Story
Meet Solo! This mixed breed gal came to the Shelter as an owner surrender after her previous guardian was unable to continue caring for her. She is looking to not be solo any longer and instead be your pal! Solo lived in a home with another dog but did have some resource guarding tendencies in relation to food, toys and spaces. Solo has been friendly with other dogs at the Shelter and enjoys playing but should not live in a home with other dogs due to her resource guarding. Solo was described as house trained in her previous home. She lived with a dog-savvy cat previously and coexisted. A home with another dog-savvy cat and slow, thoughtful management may be a fit provided the adopter is confident about the introduction and management.

Story
Meet Jacques Cousteau. This teddy bear of a sharpei mix came in as a stray found with another dog. We are not entirely sure of his breed but guess he is some sort of lab / sharpei mix.Jacques has been social with staff and volunteers since arriving. He is a goofy, active boy that is looking to explore in nature with a sidekick. Jacques Cousteau is still working on his leash manners and tends to go full steam ahead when on walks. Adopters are recommended to provide Jacques with above average mental and physical stimulation to help him burn off some much needed steam and learn to decompress in the adoptive home. Jacques would benefit from an adopter that works with him through positive reinforcement based training to bond and learn new life skills and manners. Jacques Cousteau may enjoy a canine companion in the home but any residents should meet at the Shelter prior to adoption. Any children in the home are recommended to meet at the Shelter prior to adoption.

Story
Looks like: Boxer, Pit Bull mix Female, 6 years old (estimated), 70 pounds Scarlett's name associations suit her just perfectly; courage, passion, and joy. This big bundle of sweetness is full of personality and happy energy. As far as she is concerned, the world is her oyster and she would love nothing more than sharing adventures and road trips with you. Scarlett is super friendly with all humans, adults and children alike, and she is a huge snuggle bug. If you stop petting her, but she is not done being petted, she will move your hand back over with her paw and ask for more! On leashed walks, this strong girl is usually well-behaved, unless she sees a squirrel, then she gets very excited and pulls. With other dogs she can be hot and cold; some dogs she ignores, others she barks and lunges at. Although she has previously lived with two cats, she may try to engage in a chase and may be better off in a feline-free home. When home alone, she curls up and mostly sleeps; however, sometimes her mischievous side gets the better of her and she may opportunistically inspect the trash or do a quick counter-surf. Scarlett came to POMDR with a torn ligament in her knee which was successfully repaired at our clinic in early February. She is recovering very well from her surgery, but the joint may take a few months to completely heal and she will require some activity restrictions during this period. Sweet Scarlett would appreciate finding a family who will support her through recovery and encourage some gentle movement. Once her knee is all healed up, she would love to be part of an active household and pursue an adventurous lifestyle once more. This girl is ready to be showered with lots of attention and love. Scarlett joined us from the SPCA of Monterey County to help find her lucky forever family!

Story
Looks like: Boxer, German Shepherd, Golden Retriever Mix Male, 8 years old (estimated), 65 pounds Meet the dog with the world's biggest heart! Hank has tons of love to share in the form of cuddles, snuggles, and adoration for his family. Hank refuses to pick favorites-in fact, he's a fan of yours already! He has excellent manners-no jumping up when saying hello, never begging, and asking permission before getting onto a bed or couch. Hank would be happiest in a house where folks have deep reserves of affection ready to share with him. This energetic boy will need people who welcome a dog with spirit, strength, and passions: car rides, long walks, hikes, and fetch (only the best game in the world). He has shown some dog reactivity while on leash, but with reminders and training he's already showing signs of improvement. He has successfully lived with cats in the past, but would require a gradual introduction with any new kitty friends. He admits that his natural inclination is to chase cats (squirrels are also kind of irresistible). Hank sometimes protects his resources when he settles into a home. He would be best in a home as a solo dog or with a pup who is happy to share toys and chews and won't be bothered by Hank's miserly tendencies at times! We don't know yet how Hank would do with children. Hank's dream situation would include humans of his very own to love, squeaky toys, and a yard. Hank's DNA results show that he's a Super Mutt Mix! He's 50% Boxer mixed with German Shepherd, Golden Retriever and Border Collie. Hank was surrendered to us because his senior guardian was no longer able to care for him.

Story
English Bulldog Female, 9 years old, 61 pounds Wednesday is a wiggly, snorty, sniffly, squishy-faced girl who's eager to greet everyone she comes across. Bulldog lovers are bound to go crazy for her loud snores and big slobbery kisses! Even non-Bulldog lovers can't help but fall in love with this sweet girl! Wednesday will do best as the only dog in her home as she has made it clear that she does not wish to share her space with other pups. She would love nothing more than to spend much of the day away with you on the couch snoozing or getting belly rubs. Wednesday enjoys going for a nice walk here and there but her greatest passion is to be inside spending time with her people. Wednesday will love a family who will help her lose a few pounds with a proper diet and gentle activity. Wednesday's ideal family will be homebodies. She is doing great when left for short periods of time in her foster home, but isn't a big fan of alone time. Wednesday has lived with a child before, but is not a pup that is safe to live with cats. Wednesday came to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services after being found as a stray.
