Story
Lola's Story There are things about her past we will never know. But we know enough. We know that Lola lived a life where the people who were supposed to protect her failed her. We know her body suffered from neglect. And we know that, through it all, she became a mother and tried desperately to care for her babies when she herself needed someone to care for her. When Lola was first seen, the picture was heartbreaking. She was painfully thin and clearly suffering. At first, everyone hoped she was simply a straya lost dog who had been wandering for a long time. But Lola wasn't lost. She had a home. She had an owner. And that was when her story became even more heartbreaking. Lolas story touched hearts around the world, and soon, people everywhere were following her story and hoping for her rescue. Desperate to save her, the woman who found Lola created a flyer offering a $100 reward to anyone who could help identify where she belonged. At first, the owner insisted that he had no dogs. But when he was shown the reward, everything changed. Suddenly, he admitted that Lola lived there. He agreed to release her, but when the finder tried to lead Lola away, something unexpected happened. Lola kept pulling back toward the house. She didnt want to leave. At the time, no one understood why. Lola was taken to the veterinarian, where she was expected to remain for approximately three weeks while her severely depleted body began to recover. It was there that the vet discovered something that changed everything: Lola was producing milk. She was a mother. Those desperate attempts to return to the house suddenly made sense. Her newborn babies were still there. The founder rushed back to get them. After nearly 24 hours, the owner finally released the puppiesor at least, everyone believed he had. Only later did they discover that two puppies had been kept behind. The babies who were rescued had already gone too long without their mothers milk. They were tiny and fragile, and despite every effort to save them, one by one, they began to fade. Only one out of 7 puppies survived. Lolaspent weeks receiving medical care. People who had never even met her donated- the biggest donor was from Ireland, shared her story, searched for help and refused to let her disappear. For perhaps the first time in her life, people were fighting FOR Lola instead of failing her. Today, Lola is safe. But healing a body is sometimes easier than healing a heart. And through all of this, she never lost her gentle heart. Lola is one of the sweetest, most gentle souls you could ever meet. After everything people have put her through, somehow she still chooses to trust and love. She is calm, affectionate, and incredibly grateful for even the smallest bit of kindness. She loves being close to people and is happiest simply knowing someone is there beside her. Lola is still learning what it means to feel completely safe. Loud voices can frighten her, and sometimes she lowers herself or becomes unsure, as though she is expecting to be in trouble. But little by little, she is realizing that she no longer has to be afraid. She has never truly known what it feels like to be part of a loving family. Now, for the first time, she is discovering soft beds, gentle hands, kind voices, and people who want nothing from her except to see her happy. She is wonderful with kids, dogs and gets along beautifully with everyone she meets. More than anything Lola wants to please. Her past will always be part of her story. But it will not define her future. She survived the part of her story that broke our hearts. Now its time to give her the ending she deserves.
