Story
Melanie was born on 4-28-23, a rotti/lab mix. Sweet and happy girl and good with kids amd dogs. She is high energy and need exercise and a fenced yard to curb her enthusiasm! She is in need of some obedience training, but is food-motivated, eager to please and quick to learn with the right discipline. She is a happy-go-lucky girl and just wants as much attention as she can get! She would make a loyal companion for an active family and/or a family with another larger dog to zoomie with! WE ONLY ADOPT LOCALLY WITHIN A 2 HOUR RADIUS OF THE TRICOUNTY AREA. ***Exceptions may be made for seniors or hard to place dogs. If the animal is under the age of 3 years old or has health issues, a vet reference is required which means you must own a pet or have owned a pet in your name. Adoption fee of $315 covers all vetting including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip heartworm test and treatment if needed and any other medical that may be required while in rescue. We only do adoptions on Saturday and not all animals are able to attend so if you would like to see a specific animal please let us know so that we can make arrangements for it to be present at the event. Event locations do vary so please check the homepage to find out where we will be this week. Please do not ask us to reduce adoption fees since all fees help us to cover medical expenses for all of our animals, some of which can be very expensive. Saving lives is not cheap so thank you for your understanding and helping us save as many as possible. Please email lowcountryanimalrescue@ymail.com for an application.

Story
Stanley Update 🤍 Several weeks ago, we found Stanley lying on the side of the road after being hit by a car. He was in terrible shape, and we truly believe that if we hadn’t stopped, he would have died a slow and horrible death. We immediately got him to safety, and he’s been recovering in foster care with our director ever since. When Stanley came to us, he was incredibly sick and severely emaciated. He has virtually no teeth left in his mouth and was so thin that we had to be extremely careful about refeeding syndrome, meaning he now gets three small meals a day along with multiple medications to help him safely gain weight and heal. Last week we noticed something concerning — his breathing effort had increased and he wasn’t as interested in food as he normally is. For a dog who came to us starving, that was a huge red flag. We rushed him to our incredible veterinary partners at Charleston Veterinary Referral Center where they performed radiographs and had a cardiologist evaluate him. The tests showed that Stanley has Pulmonary Hypertension. Thankfully he is not in heart failure right now, but it is something we will have to monitor closely moving forward. His x-rays also told a heartbreaking story. Scattered throughout his body were dozens of BBs — in his chest, on his front legs, and over a hundred in the back half of his body. At some point in his life, someone used him for target practice. Despite everything he’s endured, Stanley has remained the sweetest, most gentle soul. He loves people and does well with other dogs, and all he seems to want is kindness. Stanley has survived so much already — and we’re determined to give him the chance he’s always deserved. While Stanley is not currently available due to medical needs we hope everyone can follow his story and watch him become the dog he deserves to be. When Stanley is medically cleared we will be looking for the most amazing home for this special boy

Story
🍻 Meet the Frat Litter: Chad, Brody & Tucker 🍻 Rush week is officially open. These three future legends—Chad, Brody, and Tucker—are 5½-week-old puppies who came to us from one of our rural shelter partners after being found as strays. While we don't know exactly what breeds are represented in this fraternity, we do know they're majoring in Naps, Minoring in Snacks, and pursuing a PhD in Being Adorable. The brothers are currently living it up in foster care, where they're mastering important frat-boy skills such as wrestling with their roommates, stealing each other's toys, falling asleep in ridiculous positions, and charming everyone they meet. They're soft, squishy, covered in puppy rolls, and have never met a lap they didn't want to climb into. As certified Super Mutts™, we can't guarantee their breed mix, but we suspect they'll graduate to around 50–60 pounds of pure best friend material. They'll be ready to move into their forever homes in about 2½–3 weeks. Their hobbies include: 🍗 Looking for snacks 😴 Group naps 🎾 Intramural toy stealing 🐾 Questionable decision-making ❤️ Being ridiculously lovable If you're looking for a lifelong roommate who won't remember to do the dishes but will always be excited to see you, one of these boys might be your perfect match. Applications are now being accepted for membership into the Frat Litter Fan Club. Visit our website to apply and give Chad, Brody, or Tucker the forever home they deserve. No keg stands. Plenty of puppy cuddles.
