Story
Introducing Katie—a gorgeous Shiba Inu with a heart full of resilience and a spirit that simply won’t quit. Rescued from a commercial breeder, Katie spent years missing out on the love and attention every pup deserves. But despite her past, she’s held onto her bold personality and her deep desire to be part of a family. Katie is strong-willed (as any true Shiba should be!) and fiercely determined to make up for lost time—with snuggles, companionship, and lots of tail wags. Katie thrives on affection and lights up when she’s around people. Whether she’s quietly laying by your side or nudging your hand for more pets, she makes it clear: she wants to be loved, and she’s ready to give that love right back. With a little patience and a lot of heart, Katie will blossom into your most loyal and devoted friend. If Katie sounds like the missing piece to your family, don’t wait—head to happylifeanimalrescue.org to register for adoption. Once you’ve registered, you can meet Katie at one of our open hours or upcoming adoption events. She’s ready to write a brand-new chapter, and it starts with you!

Story
*Name: Bonnet *Age: 1 year old *Current Weight: 34 lbs  *Adoption fee: $475 Sweet Bonnet has been through more than most pups her age, but you’d never know it from her bright spirit and wagging tail. She found herself at a shelter in south Texas with a severely mangled leg. Unfortunately, her leg needed to be amputated – and she hasn’t missed a beat since despite being a tripawd. Now a happy, healthy, and resilient pup, Bonnet is thriving. She is housebroken, crate trained and is learning basic obedience. She is food and praise motivated which makes training with her fun! Bonnet is super affectionate and loves being with her people. She is wonderful with other dogs and would make a fantastic playmate. Her gentle and affectionate nature also makes her a great match for kids. She could live with a dog savvy cat as she is very curious and wants to be friends. She is friendly with everyone she meets and always has a wagging tail. Whether she’s romping around the yard, cuddling on the couch, or charming everyone she meets with her sweet soulful eyes and playful grin, Bonnet is pure joy. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, loyal, and incredibly special companion, Bonnet is ready to bring endless love and tail wags into your life. Could you be her forever family? Story
Meet Gohan – Our Adorable, Spirited Shiba Inu! Gohan is a lively, intelligent young Shiba Inu who lives life at full speed. True to his breed, he’s confident and strong-willed—a little alpha with a big personality! He’ll keep you on your toes, but you’ll never be bored with Gohan around. He loves: *Car rides *Tagging along to the office with his foster mom *Meeting new people and dogs *FOOD—he’s highly food-motivated! Gohan is extremely active and can be quite wiggly when picked up. Unfortunately, he once wiggled out of someone’s arms and broke his paw, but we’re happy to share that he has made a full recovery, and the vet says he’s doing fantastic! Due to his high energy, mouthiness (puppy nipping), and size, we recommend a home: *Without young children (kids 12 and up only) *With a very patient, submissive dog if there's another dog in the home *No cats, please *With a fenced backyard, ideally a privacy fence *With an active family who understands the energy and spirit of the Shiba Inu breed. We encourage all potential adopters to do their research on Shiba Inus—they’re not for the faint of heart, but they are incredibly rewarding for the right person. Gohan is not suitable as an emotional support dog, and he’s best matched with someone who is experienced with strong-willed breeds. We highly recommend potential adopters research the Shiba Inu breed to understand the level of commitment and training they require. Gohan is current on all vaccinations, on heartworm prevention, and microchipped. If you're ready to welcome this spunky little guy into your life, please complete our adoption application. 🐕 Please Note: No homes with children under the age of 12, due to his small size and mouthy behavior.

Story
Our once shy puppy girl Roxie has grown into a playful canine socialite!! Sharing adventures and new experiences with fellow dogs has enabled her to unleash her inner puppy!! Roxie can play all day with her dog pals.. trail blaze in a pack on long leashes.. nose to the ground and her curly little tail high and waggy! Once completely shut down and cowering in corners, "foxy Roxie" now chases balls.. and often returns them except in the event she gets side tracked by the sight of a whirring ball tossed for another dog .. and off she goes to join the chase! One of her favorite games involves the hose.. on any setting! Roxie bites and snaps the out pouring water no matter what setting its on jet, shower or mist! She also kinda plays jump rope and repeatedly runs into the water spray full on.. getting drenched and loving's every moment!! Roxie has a number of unique and highly entertaining moves in her play style .. she actually bounces.. kangaroo style.. also literally leaps over her mates .. even those quite a bit taller than she is.. Roxie like a lot of dogs is really into rolling and somehow manages to roll in tandem with her pals .. almost as if merged into one dog! She's got great play etiquette.. smoothly moves from running chase games to prone mouth wrestling.. to sharing a drink at the water bucket and then lounging comfortably for a rest before it all starts again! THANK YOU for your interest in a rescue dog!
