He may be wary of new people at first, but with patience and gentle handling, he blossoms into a deeply affectionate companion.Monkey is great with dogs of all sizes, and he especially adores small, playful pups. He gains confidence from a canine companion and will thrive better with a smaller easy going dog. He is crate trained, enjoys space to stretch out, and would love a yard for doing his proper zoomies.He’s a strong guy still learning polite leash manners, so continued positive training will help him succeed. Monkey previously lived with cats and did well.With the right large-breed-savvy home and another friendly dog by his side, this sweet giant has all the potential to become a loyal, loving, and deeply rewarding companion.

Before arriving at the shelter, he experienced significant neglect, and as a result he takes time to build trust with new people. Connolly thrives best in a savvy, low-traffic home where he can feel safe and supported as he continues to come out of his shell. He has interacted well with other large dogs here at the shelter, though he will need slow, thoughtful introductions to any resident pets. Regular grooming will be important to keep him healthy and comfortable. With the right environment and a kind, consistent handler, Connolly has the potential to blossom into a devoted companion.
