Story
I've had Cerberus since he was a puppy. He is a good dog but I am not equipped to handle his behavioral issues. He charges at dogs in public, attacks dogs and cats, and can't be left alone without him experiencing anxiety. I don't know what to do but he deserves a good home and an experienced owner that can bring out the best in him.

Story
**About Bean:** Thank you for interested in adopting Puff. Please know that Puff is an international rescue through Taiwan. When your application is approved, you will need to pick her up from the airport - such as SFO, SEA, JFK, LAX, ONT, IAH, YVR etc. International adoption is not a complicated process and we‘ve done the process many years. We would be happy to explain to you how the process works. Sesame, Bean, and Puff, the 3 adorable sisters, were found stuffed in a non-breathable soil bag and left on the side of the road. Their rescuer discovered them after hearing puppy sounds coming from the bag. The bag was tied up, preventing the puppies from escaping, and if they hadn’t been found, they would have suffocated. The rescuer quickly brought them to a veterinarian to ensure their physical and mental health were good. After a thorough medical examination, the rescuer took them home for care after receiving a clean bill of health. Sesame, Bean, and Puff are incredibly sweet and friendly, always showing confidence in their interactions with both people and other dogs. They are not intimidated by larger dogs either. The 3 sisters are smart and fast learners, having already mastered the joy of leash walking. They behave well during car rides, showing no signs of motion sickness. They have no known food allergies and do not display food aggression when interacting with other dogs. After three months of care, completing all necessary medical examinations, and confirming that they are currently free from any health issues, it’s finally time to find them a permanent, loving home. If you’re interested in adopting Sesame, Bean, or Puff, please don’t hesitate to contact us for more details. We’d be more than happy to help! Bean is still in Taiwan. If you are interested in adopting Bean, please go through our international adoption process. Bean is ready for her forever sweet home. Story
Meet Tugboat, the 4 year old English bulldog! This handsome lad is very social and very excited to be included in any adventures ( even if only for a short while). This stout boy doesn’t have much stamina, but he sure knows how to have fun! He was a stray, so we don’t have much history about him, however here at the shelter he has met with some dogs and had some interest in them, but he got easily distracted by the other sights and smells surrounding him. The world is a big place that needs to be explored, and Tugboat is ready to go for a sniff-fari! If you are looking for a loveable, robust pup., come meet Tugboat!Tugboat is available for preadoption - come meet him, fall in love and take him home after his neuter surgery! The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Story
Lovey Dovey lives up to her name and is looking for a forever home with a cozy lap to snuggle. She has been living happily in a foster home with a resident senior dog and two adult humans:“Dovey brings lots of joy and laughter into our home with her sweet nature and goofy personality. She starts each day giving our dog kisses and greets us with beautiful songs, hugs and more kisses. We work full time and shes fine being left alone to roam free in the house. At the end of the day she welcomes us back with more jubilance and at night becomes the dog equivalent of a weighted blanket cuddling on the couch. She does great on car rides and is potty trained via walks and yard breaks. She gets excited for walks and is very strong on leash with a drive towards squirrels. She gets amped about fetch and destroying stuffies so sometimes we need to help her set limits. Though she’s a lively 11, she does enjoy her senior moments too like an afternoon snooze in a dog bed or sun bathing in the yard. Dovey was restless in the shelter kennel and does not like to be contained in kennels, behind baby gates, or behind closed bedroom doors. If you’re ready for endless love and affection this big lap dog is the girl for you.”Dovey is selective with her dog friends (liking some but not others). This is common as dogs age. Adopters should be mindful that she may not enjoy high traffic dog areas like dog parks or dog beaches. Any resident dogs should meet prior to adoption to see how the two get along. Dovey`s adoption fee has been sponsored by the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation`s Leave No One Behind fund - a fund that draws adopter`s eyes towards animals that have been waiting a little bit longer than average for the right adopters to come along and bring them home. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption.
