Adoption fee: $700 Meet Skippy & Jif Skippy and Jif are 10–12 week old Shiba mix puppies, each weighing about 9 lbs, who came to our rescue from a trusted Southern California partner. While they share a peanut butter–themed beginning, we are seeking separate homes where each puppy can truly shine as the center of attention. Both are sweet, affectionate babies with that ideal puppy balance of loving calm moments and playful bursts of energy. They are the kind of puppies who happily cuddle one minute and enthusiastically play the next. Named after the iconic peanut butter brands, Skippy and Jif fit their names perfectly, though in very unique and equally charming ways. Jif Jif is the smooth peanut butter of the pair. He is comforting, gentle, and quietly affectionate. He has a stocky little puppy build, an adorably round belly, and deep, soulful eyes that immediately pull you in. Jif loves curling up in a lap, soaking in attention, and staying close to his people. He enjoys playtime and wrestling, but once the excitement winds down, he is the first to settle in for cuddles. He has a naturally calm presence for such a young puppy and brings a steady, sweet energy wherever he goes. Skippy Skippy is the crunchy peanut butter. She is confident, curious, and full of sparkle. Her rust-gold coat catches the light beautifully, and her striking hazel eyes are impossible to miss. Skippy loves to explore, initiate play, and proudly show off her toys. She is playful and spirited, but still very people-oriented and affectionate. After she has burned off her puppy energy, she happily checks back in for snuggles and reassurance. Daily Routine Their day usually starts around 7am with happy wiggles, excited whines, and mild disbelief that bedtime ever ended. After a potty break, it is breakfast time. Kibble is available throughout the day, but they tend to eat on a puppy schedule in the morning, around midday, and again in the early evening. Once fueled up, they dive into playtime both indoors and outside, usually romping for about an hour at a time. When playtime winds down, they gravitate toward their foster’s lap for cuddles. That is followed by another potty break and a nap in their pen or crate. They typically nap for 60 to 75 minutes before waking up ready to start the cycle again. By around 9pm, they settle in for the night, with an optional late potty break if needed. Play & Personality When playing together, Skippy and Jif put on a full puppy performance. There is wrestling, chasing, playful growling, and the occasional dramatic tumble. When squeaky toys appear, they instantly become allies and team up for epic tug-of-war sessions. They are also just beginning to understand fetch and will sometimes bring the ball back, usually so they can grab it and run off again. Both puppies are affectionate and very people-focused. When given space to explore, they choose to stay close to their humans rather than wander off. They are vocal in sweet, age-appropriate ways, greeting people with happy sounds and briefly protesting when confined, though they settle quickly. Training & Home Life Training has just begun, and treats are a powerful motivator. They are learning to sit and are eager to please. They get daily collar and leash time in the driveway, which they are still adjusting to. Potty pads are used reliably overnight, while daytime potty training is still a work in progress, which is completely normal for their age. They have not been on formal walks yet but do well with respectful children ages 12 and 15. They tolerate gentle handling well and have medium puppy energy. They are playful and active without being overwhelming. The Perfect Fit Skippy and Jif would each thrive in a loving home ready for puppy joy, cuddles, and a little chaos. They are happy, affectionate babies who are eager to bond deeply with their people and become someone’s very best companion. Whether you lean smooth or crunchy, each puppy is ready to stick to your heart.January 21, 2026, 2:17 pm
