Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rose is a young, purebred Shiba Inu who came to the shelter as an owner surrender due to rental restrictions. She's a tiny gal at around 17 pounds and will be a year old in April. She's a cool dog with the typical Shiba personality. They can be stubborn, fun loving, and march to the beat of their own drum. Rose will be vet checked and spayed soon and her fee is $150. Rose is bright eyed and enjoys exploring the world around her. She will require good, regular exercise. Rose has done well with other dogs and older kids. She has been around cats and is said to try to play with them, not that all cats are thrilled with that. She would be a fun companion and will definitely keep a person on their toes. She has had a little bit of basic training, but will need a lot of attention and not to be left alone too much. She quickly showed that she is capable of vocally getting her point across (the "Shiba scream")! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered. Story
HAS AN ADOPTION HOLD* Meet Deedee! Deedee is a sweet, shy lady who made need some extra time before feeling comfortable in a new home. She has briefly lived with other dogs and was overwhelmed by the younger dogs' energy. Due to this, we think she may prefer to be a solo dog or to live with calm, more mellow dog. She hasn't had experience with young children, but with her nervous nature, we would recommend older kids who can give her space when she needs it. Once Deedee is comfortable, she loves to be by her people's side! She has a lot of energy and enjoys chasing after tennis balls. She's still working on bringing the ball back, but she has the spirit! This smart lady already knows sit and lay down. Deedee would love to have durable toys to chew on and keep them entertained. Patient and consistent training using treats is a good way to work on obedience cues. Ask a TCHS staff about suggestions for the perfect toy for your new friend from the TCHS Re-Tail Shoppe. She's cute as a button and has a slight underbite that just adds to her charm! Come meet this sweetie today! *Adoption holds may be placed on available animals in person or by calling (320) 252-0896. An adoption hold reserves available animals for one day after the animal is ready to be adopted. More than one adoption hold may be placed on an available animal and will be honored in the order they were received. Adoption holds are $25 plus tax, are non-refundable, non-transferable and not applied toward the adoption fee. **Minnesota sales tax and an administrative fee ($20 for cats/dogs and $10 for small animals) will be applied to all adoptions. Donations and adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter surgeries, microchipping, vaccinating, deworming, any medical procedures, and general care of all shelter animals. Story
Hi! My name is Rodger and I'm looking for a loving home to call my own! I am a year and a half old and I've been back at the shelter since 2/20.I am a very sweet lil dude who loves getting attention! I am an active guy who loves to zoom zoom zoom. I can be a little bit stubborn but I will eventually listen to commands. I am a little picky with toys but I will take any treat offered and I love spending time with my favorite humans! My ideal home would be very active to keep up with my energy and knowledgeable on my breed. I made my way to the shelter as a stray so staff is unsure how I would do with dogs, cats and kids. Staff think I would probably do best as an only animal due to my breed characteristics and from what they have seen at the shelter! If you are interested in adopting me, please visit Animal Allies at 4006 Airport Road or you can call the Adoption Team at 218-722-5341 as early as 10:30 AM and place a nonrefundable $25 hold towards my adoption fee to put you first in-line to adopt! Our adoption team is available via phone Tuesday-Friday from 10:30am-6:00pm and Saturday-Sunday 10:30am-4:00pm. Our adoption process is first come first serve.RODGER'S ADOPTION FEE: $325 plus tax. This fee is used for the extensive costs associated with vetting and otherwise caring for Rodger and future pets at our shelter. Every adopter from Animal Allies receives a pet that has been spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. Our pets also receive dental work or other treatments when necessary. In addition, Animal Allies provides free lifetime post-adoption counseling to help with any behavioral issues or concerns you may have for your new pet! Story
My name is Murray and I’m looking for my forever home. I’m 6 y.o. and weigh 28 lbs. I came to my foster home here in Eagan, MN, after I was brought to a shelter as a stray. My foster family can tell that I once had a family, because I’m fully house trained and know how to sit and lie down on command. And when they said my favorite words - “car ride” - I got so excited! I’m sweet and goofy, but I’ve also got quirks. For example, I love people and belly rubs and petting and affection – but so far, only on my terms. I’ll approach you and nudge you when I’m ready. But I am not keen on being handled, so getting a harness on and off can be an ordeal. Yes, there is screaming involved (have you heard a Shiba scream?) There are other dogs here and I’ll play for short spurts, but when I’m done, or not in the mood, I’ll bare my teeth and snap the air to say “back off.” The dogs here respect that, so there have been no problems. I’m neutered, healthy and vaccinated. My foster family noticed that my ears were bothering me, and the dermatologist thinks that I may have allergies. Now that I have medication, they are feeling better. Because I don’t like being handled, going to the vet is stressful for me. My foster family says it works best when I’m sedated ahead of time. My perfect forever family will be experienced and patient as I build trust, and I’ll be the perfect low-maintenance companion. I love to chase critters outside, so cats and small pets are probably not a good match. Same with little kids – not a good fit for my personal space needs. I’d love to have a securely fenced yard. If there is a respectful resident dog, they’ll need to make sure that they can introduce us slowly over time and with careful supervision. I can be vocal, so an apartment with shared walls might not be a good fit. If you live in the Midwest and want a laid-back buddy like me to hang out with, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA make sure we’ll be a good match. Once approved, SIRA will introduce you to my foster mom so we can meet!

Story
Hi, it’s me—the world’s biggest fan of squeaky toys, cuddles, and ignoring the concept of personal space. If you sit down, just know I’ll be sitting on top of you within seconds, preferably with a toy in my mouth that I’ll squeak right into your ear while declaring my love. I currently share my life with two other dogs, and together we’ve formed a professional-level tug-of-war team, but I’m also down for a good game of chase outside. Speaking of outside, it’s my happy place—I’ll strut on a leash like I own the block or hang out on a tie-out. I’m also a kennel pro. I’ll snooze in there no problem, but between us, I’d rather snuggle in bed with you because cuddles > everything. At mealtimes, I like to think of myself as a food enthusiast—okay fine, a food hog—but my foster mom promises me I’ll never have to compete again, so I’m practicing my manners. I enjoy staring dramatically out the window, plotting how to catch squirrels and rabbits (spoiler: they’re winning). I’ve got plenty of energy, but once I wear myself out, I turn into a certified cuddle bug. So—what do you say? Want to adopt a toy-obsessed, cuddle-demanding, squirrel-watching sidekick who will keep life fun, funny, and full of squeaks?   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, dental, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:  $450.00Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 2, 2025, 10:19 pm
