Story
Kane is a 7 year old pitbull bulldog mix he is a very sweet boy but sadly suffers from seizures. He has some permanent damage to his eye sight and at night has accidents because he still has small seizures while he sleeps. Unfortunately because of his eye sight he scares very easily and is uneasy on his feet. He will need a quiet patient home with no small children. I wish we didn't have to rehome him but w several small kids 1 being autistic the noises and quick movements scare him and he gets very defensive growling and barring his teeth because he can't see them. Our home is no longer what is best for him and we want him to have a happy quiet life

Story
Nova is approximately 8 months old and about 50 pounds. I adopted her from a puppy rescue in NY where she was transported to from the south at 4 months old. I do not have much history other than coming from the south, but in the time I’ve known her she is a sweet girl-loves to give kisses on your face, loves being around people, loves a good adventure and then sleeping under the blankets with you at night. Unfortunately, I have several cats in the home whom she chases constantly causing a lot of stress in the household. She is a very social dog, she LOVES other dogs—I have spoken with a trainer and she would really benefit from a household with a household with another dog. She engages in some boredom behaviors like destructive chewing and pacing, likely due to boredom. I just cannot provide her with the lifestyle she needs. She requires a home with: •An experienced adopter willing to train •fenced in yard •dog companion •no cats/small animals in the home

Story
Hey hey hey hey! My name is Lucky, and I think that I'm just the luckiest guy in the world because you're here to visit me! I love people and doing any and all things active. I would make a wonderful hiking, running, or parachuting buddy. Ok, maybe not parachuting, but I am definitely an adventure seeker who just wants to be with you as much as I can! I love nothing more than playing tug with rope toys. I think of it as super fun and a way that my people can get their upper body/core workouts for the day in. I'm just trying to be helpful! I also like to play with other dogs, but I can be a bit "much" for some, so I'll need someone who can keep up with me. I am working on my house training, but it's really hard here in the shelter. I need a patient owner who is willing to work with me on training, since I'm smart and love to learn! I would be a great candidate for obedience classes to build on what I already know. I lived in my previous home with a younger child and was friendly, but had to be crated a lot since my owner had to work a lot and I was so exuberant with the little one that I'd knock them over frequently. Kennel staff think it best that I go home with kids 5 and older so I wouldn't be so likely to hurt them without meaning to!Weight: 54If you think that I could be a good fit for you and your family, please call the kennel staff at (413) 447-7878 ext.126 or swing by the shelter to speak with kennel staff and meet me!

Story
Hi there, my name is Sophie! I am a wonderfully sweet lady who was brought to the shelter when my owner no longer had housing and the ability to care for me. I love to meet people and consider strangers to be friends that I just haven't met yet! If we really get along, sometimes I'll even treat you to a serenade in the language of my people. Because of my vocal prowess, I will require a house setting, so as not to disturb any neighbors through shared walls. I like to spend time outdoors and cavort around in the pen with staff, but am also quite content to hang out inside and snuggle with my people. I could potentially live with a goofy large male dog but am very picky about the dogs I like. I do have a prey drive and cannot live with cats or small dogs. I am house trained and keep my kennel nice and clean, which staff have told me is "good girl behavior" in addition to my never ending sweetness! If you think I could be the perfect new family member for you, please call the kennel staff at (413) 447-7878 ext.126 to learn more about me and how to meet me and hopefully take me home!

Story
Hallå! I'm Freya and true to my name, I am an absolute goddess of love! Socializing with people and going outside for walks and romps in the pen are just some of my favorite activities. I can be a bit wary of men at first, but I warm up quickly, and have no issues with new women at all. I was brought to the Berkshire Humane Society when my previous housemate (another unspayed adult female) and I would get into scuffles, usually resulting in minor injuries for me, and our owner could not manage to keep us separate anymore. Since coming to the shelter, I have made many human friends, but need a home without any other female dogs. I also cannot live with cats as I do have a bit of a prey drive. I settle nicely in my kennel with an occupier, but can be a tad vocal when I can see my people from my kennel, but cannot get to them. What can I say, I just want to be with my human friends as much as possible! If you thinkI could be a good fit for your family, please call the kennel staff at (413) 447-7878 ext.126 to learn more about me and how to meet me!

Story
Hi all! My name is Starr and I am a lovely older lady who is looking for a loving home that I can snuggle the day away. I could potentially live with another dog as I did in my home before coming to the shelter, preferably male, but no cats, please! I tend to have a strong prey drive and like to chase small, furry critters. I could live in a home with children, as I lived with a young human in my last home. Sometimes I can be vocal, but it's just to let you know that someone is here, if you weren't already aware! Because of this, I would be best in a house environment so that I don't disturb any neighbors with my singing voice! I am house trained and love to go outside and sniff around the pens and go on long-line "sniffari" walks with the staff and volunteers here at the shelter. If you think I might be a good fit for your family, please call the kennel staff at (413) 447-7878 ext.126 to find out how to meet me and maybe take me home!Weight: 67lbs.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ROSCA was saved from a kill shelter in Georgia and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024. She along with 3 other pitties that he was saved with are extremely emaciated with pressure sores that they are currently on medications for. ROSCA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. She has an estimated date of birth of 4 April 2023 and in April 2024 weighed of 32 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. This sweet girl has a lot of healing to do, but is so loving and gentle. She needs an extra special family who can give her the life she deserves and help her forget the abuse, neglect and starvation she has suffered. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue   YouTube channel  and   photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. ROSCA is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a  reduced adoption  fee of $550. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. CATS - We do not have cats in the kennels and are not able to say how our dogs are with cats. Story
Sasha-******TLC Club Member*******10 year old pitbull terrier, not good with cats, no kids, potty trained. Sasha is an active Pitty girl who was adopted out and returned due to a change in circumstances. Sasha has moderate to high energy but also will be happy snuggling on the couch for some of the day. Sasha would do best in a home with pitbull experience And in a home with no kids as she can get over excited by too much stimulation. Sasha can live with other dogs though we recommend dogs who are calmer and will tolerate her poor play manners well and who will not overstimulate her. Sasha gets spring allergies that cause her to have red eyes and itchy skin. This has been treated by providing her with Allergy pills when the allergies come on and are resolved when the seasons change. Sasha would do well in a home with no cats and in a home with someone who has experience setting boundaries and limitations. And a home with a fenced yard is a must. Please note we do not have a central kennel facility, all of our pets are located in foster homes.
