Story
Katsu is 8 years old. I've had him since he was 1 years old. I acquired him through a friend who wanted to rehome Katsu. I want Katsu to go to a great home who is able to take him on walks and love him. He's been such a great companion to me, so that is why I believe he'd have a much better life in a home who can care for him. I am recently married and we have a child on the way. We haven't had the time that Katsu deserves. Katsu is a very loving dog, but is very independent. He's a super smart dog, so be careful because he does like to get out. On the rare chance he does get out, he always finds his way back home. He's very good with people and kids, but can be mean to some dogs. It's hit and miss when it comes to other dogs. I haven't socialized him much with other dogs though. Anyone who takes him with definitely love him. It took a lot of thought and discussion to give up such a great dog, but I know there's a better home for him out there.

Story
HIGHLIGHT: #### - May require another confident dog in the home to help build trust. Meet Rosco — a 6-year-old Shiba Inu weighing 31.5 pounds who is still learning that the world can be a kind and gentle place. Right now, Rosco is very fearful and unsure of human interaction. He is not yet ready for pets or close contact, but with time, patience, and the right environment, there is so much potential for this sweet boy to grow. Rosco finds comfort in the presence of other dogs and may benefit greatly from having a confident canine companion in the home to help guide him. A calm, consistent routine and a gentle approach will be key to helping him feel safe as he slowly adjusts to new surroundings and begins to trust. Despite his fears, Rosco has a quiet charm about him and deserves a home that will give him the time and space he needs. Watching him make progress—even the smallest step—will be a truly meaningful and rewarding experience. Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with time and a gentle approach, most of these dogs adapt quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is incredibly rewarding. To learn more about our dogs and start the adoption process, please visit our website.

Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure TJ finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   TJ | 6-Month-Old Shiba Inu/Lab Mix | Playful, Curious, and Full of Personality Meet TJ, an energetic and affectionate 6-month-old Shiba Inu/Lab mix who’s as sweet as he is spunky. Weighing in at about 19 pounds, TJ is still very much a puppy—curious about everything, eager to play, and learning as he goes. He’s doing well with kennel training and sleeps through the night like a champ. While he’s making progress with house training, he still has some work to do and will thrive with consistency and patience. TJ loves other dogs and would do best in a home with a playful canine companion who can help him learn structure and boundaries. He’s also great with kids and does well with cats—though he mostly just acknowledges them and moves on. Walks are an adventure for TJ; he’s still learning not to pull and may chew on his leash, but he’s eager to please and motivated by food, toys, and affection. This fun-loving pup has a medium-to-high energy level and enjoys keeping up with active dogs like Aussies and Border Collies. When left alone, he does best with another dog for company and may get into mischief if he finds something chewable—so he’ll need a home that’s puppy-proofed and ready to guide him through his growing stages. TJ is playful, loving, and ready to find a family who can keep up with his energy and enthusiasm. With a bit of training and a lot of love, he’s sure to become a loyal, joyful companion for life.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $450 (includes a $50 refundable puppy training deposit). Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
