MEET GRACE & KATIE, two beautiful, sweet & loving black German Shepherds! Both of these lovely girls -- a mom and her pup -- with stunning black coats were rescued from a crowded California shelter, and they are very bonded. Grace & Katie are also good with other dogs and lovely with people. Grace, the mama dog, is about 5 years old, and Katie is a 2-year-old girl now. Both dogs have also done fairly well around cats but would need to be monitored. Katie weighs about 60-65 lbs, and Grace weighs about 71-75 lbs. They've waited a long time for a home because we are trying to place them together, so if you can open your home to two dogs, please email for an application. They also need a foster! He's smart, loyal, obedient, playful, and incredibly loving/affectionate. TITAN enjoys bath time and splashing around in backyard water play and snow--though he's not a fan of swimming in lakes. He can entertain himself for hours with his favorite rope toys and balls. TITAN has not been around cats or livestock. He has occasionally been around elementary school kids and showed no reaction to kids playing on the school grounds during a recent walk. TITAN has a medium energy level, enjoys the company of other dogs, and has never shown any reactivity. TITAN walks well on a leash and enjoys car rides. He jumped right into a volunteer's vehicle at the beginning of a walk. TITAN has been living outdoors, so will need some reminders for housetraining and crate-training, but he's a smart dog who should pick it up quickly in the right environment. Ella is the biggest sweetheart ever! Everyone who meets her falls in love. She has done well with all farm animals, cats, dogs, and kids. There has only been one dog that she has had to stay away from and we can’t figure out why she dislikes him so. Ella loves to play with toys, enjoys snuggling, rides well in a car, and is crate and potty trained. Ella does well on and off leash. She knows basic cues. Ella does need to either have hip surgery or be on pain medication and NSDR is trying to fundraiser and save up for her surgery. She is in pain; if you happen to touch a sore spot, she will signal to you that it hurts. While she is still in pain it is best she is in a home without toddlers that might lean on her or bump her. Ella is already spayed, chipped, UTD on vaccines, dewormed. Ella is 5 year old and a German shepherd. Meet Jimmy, a 3yo female Czech Sheppard! Jimmy is short for Gemma- she is the bestest good girl! She comes from a working line of Czech shepherds (pure bred) with strong, vet-verified hip and spine strength and health. My husband took her in with the intention of having her work as a police K9, but she doesn’t have the “aggression” in her to do apprehension. I (mom) have been working from home the past few years and recently started working out of the house and Jimmy is struggling with the separation. We have kids ranging from 4-12, and another young dog who she loves and is protective of. Gem talks a lot, and says “Good morning” every day! She’s a sweet thing who needs walks every day and lots of snuggles. Our recent life changes unfortunately are not giving her what she is desperately wanting. We desperately want the best for her, which would probably be a family that can prioritize a walk and some Kong fetch in a big backyard. If you don’t have a yard, this girl isn’t for you.
