Story
Meet Zippy: Your New Best Friend! If you’re looking for a dog that is "just right," look no further. Zippy is a stunning German Shepherd mix who clocks in at a perfect 45 lbs and stands 21 inches at the shoulder—big enough for a sturdy hike, but small enough to not take up the entire sofa. Why You’ll Love Him: The Entertainer: Zippy is a world-class athlete when it comes to squeaky toys. He loves to toss them high into the air and catch them himself! He’s also a dedicated fan of fetch. The Travel Buddy: He rides like a total dream in the car. Whether it’s a trip to the coffee shop or a cross-country road trip, he’s ready to buckle up. The Gentle Soul: Generally a quiet guy, Zippy saves his voice for the best parts of the day. You’ll get a signature "woo woo woo" greeting when he wakes up or when you walk through the front door. The Shadow: He’s the ultimate companion. He’ll happily snooze at your feet while you work, but the moment you get up, he’s right there to follow you to the next adventure. The Details: Social Skills: Dog-friendly! Leash Manners: He walks very well on a leash, though he’d appreciate a little "fine-tuning" as he learns your specific pace. Garden Duty: Zippy takes his outdoor chores seriously—he likes to personally double-check that every tree and shrub in the yard is "sufficiently watered." Brain Power: He already knows several basic commands and has those dazzling eyes that make it very hard to say no to one more treat. Zippy is the perfect blend of playfulness and chill. He’s just waiting for a person to follow and a yard to patrol.

Story
MEET RINGO! Ringo is a handsome 8-1/2-year-old German Shepherd in need of a foster or forever home. He was rescued from a shelter awhile back and is ready for a new leash on life! He is very intelligent and loyal. Ringo bonds intensely with his person, so would thrive in a home with a single person, or possibly a couple with German Shepherd experience ideally. Like most shepherds, he will be your true companion. He may be protective, so a quiet home/setting is important for him. Ringo loves car rides and riding in the front seat! He would love road trips and other adventures. He takes treats gently and sits on command. He has done well around other dogs. Ringo is currently in Southern California, but can be transported to Idaho. Please email for an application. He weighs about 69 lbs.

Story
Ella is the biggest sweetheart ever! Everyone who meets her falls in love. She has done well with all farm animals, cats, dogs, and kids. There has only been one dog that she has had to stay away from and we can’t figure out why she dislikes him so. Ella loves to play with toys, enjoys snuggling, rides well in a car, and is crate and potty trained. Ella does well on and off leash. She knows basic cues. Ella does need to either have hip surgery or be on pain medication and NSDR is trying to fundraiser and save up for her surgery. She is in pain; if you happen to touch a sore spot, she will signal to you that it hurts. While she is still in pain it is best she is in a home without toddlers that might lean on her or bump her. Ella is already spayed, chipped, UTD on vaccines, dewormed. Ella is 5 year old and a German shepherd. If you're interested in Ella, please go to the link below and fill out a foster form or pre-adoption application: Linktr.ee/northernstardogrescue

Story
Bruce is as goofy as they come. He is a big boy who acts like the biggest kid ever. He and Knuckles know and love each other. They are great friends from their past. Once reunited it was such a wonderful thing to see and made us cry. He is great with every person and animal he meets. Bruce loves to play with his friends and curl up with you. He likes to jump up and give as many kisses as possible, so be prepared for a wet face. Bruce doesn’t like to be left alone; he will need another dog friend. Bruce has had a very hard life. Yet, through it all he stands tall and you wouldn’t know that he went through any of it. His story is long and can be discussed in depth via phone or meeting with serious applicants. Bruce is crate trained, house trained, and leash trained. Bruce is about 2 1/2 years old at the time this is posted and we think he may have German shepherd and Siberian husky in him. If you’re interested in Bruce, please fill out the pre adoption application on link below. Https://linktr.ee/northernstardogrescue

This gentle giant is very curious of feline friends so he would do best in a home without kitties!Health & Care:Neutered and up to date on all vaccinationsHouse-ready and fine in a walk-in kennel when neededIf you’re looking for a big-hearted, fun-loving dog who will bring endless joy and laughter into your life, The Captain is your guy. Izzy is a happy, energetic 1-year-old German Shepherd/Australian Shepherd mix weighing about 40 pounds. She loves toys, playtime, and would thrive with an active family that can continue her training and give her plenty of exercise and enrichment. Izzy is potty trained, knows basic commands, and is friendly with both people and other dogs. She is curious about cats and would do best with dog-savvy cats who are comfortable around playful dogs. Izzy was born without a tail, which adds to her unique charm. She is currently in foster care in Boise and is looking for a foster-to-adopt or forever home where she can continue to grow and shine.

Story
HI -I'M NOMI! I'm a 5-1/2-year-old beautiful and sweet Dutch Shepherd-Pit mix in need of a foster or forever home. My name means "beautiful" and "delightful" and it is so fitting, because I have a gorgeous brindle coat and a sweet face & personality. I was rescued from a Los Angeles-area shelter, and now have been waiting patiently for someone to notice me - for about two years! I am gentle with people, and am friendly with most dogs. I love to be with people and I love to shake a paw! I weigh 68 pounds. Can you foster or adopt me? I really want a home. I'm currently in California, but can be transported to Idaho. Please email for an application.
