Meet Duke, a handsome 1-year-old, 75 lb German Shepherd who is ready to find his forever co-pilot!
Duke is a young, intelligent boy with a big heart and a bright future. He has already put in the work with training and has mastered some skills: he walks nicely on a leash, waits patiently when doors open, and has a great recall when called.
Here is what you need to know about this wonderful boy:
Affection & Personality: Duke is a total sweetheart who bonds deeply with his human. He is friendly with strangers and loves nothing more than snuggling up for some quality cuddle time after an active day.
Brain & Brawn: True to his breed, Duke is exceptionally intelligent. He needs an active owner who will provide both physical exercise and mental stimulation (puzzle toys and brain games are a must!). If Duke gets bored, his clever mind will find its own entertainment—he’s even smart enough to operate door handles! Because of his problem-solving skills, exterior doors must have secure locks to keep him safely indoors.
Dog & Animal Compatibility: Duke does well with other dogs when given a proper, structured introduction. However, he prefers canine companions who share his cool composure; he will bark at small, hyper, or yappy dogs. No cats for Duke, please!
Home Manners & Travel: Duke is potty trained, crate trained, and sleeps soundly through the night. He is also a star passenger and rides like a dream in the car.
Ideal Home: Duke requires an experienced dog owner who understands working or high-intelligence breeds and can provide consistent leadership, engagement, and routine. He is not suitable for a first-time owner.
