Story
Meet Kona!
Kona has spent much of his young life moving between homes, as he hasn’t yet found a person or family fully prepared for him! As a puppy, he experienced some neglect and missed out on early structure and training, which has contributed to a few of the behaviors he’s still working through today. Now in our care, Kona is getting the consistency and guidance he needs while he waits for the right, committed home.
Kona is a handsome two-year-old, 70-pound Aussiedoodle with a big heart and even bigger energy. He’s playful, affectionate, and absolutely loves being around people. When he bonds with you, you’ll have a loyal, loving companion who’s always ready for fun.
Kona thrives on play and activity. He’s happiest chasing a ball, playing catch, working on a Kong, or exploring sniff mats. Because he has a lot of energy, he would do best in a home with a large, secure backyard where he can run and get his exercise at home rather than relying on busy neighborhood walks.
On leash, Kona walks nicely when no other dogs are around, but he does struggle with dog reactivity when he sees other dogs. For this reason, a home that can minimize stressful leash encounters and focus on enrichment and play at home would be ideal.
Kona would likely do well with older or sturdier children who enjoy active play. He can get very excited and is known to jump up when greeting people, so he’ll need a patient adopter who’s willing to continue working on training and setting boundaries. He has made great progress already—his previous mouthiness has significantly improved.
With consistency, exercise, and love, Kona has so much potential to be an amazing companion. He’s best suited for an active home that understands his needs and is excited to help him continue growing into the best version of himself.
