Story
Melanie was born on 4-28-23, potential rotti/lab mix. Sweet girl and good with kids. WE ONLY ADOPT LOCALLY WITHIN A 2 HOUR RADIUS OF THE TRICOUNTY AREA. ***Exceptions may be made for seniors or hard to place dogs. If the animal is under the age of 3 years old or has health issues, a vet reference is required which means you must own a pet or have owned a pet in your name. Adoption fee of $ covers all vetting including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip heartworm test and treatment if needed and any other medical that may be required while in rescue. We only do adoptions on Saturday and not all animals are able to attend so if you would like to see a specific animal please let us know so that we can make arrangements for it to be present at the event. Event locations do vary so please check the homepage to find out where we will be this week. Please do not ask us to reduce adoption fees since all fees help us to cover medical expenses for all of our animals, some of which can be very expensive. Saving lives is not cheap so thank you for your understanding and helping us save as many as possible. Please email lowcountryanimalrescue@ymail.com for an application.

Story
Skye is a beautiful girl who was purchased by a breeder. She is very loving and energetic. She was surrendered to the sanctuary because she was very rough with the woman in the household. She would jump up and mouth he arms and bite at her clothing. This would cause bruising and scratches. This was most probably rough play that puppies usually do with littler mates. Sometimes puppies are not given the opportunity to learn the things they need to know from their siblings like bite inhibition. Whoever adopts Skye needs to be patient and ready to redirect inappropriate behaviors like rough play and use continued positive reinforcement. Since arriving to the sanctuary, we have noticed that Skye wants to play roughly with other dogs as well. If she lives with another dog, they will need to be able to correct her appropriately when she is too much. While we will adopt her to people out of state, applicants need to be willing to make the drive with any other dogs in the house to meet Skye and be willing to bring her back to the sanctuary if she does not work out in the home.

Story
Meet Polly *Waived Adoption Fee Polly was found back in May of 2022 in the middle of a busy highway, eating a cardboard moving box in the rain. She was emaciated, her eyes were badly infected, and her hair was patchy... where she had hair it was very thin and badly damaged. However, she was as sweet as pie and just wanted love and food. During her recovery, she blew out her coat and now has a luscious thick coat that anyone would love. Polly has had a very hard life so far, but you would never know it with her sweetheart attitude. She is happy to follow you around and has good off-leash manners. She has become accustomed to her routine in her foster home. She is very smart and is house and crate-trained. She does well on the leash and has obedience training. She is also quiet and will let you know when she needs to go potty with a single bark. Polly would be happy to spend all of her time with you, relaxing. Due to Polly’s difficult life up until this point, we think she would be best in a only-dog home. Polly does have aches and pains at times due to arthritis. It is manageable with joint supplements and carprofen on select bad days. For this reason we do recommend a child free home although she's been amazing with kids. She should go to an experienced owner who understands her breed and her health limitations. As her back can hurt, she understandably needs a break, especially if she is very active that day. She does not like people in her face. Polly is a very loving and intelligent dog. She will go to her crate when she needs a break but loves to be loved. Please consider giving Polly the wonderful home that she truly deserves.

Everyone that sees Luna says she is the happiest pup they have ever seen! Her whole body wags when she sees you! She is 9 months old, has completed obedience training and knows her stuff! She loves to get brushed, is able to be crated up to 8 hours and is never aggressive! Luna lost a hind leg at a very early age but that does not slow her down at all! She is able to hop up in the car and runs with the others as if she has all fours! She comes with a crate, bed, cot, a pin with room to spread out, food bowls, leash, collar w/info tag. I am struggling personally and want to find a good home while she is young. Luna will be a great addition to any home and will do well with children and other pets.

Story
Meet sweet Octavia! This little girl is around 6-7 months old and came to us from our rural shelter partner when she was only 5 weeks old! Poor girl had a ROUGH start to life but was a fighter and made it through some pretty tough medical conditions. This girl is 100% healthy and is so ready to find her forever home. She has no lasting effects from the battles she fought in the beginning and is just the sweetest and happiest little lady. On top of medical conditions, Octavia then found herself in a situation where she needed rescuing once again. Without going into details we are just happy we have our sweet girl and can spoil her while finding her true forever home. She loves other dogs and does fine with kitties but being a puppy just needs to learn they do not want to play like her other pals do. She is super sweet, doesnt jump, is house trained and does well in crate. Octavia is fully vetted, spayed and microchipped.
