Story
Meet Tank – The Final Hippo Pup Has Entered the Chat Last but certainly not least, it’s time to introduce Tank — the final member of our beloved hippo puppy crew. You may be wondering why this chunky hunk made his debut a little later than his siblings… and the answer is simple: Tank is a warrior. Tank was recovering from puppy strangles (also called juvenile cellulitis), a rare immune-mediated condition seen in young puppies. It can cause swelling of the face and lymph nodes, sores, and scabbing — and while it can look scary,  The important thing to know is this: &#226&#158&#161&#239&#184&#143 It is NOT contagious &#226&#158&#161&#239&#184&#143 It is NOT caused by poor care &#226&#158&#161&#239&#184&#143 It IS treatable Tank has completed his treatment, is feeling great, and is back to doing what puppies do best — eating, playing, napping, and being adorable. He does still have a few healing scabs, but they are resolving nicely and are purely cosmetic at this stage. As for his personality? Tank lives up to his name in the best way possible. He’s a solid, sweet, affectionate little hippo with a gentle soul and a heart just as big as his paws. He loves people, enjoys playtime, and is ready to start the next chapter of his life with a family who will adore him as much as we do. Tank didn’t let a rough start slow him down — and now he’s ready to roll straight into a forever home. If you’re looking for a resilient, loving puppy with a story and a whole lot of charm… Tank is your guy. &#226&#156&#168 We also have included a link for anyone interested in learning more about it:  https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/juvenile-cellulitis-puppy-stranglesJanuary 16, 2026, 9:04 pm

Story
Name: Horton Age:  8 week Breed: Pit Bull Mix Gender: Male  Weight: 10 Good with kids:  yes Good with dogs: yes Good with cats: yes Current on vaccinations: Yes Adoption also includes Certified Vet Inspection, and Prior vetting paperwork. Foster location: Menasha   Application & Website: https://www.ourpackanimalrescue.com/adoption.html Bio: Meet Horton! Horton is a 8 week-old pit mix who came to Wisconsin with his brother Howie! He was a bottle baby and was one of the 3 survivors out of his litter of 13. He is still learning about the world around him and adjusting to life as a pup. He has the most stunning blue eyes and is ready to play, eat, nap, and poo Horton needs an echocardiogram, and unfortunately this isn’t a “wait and see” situation. His heart murmur is sitting at a grade 5/6, which means we need answers — and a plan — sooner than later.  Horton feels good today. He’s waggy, sweet, and completely unaware that his heart is being a little extra. And that’s exactly why we’re moving quickly. An echo will tell us what’s going on inside that big heart of his and how we can best support him moving forward. Specialty diagnostics like this aren’t cheap, but they are necessary.  This test helps determine treatment, medication, and what Horton’s future looks like — and it gives us the ability to advocate for him the right way. This test will determine if he will grow out of it, if it is a fixable or nonfixable issue with surgery which ultimately could lead to a shorter life. Loving dogs means listening to their hearts — literally. Like all puppies, Horton will need ALL the things: Training (potty, crate, manners… the whole syllabus) Socialization and confidence-building Structure, patience, consistency Love, guidance, and a sense of humor And yes… sleep deprivation, nippy teeth, and surprise messes Puppies are a ton of work, and Horton will require an adopter who understands that raising a good dog doesn’t happen by accident—it takes time, effort, and commitment. But if you’re up for the challenge, the payoff is huge: a loyal, confident, well-rounded companion who grows up knowing he’s safe, loved, and supported. Howie is ready to learn all the puppy things and would thrive with someone excited to put in the work and enjoy the journey. Meet and greets are arranged after an application has been approved. An approved application does not mean you must adopt the dog of interest, if it isn't a good fit.January 28, 2026, 4:03 pm
