Story
**Hi, I'm Remington... but my friends call me Remi!** I like to think of myself as the perfect combination of couch potato and adventure buddy. My mornings are very structured: breakfast, followed immediately by an important nap. Once I've recharged my batteries, I'm happy to spend the day hanging out with my people before gearing up for afternoon adventures. Whether it's a hike, camping trip, car ride, or just tossing a ball around the backyard, I'm all in. Fetch is one of my favorite games, and if there are friendly dogs around who want to run and wrestle, even better! I've never met a stranger—I love making new human friends almost as much as canine ones. When I'm feeling extra affectionate, I'll gently paw your leg or dramatically flop over for belly rubs (my absolute favorite form of payment). I may occasionally forget my manners and jump up when I'm *really* excited to see my favorite people, but I've been working hard on keeping all four paws on the ground. At home, I'm a dream roommate. I'm house-trained, crate-trained, know several commands (especially if snacks are involved), and I'm happy to quietly hang out while you work. I do have a bit of selective hearing when treats aren't on the menu, but honestly... can you blame me? One thing to know about me: I have a high prey drive, so cats and other small critters are a little too exciting for me. I also think squirrels are highly suspicious and deserve to be investigated immediately. One of my cutest quirks? I rarely bark while I'm awake, but apparently my dream life is incredibly exciting. I bark in my sleep, twitch my paws like I'm running, and somehow make napping look like an extreme sport. I also love supervising the household from the top step of the stairs like the world's cutest security guard. If you're looking for a loyal sidekick who's just as happy joining you on outdoor adventures as she is relaxing at home by your side, I think we're going to have a whole lot of fun together.

Story
Hi! I’m a sweet, loving German Shepherd puppy with a big heart and an even bigger personality. When I first arrived at my foster home, I was a little confused by all the new sights, sounds, and routines. After a few days, though, I started figuring things out and have been improving every day since. I love people and am always excited to say hello! I used to get so excited about pets and attention that I could hardly contain myself, but I’m learning how to settle down and enjoy the love. I still need some help with my manners, but I’m a smart girl who is eager to learn. My sisters and I spend a lot of time together. We love wrestling, playing, and making lots of noise while we have fun! We’re active throughout the day, but we also enjoy relaxing, taking naps, and cuddling with our people. I’m starting to discover how much fun toys can be, especially stuffies, and I enjoy finding creative ways to entertain myself. Notebook paper is particularly fascinating—I like to see how many tiny pieces I can turn it into! I also love running up for pets, asking for belly rubs, and curling up close to my people. Sometimes I even fall asleep on a lap after giving plenty of puppy kisses. I’m doing very well with kennel training and sleep quietly through the night without accidents. My potty training has improved tremendously since I arrived, and I continue to make progress every day. I actually like my kennel and often choose to relax there on my own, especially if I want a shady spot or a cozy nap. Leashes aren’t my favorite thing yet, but I’m working on that too. I’m curious about other dogs and enjoy playing, although larger dogs can make me a little timid at first. Like any puppy, I still need supervision because I enjoy chewing on things and can squeeze into surprisingly small spaces—sometimes getting out is the tricky part! If you adopt me, be prepared for endless affection, plenty of laughs, and a loyal best friend who will adore you with her whole heart. ---- *Rescue puppies are notorious for losing their birth certificates before entering our rescue. We cannot guarantee the breed or size they will be full grown.*

Story
Meet Cardi — the dog all dogs wish they were! This mixed-breed sweetheart is as sweet as candy and loyal to the very end. Cardi has a passion for tennis balls, cuddling, and b eing right by your side every second of the day. She’s a bubbly, intelligent girl with a heart bigger than the earth itself. At nine years young, Cardi certainly doesn’t act her age—aside from the adorable dusting of frost on her nose! She still has plenty of happy, active years ahead. She’s fully house-trained, knows multiple commands, and is incredibly eager to please. Cardi loves learning and thrives on connection with her person. Her favorite activities include fetch (especially with her beloved tennis balls—she’s convinced two are better than one!), Kong chews, tug, walks, and snuggling up close. She’d also be a great match for puzzle toys or games like hide-and-seek. Cardi walks nicely on leash and can entertain herself when needed, but her favorite place is always right next to you. Despite her size, Cardi is very gentle and tolerant—she happily accepts pets, handling, and affection with a wagging tail and a smile. She’s also quite the talker and will happily “chat” with you like she’s part of the conversation. Cardi has been through a lot. After her owner passed away, she found herself in a stressful shelter environment and narrowly avoided euthanasia. Through it all, she’s remained incredibly loving and resilient. Her outlook? “Tragic backstory noted—anyway, who wants to hang out?” Cardi does well with other dogs when given slow, proper introductions and thoughtful management. She enjoys canine companionship and can successfully live with other dogs who respect her space and boundaries, especially around toys. Cardi has also shown that she doesn't seem to mind cats. With a patient introduction period and the right match, she can thrive in a multi-pet home. Cardi loves big and assumes everyone she meets is a friend. She deserves a home where she can soak up affection, enjoy her toys, and go on plenty of walks. Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car—it comes with character, a few quirks, and maybe a little extra maintenance. Expect the occasional “tune-up” at the vet and embrace those normal lumps and bumps as part of her charm. Ruff Start will share all known health information and recommendations to help keep Cardi feeling her best. If you’re ready to give this amazing girl the second chance she deserves, Cardi is ready to be your loyal companion.
