Story
Pepper’s favorite thing is being near her people. If you move rooms, she follows. If you sit down, she quietly leans her 57 pounds beside you and settles in like she has always been part of the family. She connects quickly and genuinely with the people she meets, and her gentle nature shows right away.
She is a 3.5 year old American Pit Bull Terrier, medium sized, with a short low shed coat and soft, expressive eyes, incredibly sweet and remarkably gentle. She loves people and warms up quickly to new ones. She takes cues very well and responds nicely to direction. She already knows sit, stay, and give paw, and she is eager to please.
One of the nicest things we learned about Pepper during foster, is how well she matches the energy around her. If it is playtime, she is excited and ready to go. Toss a ball or grab a rope toy and she is all in. If the house is calm, she settles right along with it and relaxes nearby. She is fully potty trained and crate trained. When she is ready to rest, she walks right into her crate on her own and settles comfortably. On walks she does well and enjoys getting out to explore.
Pepper has also been wonderful with the other dogs she has met so far. She is curious and genuinely enjoys canine company.
She previously lived with a family and returned to the shelter due to housing loss, not behavior. From everything we have seen, she knows how to be part of a home and quickly becomes a devoted companion. Pepper would do beautifully with someone who wants a dog that is affectionate, responsive, playful, and calm when it is time to unwind. An individual or a family - she is just happy to be invited to the party. If you are looking for a loyal dog who will bond quickly and bring warmth into your home, Pepper is the dog you have been waiting for.
