Gertrude is a very timid but gentle soul. She was trapped in order to be rescued and heavily matted when we got her. She does not trust people yet, but will sleep in bed with me and the other dogs and sometimes in the mornings she will lick my face but she avoids human tough still. She has not tried to bite or nip but she will take time to learn to trust. For this reason she needs a very quiet home with no kids who could accidentally let her out. If she were to escape there would likely be no catching her. She weighs about 9-10 lbs and is about 2 years old. Gertrude is spayed, upt on shots, and microchipped. She is heartworm positive but has been given meds and Proheart 12. She needs to be retested in 6 mos (June) and if she is positive we will pay for another Proheart injection. Adoption fee is: $450 ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Adoption fees are variable. Up to date vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter are included in the fee. Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with a CAMO representative to set up a meet and greet. She was found wandering as a stray, frightened and unsure of the world around her. After fending for herself, it’s no surprise that she’s still terrified of new people, sounds, and surroundings. Right now, she’s learning what it means to feel safe, loved, and cared for — one gentle moment at a time. She will not be a good fit for children. She acts ferocious but it's mostly an act. She can be handled by our groomer. She lets her foster pet her on her conditions. She is only available to a qualified home who knows she never be a loving lap dog. Although she’s shy, Madam Mim has shown that she has a gentle, trusting spirit buried beneath her fear. — she just needs patience and understanding to come out of her shell. Every small sign of progress, from a curious sniff to a wag of her tail, is a glimpse of the loving companion she’s hoping to become. She does have some sight issues causing her to be mostly blind. Maybe just close proximity of sight only. This may be contributing to her needing extra time to get settled in.
