Story
Miss Mila has come into rescue due to unfortunate circumstances and that was because her owner became ill and could no longer take proper care of her. We will not stand by and let her journey end there. We are here to send Mila onto the next chapter of her life and that is finding her the perfect forever family. Mila is a five-year-old Shar Pei and weighs around 50 pounds which makes her a move over and make space on the couch gal, but she will fit perfectly into your heart. Mila has some great attributes. She is good with other dogs and could easily acclimate to a family that already has resident dogs, or she would be fine as an only dog. She is initially shy with new people but will warm up quickly. That is when this girl shines and her personality is front and center. She has not had the opportunity to be introduced to children or cats since coming into rescue so it remains unknown how she would do with them. What we do know is that she has a medium energy level that will make her a perfect fit for the average active family. She loves to go on car rides so Mila will make a great car companion for short errands to long adventures and anything in between. This girl has a couple of aces up her sleeve. Mila is house trained, crate trained and also leash trained. Daily walks and strolls through the neighborhood will be a delight to her senses and provided wonderful opportunities for Mila to meet and great new people and other dogs. Although Mila is housetrained, it is important to remember that accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment. If you are looking for a great gal to welcome into your family pack, take the opportunity to get to know Mila. * When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Mila is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us.If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.July 25, 2026, 7:34 am

Story
Boots scootin’, tail waggin’, and ready to steal your heart! Meet our adorable Country Singer litter, a group of Shar Pei mix puppies with personalities as big as a sold-out concert. These happy pups spend their days doing what puppies do best—playing, wrestling, bouncing off each other, and turning every toy into the greatest show on earth. They are quite the talkative bunch, filling the room with puppy grumbles, squeaks, and playful chatter as they romp around together. If you've never heard puppies hold an entire conversation while wrestling over a toy, you're in for a treat! Crinkle toys and squeakers are absolute favorites. Nothing is more exciting than pouncing on a noisy toy and carrying it proudly around the room. When playtime winds down, these little stars are all about soft blankets, cozy naps, and soaking up attention from their people. They love other dogs, enjoy meeting new friends, and are always ready for an adventure or a cuddle session. Their sweet, social personalities make them a joy to be around. These puppies didn't have the easiest start in life. They arrived missing much of their coat, but after receiving the care and treatment they needed, they're thriving. Their beautiful coats are growing in nicely, and every day they become healthier, fluffier, and more confident. Now they're ready to leave the stage behind and find loving families of their own. If you're looking for a playful, affectionate puppy who can make you laugh, keep you entertained, and then snuggle up beside you for a nap, one of these little country stars may be the perfect fit. Local adoption fee is $350(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $650 (includes transport to your area)

Meet Cherry, a lovable 5-year-old who is living proof that second chances are worth it! Story
Hi, I’m Loki. I am a one year old, cream colored Lab/Shar Pei mix, around 50 lbs. I prefer hanging with adults, so I’d be a better fit in a house without little kids. I’m a bit of a leaner … okay maybe I’m a huge leaner but I love to cuddle when you pat me. I like playing with other pups, and I really like the ladies (wink, wink). I have medium energy, so it would be great if my new family has a yard. I’m working on my manners, house and crate training. My foster mom thinks I’m really smart. I already know how to walk on a leash and LOVE car rides. Are you looking for that very special boy to join your family? I’m right here and can’t wait to meet you. *All of The Right to Live dogs are fostered locally in San Antonio Texas and will be transported to other states to their new families upon adoption. We believe fostering dogs and not having them decompress in a kennelled environment is more beneficial for the dogs and builds their trust and companionship in a family situation. Adoption fee includes transportation costs, previous/current medical treatment (spay/neuter, etc.) and a health certificate for cross-state travel*

Story
"Howdy, I'm Hank and I'm looking for a home!" Hank is an adorable Shar Pei mix with his handsome hippo-like snout and irresistibly soft cheeks! He is almost 60lbs, has a slender, muscular build and enjoys long walks, hiking adventures, plushy toys, and even enjoys his travel time in the car! He’s been doing great in his dog training classes and is a proud graduate of our Cooperative Care Specialty Class. Hank is neutered, microchipped, knows basic training foundations, is up to date on vaccinations and now just needs a home and family to call his own! This awesome 8-year-old pup will thrive in an adult home or one with older children (12+). Hank requests a cat free environment and isn’t one for energetic playtimes with other dogs, but he may enjoy the company of another calm, older canine companion. To learn more about handsome Hank and our adoption process, please contact Our Companions at 860-242-9999 or email Helpline@OurCompanions.org!
