids due to his size + lack of history) • No other pets What Henry Lee LOVES • Being outside in the yard • Car rides • Squeaky toys and balls • Soaking up ALL the attention • A good nap in his crate (toss a treat in and he'll happily go right in!) This sweet senior deserves a peaceful home where he can enjoy his golden years with comfort, love, and dignity.January 10, 2026, 2:16 pm

Story
ABOUT COCO Looking for some lively love? Meet CoCo! This affectionate, energetic lady is a 2-year-old mix breed. CoCo came to HAP when her owners could no longer care for her. Understandably, the shelter has been a challenging adjustment for her after living in a home. To help give her a break, and so we could see her true personality, CoCo spent some time in a foster home! Here is a summary of her behavior from her foster parents: CoCo is a smart, affectionate, and energetic girl with a big personality and an even bigger heart! CoCo walks beautifully on leash with lots of slack and rarely pulls, unless a squirrel dares to cross her path. She’s not a fan of cold weather and would much rather head back inside to cozy up once her walk is done. CoCo is incredibly loving and people-oriented. She thinks she’s a lap dog and will happily plop herself onto your lap for cuddles and belly rubs. She bonds quickly with her people and likes to keep everyone together, checking in to make sure no one gets left behind. She’s also very food motivated (a slow feeder is a must!) and eager to please, making her a fast learner. With consistent praise and treats, she’s already made great progress with house training and basic manners. This sweet girl has a lot of energy and will need outlets for both her body and brain. She loves fetch, enjoys food-filled enrichment toys, and thrives with structure and supervision. Soft toys with squeakers are her favorite, though she’ll need durable options or monitored playtime since she can get a bit enthusiastic. CoCo is quiet overall, rarely barking, and does great in the car, though she’ll need proper safety restraints, as she’s a little too adventurous with open windows. CoCo did well being handled for grooming, including baths and blow drying, and was tolerant and patient throughout the process. She’s curious about cats and would need slow, careful introductions in a home with them. Because of her energy and excitement, she may occasionally jump when happy, but she’s responsive to training and already learning polite behaviors. CoCo would thrive in an active, attentive home that can continue her training, provide enrichment, and give her plenty of love. She’s a joyful, affectionate companion who will keep you smiling, and very loved, every single day. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Story
REIGN was found tied to our fence on New Year's Eve. At the time, he seemed like a very insecure, tentative guy. After about a week of being with us, we received a note about his past. Apparently Reign was rescued from an abusive home by a good Samaritan. We feel that he was introduced too quickly and shown love too quickly and escalated to top dog, resulting in a couple of bites and A dogfight. We have been going slow with Reign and feel that he would do well a Rottweiler savvy, female only home. He is not a confident dog and needs to experience the things he missed out on in his first home – long gentle hikes would be ideal confidence builders.  Once he settles in, a basic obedience class would be a great beginning 'job'.  Reign Is learning a little bit each day and we are not looking to rush him into a home, we would like a family that is able to do several meet and greets, overnights and take it slow slowly. Reign has been neutered, vaccinated and tested negative for heartworm and tickborne diseases and has been microchipped. Adoption $350. Please fill out our dog adoption application prior to making an appointment to come out and meet Reign. January 26, 2025, 9:23 am
