Story
Hi, my name is Underdog, affectionately named by the manager of the trailer park where I was abandoned in San Antonio. I had an owner and I was very loyal to him. However, he moved out and gave me to his friend. Unfortunately, his friend got evicted and wasn’t so nice and just left me behind to fend for myself.
I liked to follow the kids in the trailer park around. They were very nice to me. I would walk them to the bus in the morning and then lay in the streets waiting for them to come home. I would greet them at the bus stop and follow them to their homes.
I didn’t have a regular meal schedule and appreciated anyone who gave me food, which was mostly table food. The manager did bring me a doghouse, but I preferred to lay out in the street.
The manager was worried I might get hit by and with the weather getting colder, so she contacted CAMO Rescue to help me. A nice lady came to pick me up. And took me to her house.
I was covered with dirt and fleas. She gave me some medicine to get rid of the bugs and gave me a nice warm bath. The water was brown as it ran over my thin body. The soap and gentle scrubbing, felt really good. She took me for a walk to make sure that all the bugs were gone and to dry off. She also gave me a haircut to remove some mats in my fur. I felt so much better
She brought me in her home where I met her other dogs. They wanted to play, but I was not so interested
She didn’t know I was already house trained so she put a belly band on me just in case I tried to pee in the house. She didn’t know I was already a good houseguest and went to the back door when I needed to go out to do my business. I quickly learned how to use her doggie door and was able to go in and out by myself.
I slept in a crate at her house for the first two nights and after that, I’ve been sleeping in her bed ever since. I like it when she lifts up the covers and I go all the way to the bottom y the foot of the bed to keep warm. Sometimes in the morning I like to sleep in. But when I wake up, I go right outside and do my business. Then it’s time for breakfast.
I am a good boy who enjoys gentle pets and a good cuddle. I like to go on walks but pull on the leash a little bit because I’m so excited to see the next new adventure. I also like going for car rides.
I have been around toddlers and the kids at the trailer park. I’m not much of a ball player so stuffy toys are just fine with me. I also occasionally get the zoomies and can outrun the young pups.
I am a young 8 year-old and weigh about 15 pounds. I had all my vetting done, including a dental where they had to pull a few teeth and remove a tiny pencil eraser size growth from my right side. I am heartworm negative and up-to-date on all my vaccinations. I even have pro heart 12 on board which means I am good on heartworm prevention for one year. I do have very mild seizures once in a while, but I’m not on any medication. I just get a little dazed for a few minutes and then I’m OK.
I am looking for my forever home where I can cuddle with you, gaze into your eyes and give and receive lots of love. My foster mom tells me I am a very good boy one of the best dogs she’s ever has.
