ABOUT ROSIE Rosie’s life began in a heartbreaking situation. She was rescued from a dog-fighting ring in Pennsylvania, a past no dog should ever endure. At that rescue, Rosie was adopted out and finally thought she had a chance for a peaceful future. But then, she was abandoned on our property, and while we were able to locate her former owners, they chose not to reclaim her. Through every loss and upheaval, Rosie has continued to do something remarkable: she has never lost trust or love in people! Now 9 years old, this pittie mix is hoping to truly find her forever! Rosie adores people and forms deep bonds with her humans. She’s the kind of dog you’ll find snuggled up with staff and volunteers, soaking up every cuddle she can get. Her tail wags easily, her eyes are soft, and her affection is endless. Rosie has worked hard to become the wonderful companion she is today. She’s house-trained, walks beautifully on a leash, knows her basic commands, and is eager to please. Being food-motivated makes her a quick learner, and she loves showing off how smart she is! Her favorite moments are the simple ones, rolling in the grass, enjoying the outdoors, and stretching out at your feet for belly rubs! Because of her past experiences, Rosie needs to be the only pet in the home, where she can feel safe and secure. In return, she will give unwavering loyalty, affection, and companionship! **Rosie must be the only pet in a home! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

ABOUT SUGAR COOKIE As her name would suggest, this lady is sweet as sugar! Sugar Cookie came to HAP when she was abandoned as a stray. Despite looking for her owner, sadly, no one came looking for her. We estimate her to be around 6 years old. While many pups may lose trust after being abandoned, that is not our Sugar! She loves people and making new friends! When she's not leaning into your legs or climbing in your lap for love, she can usually be seen curled up on her bed for a nice, long nap. Sugar has made some doggy friends at the shelter too, though she prefers more laid-back pups. She already knows basic commands, appears house-trained and walks well on a leash. Sugar has thrived participating in our Doggy Day Out program, check out what one volunteer had to say about her: "Today I hung out with Sugar Cookie. She is just the sweetest thing, she did so great in the car, and loved sitting on my friends laps so she could stick her head out the window. We went on a walk and ran around the back yard. Sugar was pretty good on a leash and only needed some redirection (which she responded very well to). She loved feeling the snow on her paws. We then went back in to have a dance party where she jumped and ran around the whole time. Eventually she got tired out and we snuggled on the couch. She truly is the most precious, loving dog who deserves the BEST home ever. I love her." - Grace "Got to take out the sweetest Sugar Cookie today. She's truly an angel and was so good the whole time. She walked very nicely on her leash, stayed calm the whole time, and wanted to say hi to everyone. Everyone who met her on the walk loved her and she loved getting butt scratches from everyone haha. She'd be a wonderful addition to any home " - Anna "Sugar Cookie is a sweet pitty girl. She is very sweet and loves her people so we decided it was time to take her out and about. She walks well on the leash but is a strong girl and can pull a little bit. She takes her treats nicely and knows basic commands. She was pretty well-behaved inside a public establishment with multiple other dogs around. She met lots of people, including some kids at both establishments we visited. She rode well in the car and just enjoyed looking out the windows and sniffing the air! I would not hesitate to take her out and about again so she can show everyone how great she is!" - Tim. Story
ABOUT JACKSON Jackson is a 3-year-old active boy, affectionately known as “Jaxy” by the staff and volunteers. This handsome pup came to HAP after his previous owner could no longer care for him. Understandably, after being surrendered, he is sometimes unsure who to trust and may take some time to warm up. Once he's comfortable, Jaxy is a sweet and loving boy who adores his people! He enjoys being outdoors and loves running around our barnyard, taking in all the exciting sights and smells. He’s very treat-motivated, loves back scratches, and has a blast rolling around with his toys. Jaxy already knows “sit” and “paw,” and he’s currently working on his leash manners. Jackson has participated in our Doggy day Out program too! Here's what our volunteers had to say about him: "Today I took Jackson out and he did really well! We went on a long walk around my neighborhood, which he enjoyed and it tired him out. After that, we stopped at McDonald’s for a happy meal then sat in the car at battery park to people watch (which he also enjoyed). Even though I got him his own happy meal, he decided that wasn’t enough and ate my food as well. The only time Jackson seemed to get worked up is when we were cuddling and a squirrel had the audacity to run by a tree that was way across the field, but don’t worry Jackson scared it off so we were safe once again! He definitely enjoys people watching from afar as opposed to being in the middle of all of the commotion. Jackson is the sweetest boy ever and I absolutely adore him, hopefully this silly boy can find his perfect home!" - Erica "We went for a 2.5 mile walk and hung out at the house. He was great in the car, but is dramatic in every sense of the word outside of the vehicle. On the walk, goofy boy wants to chase every bird and squirrel. He could benefit with some leash work with distractions to work on pulling and reactivity to other animals. At home he was rolling around everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE. He was hilarious, swimming in a dog bed. He knew some commands like paw, sit, down. He definitely has that playful puppy energy. He loves butt scratches and will just fall into you to get them - DRAMATIC. All in all he was super sweet, super goofy, and super strong. I hope he will find a home, I do feel like he will be a great dog for someone." - Taylor *Jackson is seeking a home as your only pet! Story
Graham is a very sweet and playful dog! He is one of our longest residents as he has been here since September of 2022! We took him on from another rescue, so he has not known much of the comforts of a home. He enjoys walks outside, playing with toys, and sleeping in crazy positions. He loves attention from anyone and everyone. He just wants to be loved. In his ideal home he would be the only pet as he loves all the attention to himself. He would do well with kids 10+ as he doesn’t know that he is a little to large to be a lap do. He would do best in a home with an active owner. His adoption fee is covered by an amazing sponsor. Please fill out an application to meet Graham!

Story
Meet Gracie Gracie is a big “little” puppy at heart and the ultimate cozy companion. Her favorite place in the world is snuggled under a blanket—but since she can’t burrow under covers herself, she’s looking for a human who’s happy to tuck her in for naps and especially at bedtime. She knows exactly what “bedtime” and “time for bed” mean and will happily follow you to bed, where she sleeps right by your side. Gracie is a gentle clinger in the best way—she’ll follow you from room to room to keep you company while still respecting your space. Her favorite words are “dinner” and “breakfast,” and she comes running when she hears them. She’s also a big fan of bananas (she always gets the last bite!) and cheese—so fair warning, she expects you not to be stingy. She enjoys going for walks but prefers her space from other dogs, so leash walks with distance are best for her. At home, Gracie is wonderfully quiet and low-energy. She doesn’t bark; instead, she may let out a tiny grunt when she’s excited. She’s a true couch potato who sleeps most of the day and is incredibly easy to care for. Gracie is very polite about bathroom time. She won’t bark to alert you—she simply sits quietly by the back door when she needs to go out, so paying attention to her subtle cues is important. After potty breaks, she expects her reward (she’s trained her human well), and she does the cutest little happy dance when she knows a treat is coming. One of Gracie’s most endearing quirks? She “sings” along (adorably whining) when she hears guitar music. It’s impossible not to smile. She is crate-trained and happily goes into her crate when her person leaves—especially since she always gets a treat first. Gracie does best in a large crate where she has plenty of room to stretch out and get comfortable. Gracie is a loving, loyal, and easygoing companion who has been deeply loved and spoiled. Due to a change in her person’s situation, they can no longer care for her, but they hope her next family will continue to spoil her just as much.January 23, 2026, 10:29 am

Please contact Marilyn at 856-275-6905 for more information about this pet.  This dog is located in Newark, DE. Visit us on the web at https://fur-everpaws.com/fur-ever-paws-adoption-application/ to submit an application. Please contact the foster directly at 856-275-6905 (call or text) or via email at Fureverpawsdogrescue@gmail.com&#226&#128&#139 Fur Ever Paws Dog Rescue is a small no kill rescue operating in the Delaware/Maryland area. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit that rescues and places homeless, neglected or abused dogs from high-kill shelters in the south into loving, responsible committed and permanent homes. We feel our comprehensive adoption process which includes not only taking the time to match the dog to the prospective new owner but helping to educate that owner in responsible dog care, allows us to find the best homes for our little buddies and the best companions for you! Each week we use USDA certified transports to bring dogs from high-kill shelters in the south to our fosters where they all receive the appropriate medical care and are placed in nurturing loving homes while they await placement in their forever homes. Interested in one of our dogs? Great! Now that you've seen them here, you'll need to go to our website where you'll find our list of adoptable dogs (updated every week). Then, it's just a simple process of finding a dog you're interested in and filling out an application on our site. Once we receive your application, whoever is fostering that particular dog will contact you and do a short over the phone interview to complete your application process. If everything works out, they will set an appointment with you so come out and "visit" with the dog you're interested in (we want to make sure that not only are you a good fit for the dog but that the dog will fit with you). If everything works out, you'll be able to take rover (or spot, or jax) home with you that very day. A couple of things you should know: We can't hold dogs over the phone or via email. Adoption fees vary based on breed. All of our dogs have been vet checked and dewormed (if possible due to age, additional treatment may be needed). We provide a spay or neuter voucher to all of our adopters. &#226&#128&#139 January 27, 2026, 1:42 pm
