Story
Nelson is a sweet 6-year-old pitbull mix (45 lbs). We adopted him in 2019 when he was a year old, and he’s been a beloved part of our family ever since. Unfortunately, due to his anxiety and our growing family, we’re looking for a home that better fits his needs. Nelson’s ideal day involves plenty of naps, lounging on his bed, and enjoying some treats. He’s a calm and affectionate dog when in a comfortable environment and doesn’t require a lot of exercise. Nelson does have anxiety that can make him reactive around small children and unfamiliar people in the home. He has a bite history from a high-arousal training session with a new guest in 2021. His interactions with our toddler have never been negative, but his arousal level during play can be high, and he may jump in excitement, so we have had to keep them completely separated--creating an unsustainable environment for all. We want Nelson to have a peaceful home where he can relax and thrive.

Santini has excellent manners and is house trained and crate trained. She would love to show off everything she has learned including sit, stay, down, and heel (for a treat of course)! Santini is happy to fit into her humans' routine and picks up quickly on new commands. She is very accommodating, walks well on a leash, and corrects/redirects easily. Santini loves to play, but is also happy to hang out with her people around the house.Santini would do best as the only dog in the house with an experienced dog owner who can maintain consistent boundaries and expectations to help her succeed and feel reassured. She is an athletic gal who loves to chase after balls and show off her signature ‘hopping prance’. She would love to have a fenced in yard or a local fenced in area so she can show off her moves! When she has finally expended all of her energy you can find her searching for the best sunbathing spot to take a snooze in. Santini is a sweet, gentle soul who wants nothing more than to be loved and make you laugh with her goofy antics. Please Note: All dogs are posted until they are officially adopted. This certified couch potato adores snuggling and snoozing—just pardon her adorable snoring! But don’t let her chill vibe fool you—Lyra is anything but boring. When she’s not napping, she loves car rides, exploring the great outdoors, and chewing on her favorite toys.Lyra is wonderfully social and gets along with dogs of all shapes and sizes (her current BFF is a Great Dane!). She greets new dogs politely with a sniff and happily joins in if they want to play. If not, she respectfully moves on to find another buddy. She’s also been around kids ages 7 and 9 and was sweet and gentle with them. Cats? No problem—Lyra lived with felines in foster care and did great.Lyra's manners will impress you! She is house-trained, crate-trained, and has earned furniture privileges thanks to her good behavior. She loves her daily strolls and on leash, she’s a dream—aside from a little happy weaving when saying hello. Are you looking for the ultimate couch companion?
