This will help us ensure your application was successfully received and reviewed. We truly appreciate your patience while we work through this issue — and thank you for wanting to help a rescue dog    — Loyal Rescue   Name/Tag: Kai 4814 Age:  5 yrs old Sex/Altered: Male / Neutered Weight: 25lbs Breed: Shiba Inu Foster Home Location: BRIGHTON, ON Adoption Fee: $750.00 Temperament: Cautious at first, sweet once he gets to know you Activity/Energy Level: Moderate Up to date on Shots: Yes Housebroken: Yes, with prompting Crate Trained: Yes Ok with Dogs: Yes, with proper introduction Ok with Cats?  No Ok with Kids: Yes, kids over 10 yrs old Requirements: Fully fenced yard, minimal alone time to reinforce potty training. Another balanced dog in the home to show him how to be a dog, experienced dog owner, no kids under 10 years old.   Meet Kai! Kai’s world is getting bigger, and his sweet personality is beginning to shine! Kai came to us after retiring from a large breeding facility, where he had spent his life in a crate. His world was very small, but now he’s discovering the comforts and joys of living in a home. Little by little, he’s gaining confidence and learning just how lovely life can be. Kai currently shares his foster home with a younger puppy and a dog around his own age. He loves spending time in the backyard, enjoys giving kisses, playing with squeaky toys and is showing more of his personality every day. Shiba Inu tend to be reserved, but they can be affectionate and attentive with their family. Their intelligence often comes with a stubborn streak, so patience, consistency, and a sense of humour are wonderful qualities in their people! Kai is a clever boy, and his future family should be prepared for a dog who may occasionally outsmart them. We’re proud of the progress he’s making. Kai is doing well with his house training, and sleeps comfortably outside his crate at night. When his foster mom heads out for errands, he stays in his crate. Kai does not walk on a leash yet but with lots of patience he will learn the pleasure of going for walks. Kai would thrive with a patient, experienced dog owner who knows the Shiba Inu breed or has experience with intelligent, independent dogs. He needs someone who will give him time, guidance, and encouragement as he continues to blossom. His foster family has helped him take those first steps, and now we’re looking for someone to pick up where they leave off—helping Kai’s world grow bigger, brighter, and full of love. If you feel you could be that family, please submit an adoption application. Kai’s next chapter could begin with you! Questions? Story
DONGREE   Name: Dongree Age: 4 years old Gender: Female (Spayed) Breed: Jindo/Shiba Mix Color: Brown Weight: 15 kg (33 lbs)   Rescue Story Dongree was rescued from a municipal shelter in Korea and is now getting the chance to show everyone what a lovely girl she is in a home environment.   ‍‍ With People Dongree is a people-loving girl who is friendly and affectionate. She enjoys attention, loves showing affection, and always seems to have a smile on her face. She is comfortable being picked up and has also done well around children under 13.   Her foster says that after arriving at the foster home, Dongree was comfortable going for walks right away and approached people without hesitation. She has been gentle in the home with no growling or barking.   At Home & Home Alone Dongree is surprisingly calm and easygoing indoors. With enough walks and outdoor activity, she is happy to spend her time at home relaxing and sleeping.   When left home alone, she is comfortable settling in her kennel. Her foster is rarely away for long periods, but Dongree has been left alone for up to about 4 hours and has done well. She has shown no separation anxiety, excessive barking, or destructive behavior toward household belongings.   She may occasionally decide that a pee pad is a great thing to shred, though. Her updated foster assessment also describes her as gentle, quiet, and comfortable in a kennel.   Potty Dongree prefers to potty outdoors. During her first week in foster care, she occasionally urinated on pee pads, but once she settled into a regular walking routine, she mostly stopped using them. If she really needs to go, however, she may still use a pee pad indoors.   With Other Dogs Dongree can do well with other dogs when they approach her calmly and respectfully. She can be uncomfortable around larger dogs and dogs with very high energy. If another dog challenges or provokes her, she may stand her ground rather than simply backing away, so thoughtful introductions are important.   With Cats Dongree’s reactions to cats have varied. During one brief indoor cat test, she was calm and mostly uninterested. In another setting, she showed more interest and wanted to approach the cat, and outdoors she may try to chase. Because of this, we would not consider her fully cat-tested or reliably cat-friendly, and any home with a cat would need careful management and very slow introductions.   Walks & Energy Dongree has a moderate energy level. She enjoys being outdoors but settles nicely after getting enough activity. At the beginning of a walk she can pull quite strongly, and once she settles in she tends to focus on sniffing, so her walks can involve plenty of stopping and exploring.   Dongree is still nervous about getting into the car and may need to be picked up and helped inside.   Dongree is affectionate and fun outside, but gentle, quiet and relaxed at home. She would love a family who will give her regular walks, a comfortable routine, and plenty of love. Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org  PLEASE ALSO VISIT OUR FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM! Story
Meet Dongree   Breed: Shiba mix Age: 4 years old Sex: Spayed female Colour: Brown Weight: 14kg Height (to shoulder): 45cm   Rescue Story   Donggree was rescued from a city shelter’s euthanasia list and has been waiting patiently ever since for a family of her own.   She may take a few days to open up — usually between 3 days to a week — but once she feels safe, her loving and playful personality shines through. She’s affectionate with familiar people and allows gentle handling or even being lifted once trust is built.   Personality & Socialization   Donggree has the classic Shiba mix personality — a little cautious at first, independent, yet deeply loyal once she bonds with you.   She gets along well with most dogs, both larger and smaller, but can react if another dog challenges her. For this reason, careful introductions with new dogs are recommended. With friendly dogs, however, she loves to play and enjoys companionship.   Her reaction to cats hasn’t been observed yet. Cat test has been done and did well! Energy Level & Behavior   Donggree has a moderate energy level. She enjoys outdoor walks and activities but settles calmly afterward. She walks well overall, though she may pull on the leash occasionally. Once the leash is on, she follows nicely and enjoys the walk.   She doesn’t guard food from people or other dogs and behaves quietly in her kennel. She feels anxious about car rides, so she prefers to be held during transport.   She’s comfortable using both pee pads indoors and pottying outdoors, which makes her adaptable to different home environments.   A Loyal and Independent Spirit   Donggree is a bright, affectionate girl with that unmistakable Shiba charm — loyal, clean, and quietly confident. She may be cautious at first, but with patience and consistency, she opens up to reveal a loving heart.   Once she trusts you, she’ll become your faithful shadow, following you with her signature calm energy and gentle eyes.   Ideal Home: A patient and understanding family who can give her the time she needs to build trust. A home that appreciates the independent but affectionate nature of Shiba mixes would be perfect for her.   Donggree may take a little time to trust, but once she does, she’ll stay by your side for life — loyal, loving, and full of quiet strength. Apply to foster or adopt to show her how beautiful the world can be. www.adoptmekr.org Please also visit our Facebook or Instagram. Story
Hi… I’m Norang 🤍 I was found wandering in the mountains, after losing my mom. I wasn’t alone back then—I had my siblings with me. But one by one, they found their families and left for their new homes. Now… it’s just me. And I’m still here, waiting. Hoping my turn will come. I’m a bright and friendly boy. I like people, and I get along well with other dogs too. At first, I might feel a little shy… but if you give me just a little time, I’ll come closer with a wagging tail and a curious heart. Because I really do love being near you. I’m still just a puppy—only 1 years old. So I’m full of energy, curiosity, and a little bit of mischief too 😊 I love toys. I love running and playing. And every day, I’m learning something new about the world. There are still many things I don’t know yet. Living in a home, potty training, understanding what I can and can’t do… I’ll need you to teach me all of that, step by step. Sometimes I might chew on things, or make little mistakes. But I’m not trying to be bad—I’m just growing, learning, becoming who I’m meant to be. Right now, I’m not a “perfect” dog. I’m a dog in the middle of becoming. And that means something special— because you get to be part of who I grow into. With your love, your guidance, and your patience, I can become the best companion you could ever ask for. Even after losing my family, I still trust people. I still believe in love. Now I just need someone who won’t leave— someone who will stay, teach me, and grow with me. I don’t want to be alone anymore. I want a home. I want you. Will you be my forever family? 🤍

Story
Hi… my name is Gaon 🐕 I’m a 4-year-old male Shiba × Jindo mix, and I weigh about 18kg.I was once placed on a shelter’s euthanasia list. Even after I was rescued, no one came for me for a very long time. The shelter became the only home I knew—far longer than any dog should have to endure. When people approach me, I don’t rush forward with excitement. Instead, I watch carefully. I’m afraid you might leave. Afraid I might be alone again. So I open my heart slowly, cautiously. But behind that hesitation is a heart that longs deeply to love a person. I simply never learned how to show it. I went so long without being chosen, without being loved, that I don’t always know how to ask for affection. That’s why I struggle when attention is shared with other dogs. It’s not jealousy—it’s more like a quiet plea: “Please don’t leave me this time.”That’s why I’m hoping for an only-dog home, where I can finally feel secure. When it’s just you and me, I’m a completely different dog. I’ll meet your eyes, lean gently against you, and offer shy little gestures of affection. Once I give my heart, I give it fully— with the deep, unwavering loyalty that Jindo dogs are known for.Home life may feel unfamiliar to me at first. I’ll need time, patience, and understanding. But if you’re willing to walk that slow beginning with me, I promise you this: I will become a dog who makes one person my whole world. A once-in-a-lifetime companion who loves quietly, deeply, and forever.Somewhere in a shelter, I’m still waiting— waiting for the one person who will call my name and mean it for life.

Story
🏠 Currently in a Toronto foster homeHi, I'm Nire! 🤍🐾 My name is Nire, and I'm a 3-year-old Shiba Inu mix girl weighing 14.3 kg (31.5 lbs). I have bright round eyes, a happy smile, and a heart full of love just waiting for my forever family. Before I was rescued, life was not very kind to me. I was saved from a shelter where my future was uncertain, but you would never guess it from the way I greet each day. I love people, I love being loved, and I still believe the best is yet to come. When we first meet, I might be a little shy and cautious. New places and unfamiliar faces can make me nervous for a moment. But if you give me a little patience and kindness, I'll soon come over to say hello, ask for pets, and show you my sweet and affectionate side. I enjoy spending time with other dogs, but if I'm being honest, people are my favorite. Nothing makes me happier than going for a walk together, sharing quiet moments, making eye contact, and simply being near the people I love. I dream of a family who wants a loyal companion to share everyday life with.I'm a smaller-sized girl with a calm and gentle personality. I don't need to be the center of attention. I'm happiest quietly staying by your side, watching the world together. As our bond grows, you'll discover that I'm actually quite the little sweetheart who loves affection and may even follow you around the house just to be close to you. I'm fully house trained! Because I enjoy human companionship and respond well to gentle guidance, I believe I'll settle into home life beautifully with a family willing to help me along the way.I've already survived one difficult chapter in my life. Now I'm hoping for a new beginning—a home filled with love, patience, and belonging. I don't need anything fancy. I just want a family to love and a place where I can finally stay forever. Could that family be you?
