Story
Meet Peter Piper! This 2-year-old, 24-pound Poodle/Terrier mix is full of personality and energy. Peter came to us from another shelter and is ready to find a home that understands his unique needs. Peter is not dog-friendly and will need to be the only pet in an adult-only home. He can be food aggressive and may guard his space or resources, so he’ll thrive best with experienced adopters who can give him the structure and guidance he needs. Despite his quirks, Peter is a sweet boy who loves attention, belly rubs, and being doted on. He’s highly food-motivated, loves his toys, and enjoys running around outside and soaking up the sunshine. With his high energy level, Peter would be a great match for an active home that can provide lots of mental and physical stimulation. He’s currently working on his leash manners and potty training, and he’ll benefit from a consistent routine to help him succeed. If you're looking for a fun, affectionate companion who will keep you on your toes and fill your days with energy and love, Peter Piper might be the one for you! Adoption fee is waived to the right home! ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Adoption fees are variable. Up to date vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter are included in the fee. Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with a CAMO representative to set up a meet and greet. We select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dog's needs. For the safety of our small breed dogs and based on our past experiences, we will not place our dogs in homes with large breed dogs. EIN # 46-5486022

Story
Meet SophieAnn Grace, a 4 year 10 month old, 13-pound Poodle mix with a gentle soul and a lifetime of survival behind her. SophieAnn was found living as a 100% feral dog on the streets, terrified of people and fending for herself completely. Her past has made her extremely wary of human contact, and she’s still very much in the early stages of learning to trust. Sudden movements, unfamiliar people, or feeling cornered can trigger her fear response — and if she feels unsafe or threatened, she will try to bite as a form of self-protection. This is not aggression, but fear-based behavior, and it’s crucial that her future family understands and respects her boundaries. She will occasionally allow you to leash her if gently guided into a corner, at which point she becomes docile and may accept soft pets. Being picked up, however, is still far too overwhelming for her at this time. Despite her fear of people, SophieAnn does incredibly well with other calm, well-mannered dogs, and she truly needs another dog in the home. A canine companion will help guide her, show her the joys of being a dog, and help her slowly understand that humans can be safe and kind. She enjoys running around outside on the grass, although she hasn’t yet discovered the fun of toys. She’s also very food motivated and has a special love for raw carrots and peanut butter! Grooming is one of the few areas where she does well—our groomer is able to work with her without issue, proving she can tolerate handling when approached calmly and respectfully. SophieAnn is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. SophieAnn Grace needs a special, very patient and experienced home—one that understands feral dog behavior and is committed to giving her the time and space she needs to decompress and grow. She may never be a snuggly lap dog, but with the right environment, she can learn to feel safe, secure, and maybe even loved. If you have a calm dog, a quiet home, and the heart to help a truly special dog learn what kindness feels like, SophieAnn Grace may be the perfect addition to your pack. Adoption fee is: waived to the right family ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Story
Meet Madam Mim 💛🐾 Introducing Madam Mim, a delicate little soul with a heart ready to heal. This beautiful poodle–Maltese mix weighs just 10 pounds and is about 6 years old. She has stunning curly brown fur that shimmers with golden highlights when the sunlight touches her — truly a little gem waiting to shine again. Madam Mim’s story is one of quiet courage. She was found wandering as a stray, frightened and unsure of the world around her. After fending for herself, it’s no surprise that she’s still terrified of new people, sounds, and surroundings. Right now, she’s learning what it means to feel safe, loved, and cared for — one gentle moment at a time. She will not be a good fit for children. Although she’s shy, Madam Mim has shown that she has a gentle, trusting spirit buried beneath her fear. She’s housetrained and well-behaved in the home — she just needs patience and understanding to come out of her shell. Every small sign of progress, from a curious sniff to a wag of her tail, is a glimpse of the loving companion she’s becoming. She does have some sight issues causing her to be mostly blind. Maybe just close proximity of sight only. This may be contributing to her needing extra time to get settled in. Madam Mim needs a quiet, loving home — someone who can move at her pace, give her space when she needs it, and celebrate each small victory as she learns to trust again. With time, kindness, and a lot of love, this shy little girl will blossom into the loyal, affectionate dog she was always meant to be. If you have a gentle heart and the patience to help a scared dog feel safe, Madam Mim will reward you with the most beautiful gift of all — her trust. She’s waiting for someone special to show her that people can be kind, hands can be soft, and home can finally be a place where she belongs. 💕 Adoption fee is: $200 ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. Story
Bexley & Layken are a tiny, gentle mother–daughter pair looking for a forever family together. Bexley (9) and her daughter Laken (6) are two small, incredibly sweet doodle mixes whose world changed overnight. Bexley is a 15-lb poodle mix, and Layken is a 25-lb goldendoodle, both perfectly sized for cuddling, companionship, and apartment or home living. After their beloved mom passed away and their dad was placed in a nursing home, these girls were abandoned at a high-kill shelter — along with 50 pages of medical records showing the exceptional care they once received. Heartbroken and confused, they clung to each other for comfort, and the shelter reached out for rescue help. Now safe with us, their gentle personalities are shining through. Bexley is a quiet, tender soul who loves softly and deeply. She’s calm, polite, and lets Layken take the spotlight while she stays close by. Layken is the more social, attention-loving daughter. Affectionate, sweet, and happiest when snuggled up to her humans. These two are truly inseparable. When they were briefly separated, both became sad and anxious, even attempting to escape — something they have never done when they’re together. They draw confidence and comfort from each other and must be adopted as a pair. Unfortunately, the two spend most of their time in a kennel, which is not something any dog should have to go through, but fosters homes are unavailable and the alternative is not an option. Bexley and Layken are very well-behaved, calm, and quiet pups who are great with other dogs. A home without cats will be ideal for them. The girls are fully vetted, spayed, microchipped. They are also Heartworm negative and kept on preventatives. These two gentle family companions are currently in Houston, Texas, but can travel anywhere in the U.S. — even Canada — for the perfect forever home. Bexley & Laken have known deep love and deep loss. Now they’re ready for a new chapter filled with safety, devotion, and family. If you’re looking for two small, gentle, incredibly sweet companions, these girls are waiting with open hearts. Yards, if any, must be adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences. Our dogs are fully assessed by foster parents, vets and behaviorists, as well as videos and video chats are available to observe their manners in public. We are extremely transparent and like to share everything negative and positive with the adopters, to ensure it's a good fit and they are not returned to us, as the trips are very stressful on them. Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, many who escaped while living in the yard, which is common in Texas. Since our rescue does not get grants that shelters get, we use adoption fee to help the pups and kitties in our care. Your adoption fee goes towards vetting and feeding our long term and permanent fosters, and unadoptable pups, as well as towards the monthly care and preventatives etc of our pets. By adopting one pup from our rescue, you make room for another dog to be rescued from our high kill shelter, thus becoming an integral part of our mission to save as many unfortunate dogs off the streets and shelters as possible. So Thank you for choosing to rescue, and not go to a breeder.
