Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, I'm Gervonta, but my friends call me Tank or G-Unit. I was living on the streets for a long time until I finally just gave up and let Animal Control take me in. I was so hungry and so tired, and covered in ticks.   I spend some time on the inside where I was very scared and shy with people, but I liked to see the other dogs. Some lady came and busted me out and now I have my own bedroom, 2 full meals a day, and get so many treats! I even got to go on a run with her and my new foster sister! I live with two humans, 2 dogs, a tiny puppy and a cat (or so I've heard, I haven't seen her yet). I haven't gotten much opportunity to play with the other dogs because the humans say I need to take it slow, but I just want to wrestle!   I sleep in my kennel all night, and I have no problem going in there, but sometimes I cry for a little bit and make some noise before I settle down. I don't like to be alone. I've assured the humans that they can leave me out and I won't do anything bad, but I guess too many dogs have broken their trust before. I'll get used to it with time.   I walk really well on the leash, I never pull. I haven't met any small humans or cats yet, so I'm not sure how I feel about them, but I think I'll meet some soon. I'd love to find a forever home with a nice yard that will let me play, and take me for walks, and I bet I'd even like to go to breweries when I get a little more confident with people!   Gervonta is from a local impound. Story
It is with a heavy heart that I am deciding to rehome Kairo. Kairo is a three-year-old German shepherd who loves the outdoors. He was really a part of my family. Due to current circumstances, I believe that it is best to find him a family that could give him the attention that he deserves. He is wary around strangers but once he gets use to you, he is a sweetheart. It will take time to get him used to you so I would suggest someone who is experienced with this breed or dogs. I am not in a rush and will make sure he goes to a great home.

Story
Franny is a petite little girl who walks nicely on a leash, is house broken, athletic, and most importantly, is friendly and affectionate. She is a year old, born August, 2022. She grew up as a country dog on the prairie and coming to the city with all the trucks and noise was quite the surprise, but since there are squirrels and rabbits galore here, she couldn’t be happier. Franny and her 4 puppies were surrendered to PUP as the family had too many dogs and wanted them all to get good homes of their own. Mommy weighs 31# and looks like a Kelpie mix. Typically dogs from this area have a dozen or more breeds, often Shepherds, lab, husky or Chihuahua. Mommy is still with the pups and is looking after them, but has stopped nursing. Mommy is ready to go to her forever home after her spay on September 18. Franny lived in an area with many loose dogs, not all of them very nice. She is wary meeting new dogs and while we expect she would do fine in a multi-dog household, she would also be fine being an only dog. She is living with other puppies and dogs and gets along just fine. We think she will do well with older children but she is not living with children now and her previous family was all adults. She is careful meeting new humans but bonds quickly after a brief time of getting to know you. Franny has been vet checked, spayed, wormed and had two routine vaccinations and rabies. The adoption fee is $375(check or cash). We do place dogs outside the metro area We do not ship. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a dog, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. If you elect to contact us via e-mail it may take several weeks for us to get back to you. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a dog. Please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if you have other pets.

Story
Maria looks like a little fox and is the smallest of the litter. She is an affectionate, well socialized pup that we believe is about 10 weeks old. She arrived at PUP well fed and well cared for. We think her mom (pictured) is a Swiss White Shepherd mix (basically a white German Shepherd). Maria is built a bit differently, is smaller and her face is a bit sharper than her siblings, so we suspect she has a different daddy then the rest of the litter. DNA from dogs from the area often have Chihuahua, Husky, lab, and one or more of the herding dogs. It is not uncommon for there to be 20 or more breeds in the DNA mix. If Maria ends up being a Shepherd Chihuahua we wouldn't be surprised! Maria is a real cuddler and is always on the hunt for a lap. We believe Maria will weigh about 45-55 as an adult but that is best guess, and her adopter should be prepared to love her if she is larger or smaller when she is all done growing. Maria and her 3 siblings were surrendered to PUP by their owners who lived in a remote rural area. They wanted to find good homes for their pups so they surrendered them to PUP and asked if we would help them get their mom dog spayed. The answer was yes. Puppies are now living with other puppies and dogs and are thriving. They have had lots of company and lap up the attention. Maria is doing a good job of learning housebreaking but she is not quite there yet. She pees right away when she goes out. If you take her out on a regular basis, it all ends up outside. She is being crated at night and for 3-4 hour stints during the work day. She walks reasonably well on a leash (for a puppy). The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. Maria has been vaccinated and wormed. She will need two more routine vaccination plus rabies at the owner’s expense. The $375 adoption fee (check or cash) includes the cost of pup’s required spay/neuter at 6 months of age provided it is done by one of the PUP vets. We do place puppies outside the metro area but a plan for the required spay/neuter must be in place. We do not ship. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. If you elect to contact us via e-mail it may take several weeks for us to get back to you. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. To speed up the adoption process, please complete our Pre-Adoption Application. Atlas, a 3 year old, 40lb female Border Collie mix who wants to rescue a loving, active family in need of an amazing canine companion. Atlas is a beautiful, athletic and enthusiastic girl who loves to run and play. She wants to take her new family on walks, outings, hikes, and generally ensure they soak up as much vitamin D as possible so they are happy and healthy.  Atlas is very good with other dogs and is sweet with her humans she gets to know. However, at home Atlas prefers a relaxed environment, with a steady routine, and little commotion. So we believe it would be best for her to start in a home without kids or dogs.  She loves a good nap on the couch as well as curling up in her crate for some alone time to recharge her batteries. Atlas would love a fenced yard, but would do equally well in a home that loves to go for regular walks.  The ideal home for this beauty understands that smart dogs need to be kept busy and active. As well as a partner that is patient enough to teach her how to turn off and relax when the job is done. She would love to take classes with her person to help build their relationship as they get to know each other. Atlas’s ideal human is confident in their dog skills and will take the time to establish a strong bond with her so she knows they have her back at all times. She does have some stranger danger and worries about new people, but will warm up once she knows they can respect her boundaries. She warms up even faster when people she trusts show her that it is safe.  Once Atlas finds her perfect family to rescue, she is ready for a full and fun life! She is available for a $250 adoption fee that goes directly toward training with Your Dog’s Best Friend. This dog is not with Happy Tails- Any applications will be forwarded and applicant will be contacted. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.The breeds of our dogs and cats are a 'best guess.' We often do not know what mix they are and have to base it on what we think they look like, and base it on breeds often found in the area they came from. Most of our dogs who have gotten DNA tests done are 4-10 breeds mixed together. Because their breed mix is a guess we cannot guarantee a 'full grown size' of many of our younger animals.Interested in adopting me?
