Story
Waffles’ Bio
Waffles is a small poodle, about 16 pounds and estimated to be around 5–6 years old. She was found on her own in a quiet residential neighborhood and brought into the home of the person who found her. From the very beginning, it was clear that Waffles is a gentle, sensitive dog who forms deep bonds and thrives on calm, predictable companionship.
At home, Waffles is affectionate and deeply people-oriented. She loves being close to her person, whether that means curling up beside you on the couch, resting near your feet, or leaning in for head rubs and booty scratches. When you talk to her, she looks up with soft, expressive eyes and responds with her signature slow tail wag, as if she is thoughtfully taking everything in. She has a peaceful presence and truly enjoys quiet time together.
Food is where Waffles’ joyful side shines. She is highly food-motivated and gets adorably excited when she knows mealtime is coming, hopping, spinning, and wiggling with her whole body. Her favorite treats are freeze-dried liver bites, which she absolutely loves. She is so motivated by them that they even helped her learn to confidently walk down stairs. She is not interested in toys or traditional play, but she enjoys enrichment activities that involve licking and sniffing, such as lick mats or sniff mats.
Waffles enjoys going for walks and peaceful outdoor time with her person. She behaves well on leash and is calm around people, dogs, cars, and everyday noises. Walks are something she genuinely enjoys and looks forward to, and she would be a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys regular, relaxed outings together.
She does well with other dogs and cats, rides nicely in the car, and tolerates grooming and baths. She is crate trained and settles well when left alone, though she prefers being near her people when they are home. Stairs are not ideal for Waffles, as she is hesitant going up them, but she is comfortable being picked up if needed.
Waffles recently experienced seizure episodes and is currently doing well with treatment. She has been responding very well so far, and consistency with her routines has been especially important for her continued stability. As she settles and regains her footing, Waffles shows a tendency to chew her paws during quiet or low-stimulation moments. This appears to be a self-soothing behavior and lessens when she is engaged, outside, or focused on food-based enrichment. She will likely be on Keppr, an anti seizure med for life.
Like many dogs who have been through recent transitions, Waffles is still settling into consistent potty routines. She does best with predictable schedules and gentle structure, and continued stability is expected to help her progress.
Waffles would do best in a calm, low-traffic home with predictable routines and people who move thoughtfully around her. She is not a high-energy dog and does not need constant stimulation, but she deeply values companionship, structure, and gentle attention. She bonds strongly with her people and offers a quiet, loving presence in return.
Waffles is a sweet, quirky little dog who simply wants to feel safe, understood, and close to her person. In the right home, she will be a devoted companion, a loyal walking buddy, and a comforting presence for someone who appreciates a sensitive soul.
