Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Arlo came to the shelter as an owner surrender as his people were moving and could not take him. He is a 2-3 year old shiba inu. He's a very social and loving guy, which is a little bit out of character for shibas. We like it! He had a pretty significant flea infestation before he came to us, which led to a skin infection and bad hair loss. We're treating it and are already seeing a great improvement. He has been vet checked and vaccinated and will be neutered soon. His fee is $150. Arlo also experienced bad frost bite as a newborn and is missing all of the toes on his front feet. This doesn't stop him, however, and he's still able to romp and play. Arlo did live with other animals in his previous home and should be okay with older kids. He's pretty well mannered and an all around good dude. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 29, 2025, 11:53 pm

Story
Meet Lex! Lex is a wonderful Shiba mix looking for his forever home. This super clean and well-mannered boy is fully potty trained and not a barker. He’s easy to have around and loves his routines. Like many Shibas, he does have a tendency to run if given the chance, so a secure fenced yard is a must. Lex gets along well with other dogs who are calm and respectful, especially those that don’t try to dominate him. He’s also fine with cats and is fantastic for grooming, enjoying a good pampering session. Some of Lex’s favorite pastimes include basking in the sunshine, hunting bugs in the grass, and catching treats midair. He would do best with respectful kids who understand his independent nature. Lex would love a home where he can relax, be adored, and enjoy plenty of treats and outdoor time. A home with prior Shiba (or similar breed, like Akita or Finnish Spitz) experience is preferred, as Lex has the trademark independence and confidence these breeds are known for. Lex is about 9 years old, around 40–45 pounds, and takes allergy medication twice a year for seasonal flare-ups. He walks beautifully on leash, is not destructive, and keeps his space spotless. Adoption fee is $350+tax, please apply at www.campcompanion.org

Story
Hi, it’s me—the world’s biggest fan of squeaky toys, cuddles, and ignoring the concept of personal space. If you sit down, just know I’ll be sitting on top of you within seconds, preferably with a toy in my mouth that I’ll squeak right into your ear while declaring my love. I currently share my life with two other dogs, and together we’ve formed a professional-level tug-of-war team, but I’m also down for a good game of chase outside. Speaking of outside, it’s my happy place—I’ll strut on a leash like I own the block or hang out on a tie-out. I’m also a kennel pro. I’ll snooze in there no problem, but between us, I’d rather snuggle in bed with you because cuddles > everything. At mealtimes, I like to think of myself as a food enthusiast—okay fine, a food hog—but my foster mom promises me I’ll never have to compete again, so I’m practicing my manners. I enjoy staring dramatically out the window, plotting how to catch squirrels and rabbits (spoiler: they’re winning). I’ve got plenty of energy, but once I wear myself out, I turn into a certified cuddle bug. So—what do you say? Want to adopt a toy-obsessed, cuddle-demanding, squirrel-watching sidekick who will keep life fun, funny, and full of squeaks?   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, dental, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:  $450.00Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 2, 2025, 10:19 pm
