Story
Meet Dex Mex! 🐾 Dex Mex is an 11-month-old, 72-pound Poodle mix who came to us from another shelter. This gentle giant is still figuring out the world and needs a patient, loving home to help him build his confidence. He’s a bit on the shy side but has so much love to give once he feels safe. Given his size, Dex would do best in a home with kids 12 and older. He’s working on his leash skills and potty training, so he’ll need some guidance and consistency to master them. With time, patience, and plenty of love, Dex will blossom into the loyal companion he’s meant to be. Dex would do good in a home with other dogs his size or by himself as he feels indifferent towards other dogs and is much more interested in toys. However, he will need supervision when playing with stuffed toys, as he has a tendency to shred them. Are you the one who can show Dex Mex the kindness and security he deserves? 💙🐶 Adoption fee is: $500 ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Adoption fees are variable. Up to date vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter are included in the fee. Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with a CAMO representative to set up a meet and greet. We select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dog's needs. For the safety of our small breed dogs and based on our past experiences, we will not place our dogs in homes with large breed dogs. EIN # 46-5486022

Story
Moses is almost 2 years old poodle mix who weighs 46lbs. He was found as a puppy at a church and given to a senior lady who is no longer able to care for him. Moses loves to ride in the car. He needs to be in a home where he can get more exercise as he's young and has energy. He is fully vetted - neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm negative. He was recently watched by a friend who had a child and smaller dog and he did great with both of them. He thinks he's a lap dog though lol. Adoption fee is: $100 ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Adoption fees are variable. Story
Meet Peter Piper, a lively 1.5-year-old poodle mix who weighs 24 pounds. He journeyed to CAMO's Houston facility all the way from Seguin, TX, and is always eager to greet new faces with boundless enthusiasm. While Peter is very friendly with people, he's not as fond of other dogs, so he would thrive best as the only dog in the home. Peter is currently working hard on his potty and leash training, showing great potential with a consistent schedule and positive reinforcement. With his high energy levels, Peter would be a perfect fit for an active home, ideally one with older children who can keep up with his playful nature. Peter Piper's infectious enthusiasm is sure to bring joy and excitement to any loving household! Adoption fee is waived to the right home! Story
Hi, my name is Underdog, affectionately named by the manager of the trailer park where I was abandoned in San Antonio. I had an owner and I was very loyal to him. However, he moved out and gave me to his friend. Unfortunately, his friend got evicted and wasn’t so nice and just left me behind to fend for myself. I liked to follow the kids in the trailer park around. They were very nice to me. I would walk them to the bus in the morning and then lay in the streets waiting for them to come home. I would greet them at the bus stop and follow them to their homes. I didn’t have a regular meal schedule and appreciated anyone who gave me food, which was mostly table food. The manager did bring me a doghouse, but I preferred to lay out in the street. The manager was worried I might get hit by and with the weather getting colder, so she contacted CAMO Rescue to help me. A nice lady came to pick me up. And took me to her house. I was covered with dirt and fleas. She gave me some medicine to get rid of the bugs and gave me a nice warm bath. The water was brown as it ran over my thin body. The soap and gentle scrubbing, felt really good. She took me for a walk to make sure that all the bugs were gone and to dry off. She also gave me a haircut to remove some mats in my fur. I felt so much better She brought me in her home where I met her other dogs. They wanted to play, but I was not so interested She didn’t know I was already house trained so she put a belly band on me just in case I tried to pee in the house. She didn’t know I was already a good houseguest and went to the back door when I needed to go out to do my business. I quickly learned how to use her doggie door and was able to go in and out by myself. I slept in a crate at her house for the first two nights and after that, I’ve been sleeping in her bed ever since. I like it when she lifts up the covers and I go all the way to the bottom y the foot of the bed to keep warm. Sometimes in the morning I like to sleep in. But when I wake up, I go right outside and do my business. Then it’s time for breakfast. I am a good boy who enjoys gentle pets and a good cuddle. I like to go on walks but pull on the leash a little bit because I’m so excited to see the next new adventure. I also like going for car rides. I have been around toddlers and the kids at the trailer park. I’m not much of a ball player so stuffy toys are just fine with me. I also occasionally get the zoomies and can outrun the young pups. I am a young 8 year-old and weigh about 15 pounds. I had all my vetting done, including a dental where they had to pull a few teeth and remove a tiny pencil eraser size growth from my right side. I am heartworm negative and up-to-date on all my vaccinations. I even have pro heart 12 on board which means I am good on heartworm prevention for one year. I do have very mild seizures once in a while, but I’m not on any medication. I just get a little dazed for a few minutes and then I’m OK. I am looking for my forever home where I can cuddle with you, gaze into your eyes and give and receive lots of love. My foster mom tells me I am a very good boy one of the best dogs she’s ever has. Story
Lovie is a 2-year-old, 10-pound miniature poodle with a sweet spirit and a heart full of potential. Rescued from a hoarding situation in Houston along with 16 other poodles, she is learning what it means to be safe, loved, and cared for. Though initially reserved, Lovie is beginning to come out of her shell, showing curiosity about people and the world around her. She seems to be scared and unsure of kids, so would be best with older kids or an adult only home. She is currently working on potty training and leash training, and with a consistent routine, she will continue to make great progress. Lovie would benefit from having another friendly dog to help guide her and show her the joys of being a carefree pup. With love, patience, and a gentle touch, Lovie will blossom into a devoted and affectionate companion. Could you be the one to give her the forever home she deserves? 💕🐩 Adoption fee is: $450 ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. Story
Meet Pretty Girl, an adult canine companion whose personality is as endearing as her name. Her demeanor is gentle and mellow, but don`t let that fool you, she`s also quite playful. She enjoyed playing with her finder`s children but because of her distrust and pickiness about how she is touched, she`ll need to live with kids at least nine years old. We haven`t seen her with dogs yet. Pretty Girl weighs 10 pounds and is house and leash trained, making her a perfect fit for any household. Her alertness is balanced by a calm and quiet nature, and she has a unique way of prancing that exudes joy. Despite her shyness, Pretty Girl is eager to share her love. Adopt Pretty Girl and let her bring a touch of sweetness and playfulness to your life. (tw 5/1/2025)
