Story
At 13 years old and just 8 pounds, Cutie Pie is a tiny Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix with a gentle heart who is looking for a soft place to spend her golden years. She came to us after being surrendered to the Newark shelter simply because she had grown old. Like many senior dogs, time has changed her. She's not the energetic little dog she once was, but she still has so much love and sweetness to share with the right person.
Cutie Pie has a happy little tail that wags, especially when it's mealtime, and she gets genuinely excited when she sees her foster mom, running out of her room to greet her. While she's a bit shy about being touched, she enjoys gentle head scratches when she's relaxing in her cozy bed and is slowly learning that people can be trusted.
Cutie Pie gets along well with other dogs and even has a special senior friend in her foster home. (Chico is also available for adoption!) Her vision and hearing aren't perfect anymore, but she navigates her surroundings surprisingly well. Outside, she enjoys wandering and exploring before eventually settling into her favorite comfy bed for a well deserved nap.
Her bloodwork showed the early stages of possible kidney disease, and she has some arthritis along with a curved spine that comes with age. She's scheduled to have the dental care she needs before adoption.
What Cutie Pie wants most isn't much. She isn't looking for adventures or long hikes. She's looking for a peaceful home, a warm bed, good meals, gentle kindness, and someone who understands that senior dogs deserve to be cherished.
If you've ever thought about giving a senior dog the gift of love, Cutie Pie may be waiting just for you. She still has happiness to share, and she deserves to spend the rest of her life knowing she is safe, loved, and finally home.
