Story
I’m Axel a playful, friendly, curious, happy, 1-year-old Staffordshire Terrier. I am quite handsome with beautiful cream and tan markings and soft eyes. I listen quickly to `down and sit` commands and am looking for a person to be my friend, coach, trainer and pack leader to provide routine structure for me, calmness, loving touch, and planned outlets for my playfulness. I am a puppy who easily attaches to people, absolutely melts for cuddles, rubs, and all the affection you can share.I am fun to play with and do not react to other dogs with barking. I am a fetch champion and will run with one ball in my mouth to eagerly get to a second ball. A home with access to an enclosed yard would be great. I was recently adopted and returned to the shelter as I don`t get along with cats, who knew? I need to be the only dog in your home without small pets. I am an entertaining dog that likes to do fun things. I get a goofy smile on my face when I am happy and that is most of the time. I am becoming a calm dog and as a young dog, I am looking forward to finding someone special to bond with me.I am microchipped, up to date on vaccines, neutered and I am good on a leash, house trained, and a true love bug.If I sound like a fantastic addition to your active lifestyle, please come a spend some time with me. Contact the great people at the Humane Society of Sedona to make an appointment for a meet and greet at: 928.282.4679 any day of the week 10am-4pm; excluding major holidays. I hope that you’ll be the person to make my dreams of a second family come true!

Story
Chad is such a sweet & shy dog who came from a rough past and he's just now learning that humans can be kind. He has slowly been making progress at the shelter, but he really needs a home & committed family to continue his training & socialization. What we know: -Shy but very food motivated. Treats & meal time is the way to his heart to help him bond with his family. -Gets along with some dogs, but he gets picked on by a lot of dogs here at the shelter :( He would love a friendly dog friend to show him the ropes and play with him. -Working on potty training, crate training, leash walking etc. He will need your support & love to master these in a home! -He would love a confident, experienced dog owner to help him learn & grow! -Unknown how he is with kids or cats. But we would recommend no young kids due to his fearful nature. Come meet me at High Country Humane located at 11665 N. Highway 89, Flagstaff, AZ 86004. Our shelter is open Thursday–Tuesday, 11am–5pm, and closed on Wednesdays. Adopting with High Country Humane means your new pet is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped (we register it for free!). Each adoption also includes a free health exam. Please bring a leash and collar with you or plan to purchase here. We can’t wait to help you meet your new furry friend!

Story
Lizzie is looking for a loving home! ❤️ Things the team knows about me: • I’ve been living in a foster home since arriving at the shelter, and I LOVE all the extra attention and cuddles! • I absolutely adore people and love being part of the action. • I’m super smart and eager to learn. • Couch snuggles are one of my favorite things ever. • I’m working hard on my leash manners. I’m strong, excited, and full of energy! • I’d love to meet any potential dog siblings before going home. • Cats and small animals are not my thing. A note from my foster: “Lizzie has loved every single person she’s met! She’s getting used to our horses, llamas, and alpacas too. She’s still not a fan of cats, but she’s showing friendly interest in other dogs. She continues to improve her leash skills and has never had a potty accident in our home! She’s curious about everything, especially music and TV, and does the cutest head tilt when she hears interesting sounds. Her favorite things are her ball and snuggling with her humans. She may howl briefly when left alone, but settles quickly. Lizzie is going to make an amazing companion.” Interested in meeting Lizzie? TEXT her foster at 480-298-6888 to set up a meet-and-greet or ask questions! Adopting with High Country Humane means your new pet is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped (with free registration!), and comes with a free health exam. Please bring a leash and collar or plan to purchase them here. We can’t wait to help you meet your new best friend!

Story
Bella is a truly special girl with a gentle soul and so much love to give. Though she is losing her vision, she handles it beautifully and navigates her world with confidence once she knows her surroundings. She may be a little nervous at first, but her sweet nature shines through as soon as she feels safe. What makes Bella special: ✔️ Blind, but adapts and manages it very well ✔️ Potty trained & non-destructive ✔️ Leash trained ✔️ Very sweet and affectionate ✔️ Does best with a calm, patient approach. No young kiddos please! Bella would thrive in a loving home that understands she may need a little extra reassurance while settling in. In return, she’ll offer unwavering companionship, gentle affection, and a deep bond with her people. Come meet me at High Country Humane, located at 11665 N. Highway 89, Flagstaff, AZ 86004. Our shelter is open Thursday–Tuesday, 11 am–5 pm, and closed on Wednesdays.

Story
My name is Onyx, and I am a 1-year-old terrier, labrador and bully mix. I am a playful girl, smart, curious, a bit shy but ready to make human friends and eager to be cared for and loved. I am a good pooch, and an active person would be my ideal human!I have become attached to many volunteers at the shelter, and I am responding to ‘sit’ commands and to my name most of the time when I am called. I start out somewhat shy and enjoy making human friends. I like structure, kindness, and consistency. I really enjoy sitting close to my person for body rubs and attention. Here I feel loved, safe and form close bonds with people. I enjoy calm moments as much as I enjoy playtime.I was adopted but it turns out I wasn’t a good fit with the folks. Now I am feeling anxious after returning to the shelter a few weeks ago as the shelter noise makes me uneasy. Clear structure and gentle guidance will help me feel confident. I would thrive as the only dog in a loving home. I am a cautious girl looking for patient humans.I am spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines. Are you able and ready to provide me with patience, structure and love? Since I am still a puppy, training is something I look forward to and need. You can call the great staff at the Humane Society of Sedona at: 928.282.4679 any day of the week 10am-4pm; excluding major holidays. I’d love to meet you, and the kids so come say ‘hi’.
