ABOUT HATCHI
Who doesn't love a giant teddy bear? Meet Hatchi, a 3-year-old affectionate Akita! He came to HAP when his owners were moving and could no longer keep him. While Akitas often have a reputation for being tough, this guy is a total lover boy who’s sure to melt right into your lap! Hatchi is very well-mannered, knows basic commands, and is gentle with people. He walks well on a leash and is highly motivated to learn. Hatchi previously lived with another dog, although his former owners noted that their dog frequently provoked him by barking or mouthing at him. Despite that, Hatchi was never aggressive, he simply preferred having his own space. Because of this, Hatchi may do best as the only pet in the home but could enjoy the company of doggy friends outside of it. Thanks to his affectionate, social, and gentle temperament with people, we believe Hatchi could do well with dog-savvy children. Hatchi enjoys playtime, but snuggles are truly his favorite! If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
