Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, February 24th unless he/she is adopted prior to the event with a set up home. The event is from 12 pm to 3 pm at Palo Alto's Pet Food Express. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event. Adoption Fee: $700   Mulan is a 1 year old Shiba x Parsons Terrier mix who traveled all the way from China to find her forever home! Our amazing rescue partner in China saves dogs from the streets and after they travel across the ocean, they come to the US to find forever families of their very own! Mulan can’t wait to get down to business and find her happy ever after with you!   Below is a note from Mulan’s foster.  “Mulan has blossomed in the time she has been with us. When she first arrived, the world was very new to her and she watched from a distance. Now, she loves affection and sees us as the center of her universe. She loves to climb into our laps and get scratched for hours at a time. She is perfectly content to hang out on her own and play with toys at the same time however. She is a great mix of cuddler and independent. Mulan adores her soft toys and her soft dog beds. All the best luxuries for this princess! Mulan wakes up with me at 7 AM. She is crate trained so she sleeps happily through the night in her crate. We go out for a potty break and then she has breakfast at 8 AM. She gets several potty breaks during the day and has dinner at 5 PM. During the day she hangs out, plays with toys, naps, and trains to defeat the Huns! Bedtime is at 10 PM.  Mulan is great with other dogs once she gets a chance to warm up to them. She is making progress on her leash walking skills but would do well with a confident owner who can continue building her confidence. Mulan does well on a potty schedule.  Mulan is the kind of dog where you will feel her love bloom as she gets to know you. Despite her rocky start in life, she is a happy and loving dog who will be a fabulous addition to any home!”   Mulan is only an option for a home who has owned a dog in the past 5 years, with emphasis on homes with shy dog experience. Kids in the home should be over the age of 8.March 5, 2024, 8:10 am

Story
Dudu, our 6 year old shiba boy, is looking for a new home. He grew up with my shiba girl and they had been living with a golden retriever for a year before. He loves to play with balls, has good poop and pee habits, has No food guarding and No possession aggression, well crate-trained and can sleep in a crate every night with no problem, energetic but doesn't break up the house. He is not a picky eater. Dudu is a bit sensitive, not baby/kid friendly, doesn't like small dogs such as Yorkshire and Corgi, highly likely to exhibit aggressive and assaultive behavior to them. But Dudu doesn't show aggressive behavior to normal adults or teenagers. He will allow you to freely pet his head and tummy if he gets familiar with you. Because we have a baby and can't let him live harmoniously with our baby, we're sincerely looking for a new loving home for him. Check out Dudu's life on Instagram: @dudu_minnie. If you or someone you know could provide Dudu with a great home, please get in touch.

Story
Hello world - I’m Marlo, a 7-year old Shiba Inu looking for my forever home! I’m not good with small kids or other dogs, which is why I need to find a new home. Otherwise I love adult-sized humans and enjoy playing games, lounging on the couch, and going on car rides. My favorite games are chasing my tail and playing fetch with soft toys (although I don’t always return them). I’m fully potty and crate trained, good on-leash, and well trained to not chew on objects in the house except for my toys. I am very food motivated and know sit, down, here, heel, out, spin, up, and paw. I do have a bite history - I felt threatened by a stranger and tried to defend myself. It’s best to be cautious with me around new people, but once they give me a treat I’m their best friend. The best fit home for me would be with a dog-experienced adult-sized human(s) who don’t plan to have kids or other dogs around and have the knowledge and experience to help heal my relationship with strangers.

Story
We are looking for a new loving home for Haruki, our three-year-old Shiba Inu. Haruki is a male dog, neutered, and originally from Taiwan. We have had him since he was just three months old. While we deeply love him, Haruki has displayed behavioral issues, including biting us and our friends on multiple occasions. Despite our efforts in enrolling him in a training school and consulting with several trainers, we have not seen significant improvement. We are now seeking someone with experience in handling and training dogs who can provide Haruki with the guidance he needs. If you believe you can offer him a caring and structured environment, please get in touch.
