Story
I’m Axel a playful, friendly, curious, happy, 1-year-old Staffordshire Terrier. I am quite handsome with beautiful cream and tan markings and soft eyes. I am fun to play with and do not react to other dogs with barking. I am a fetch champion and will run with one ball in my mouth to eagerly get to a second ball. A home with access to an enclosed yard would be great. I was recently adopted and returned to the shelter as I don`t get along with cats, who knew? I need to be the only dog in your home without small pets. I am an entertaining dog that likes to do fun things. I get a goofy smile on my face when I am happy and that is most of the time. I am becoming a calm dog and as a young dog, I am looking forward to finding someone special to bond with me.I respond to `down and sit` commands and enjoy yummy treats. I am looking for a person to be my friend, coach, trainer and pack leader to provide routine structure for me, calmness, loving touch, and planned outlets. I am a puppy who easily attaches to people, absolutely melts for cuddles, rubs, and all the affection you can share.I am microchipped, up to date on vaccines, neutered and I am good on a leash, house trained, and a true love bug.If I sound like a fantastic addition to your active lifestyle, please come a spend some time with me. Contact the great people at the Humane Society of Sedona to make an appointment for a meet and greet at: 928.282.4679 any day of the week 10am-4pm; excluding major holidays. I hope that you’ll be the person to make my dreams of a second family come true!

Story
Hello Sedona,My name is Chunks. I am a big lovable boy with an even bigger personality! True to my name, I take up plenty of space in the yard, on the couch and most importantly...in your heart. I am a handsome pup who would thrive in a home with room to stretch his legs, explore and enjoy all the adventures life has to offer. Despite my larger than life size, I am a sweet, goofy canine companion who loves attention and being part of the family. If you’re looking for a massive cuddle buddy with a heart as chunky as my paws... I am ready to fit right into your life!I am neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines. If I sound like a good fit for you, please contact the loving folks at the Humane Society of Sedona at: 928.282.4679 any day of the week 10am-4pm; excluding major holidays and come say `hi!`

Story
Look no further than me, Sampson a 5-year-old German Shepherd that has been bunking and playing with the shelter volunteers since last June after I was found as a stray at Sunset Park. I’ve been spending a few days on a superb sleepover at a volunteer’s house where we visited a garden shop, Home Depot, Posse park, and the Paws Thrift Store. Here’s my exciting report card for the weekend:A+ on Manners: I was gentle, well-mannered and a true gentleman indoors. I was happy to lie on the floor and even happier to be next to people on the couch or bed when invited. If someone didn’t want me on their furniture, I’d be fine with that, but what a treat the couch was compared to the shelter concrete! I had lots of fun retrieving and returning my squeaky toy right back to my friend, so we played fetch for a long time. I remembered how great it is to live in a home and as my volunteer friend sat and read, I just relaxed and was thrilled to just hang out with her. At bedtime I started out in the crate, but when I whimpered, I was invited up on the bed. What a wonderful heavenly delight! I was very gentle and quiet so we both had a good night’s rest. However, I could be crate trained if my new family wanted. A on Not Showing Reactivity: I did no resource guarding and let my human friend take my food away mid meal and take my toys away when play time was over. I was not interested in taking food that wasn’t mine from the table, but I was curious about what was on the garage counter and in the corners. Not wanting to blow my chance of being in a home again I responded quickly when my name was called. I was curious but didn’t bark and I did excellently in Home Depot around all the people and noises but did not see any other dogs. I need to be the only dog in your home, and I would not be good around cats or other small animals.C on Outdoor Skills: in the past I reacted to a bigger dog and frequently wanted to chase small dogs and small critters and it’s hard to get my attention off my target. If they are out of sight, they are out of mind. However, this weekend I was calm and just watched birds out the window. My behavior improves when I feel safe, confident, loved and hopeful in my environment. I need direct training and guidance to improve my leash skills as I am really a strong puller. I believe that I can change with coaching and yummy treats. I am seriously working to decrease my tendency to pull when walking and it’s improving too as I need frequ
