ABOUT SABLE
Sable is a 2-year-old bully mix with a big body and an even bigger heart! She came to HAP when her owner was no longer able to care for her. Her first few days at the shelter were a little rough, as home life was all she had ever known. However, as she settled in and we got to know her, she quickly became a volunteer favorite for her excited wiggles and wags whenever she greets a friend! Despite her size, Sable is a big sweetheart who has plenty of love to give! This affectionate girl loves soaking up attention from her favorite people and is always happy to receive some extra pets and cuddles. Sable already knows basic commands and appears to be house-trained, giving her a great head start as she transitions into her next home. Sable has thrived participating in our Doggy Day Out program, where she can make tons of new friends and explore the world! Here's what our volunteers had to say about her:
"LOVED SABLE!! I had the best time with this sweetheart on our DDO. She hopped in the car and immediately laid down. It was great to see how confident & at ease she was in the car. At White Clay, we sniffed around the fields and eventually hung out to sunbathe. Sable can pull quite a bit but I feel like much of that has to be some pent up energy and our first time out together! She has the most soulful eyes, I loved getting to see her smile by the end of it! She knows how to sit & takes treats with manners. We enjoyed some chicken nuggets & French fries before heading back to the shelter. How is this girl still here!!" - Connor
"Got to hang out with Sable today and we had such a blast! We went on a couple walks and went through UD campus to see some people and she was great! I took her to see a couple of friends and we got to hang out in the yard then relax at home for the end of the day. Sable was such a pleasure to have and she got to make lots of new friends today! "I had sable today!!! This was my first DDO and she was such an angel. She didn't bark once and was so good in the car! We had a pup cup which she loved, and did two walks! She does pull on the walks because she is so excited. We did see a squirrel and she lunged, but if you have a strong grip/control it's okay!! She snuggled with me and all my friends, wouldn't leave my side and gave so many kisses! Such a good girl!" - Kaitlyn
"Got lucky enough to take out Sable today!! She was the perfect dog and such a sweetheart. Warmed up as soon as we got into the house. Shes a big girl but wants to be a lap dog with everyone she sees. She loves sniffing everything on walks and saying hi to people passing by. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
