Story
Meet Sunshine - Approximately 2–3-year-old - 10lbs - Spayed female Shih Tz She must have another friendly, confident dog in her adoptive home. Sunshine came from a large hoarding situation where she lived with about 60 other Shih Tzus, so much of the world is still new to her. Every day, she becomes a little braver, more curious, and more confident. Another dog is the key to helping Sunshine thrive. She closely watches and follows her foster brother who has shown her that people can be trusted, laps are comfortable, and walks are fun. When he jumps onto the couch or climbs into a lap, Sunshine climbs on right after him. She is sweet, gentle, and even-tempered. She is not barky, reactive, snappy, or demanding. Sunshine has a quiet, thoughtful nature, although she is feeling much spunkier lately and can be stubborn, theatrical, and opinionated. She has perfected the classic Shih Tzu side-eye, eye roll, and Judgement Face. Additional Notes: **She walks beautiful on leash, She loves her dialy neighborhood walks. **Loud or unfamiliar noises can still make her nervous, but she recovers quickly, would prefer a home without young kids **Loves chicken, peanut butter, and the company of other dogs **Sleeps quietly in her crate or on her couch throne **Handles being left alone without difficulty **Is doing much better at house training since the bladder stone is gone and goes potty when taken outside **Benefits from a predictable routine and regular opportunities to go outdoors What makes Sunshine special is watching her discover that the world is not such a frightening place after all. Every day she tries something new, trusts a little more, and lets more of her personality show. Medical: Sunshine comes Spayed, up to date on basic shots, microchipped, fecal testing (negative), 4dx testing (negative), and wellness check completed and cleared for adoption! Sunshine recently had surgery to remove a large bladder stone. She has recovered well and is clearly feeling better. Her veterinarian recommends that she remain on a prescription urinary diet, such as Royal Canin Urinary S/O, which she likes, to help reduce the risk of future urinary stones.

Story
Moose is a 7-year-old, 28 lb. Wheaten Terrier / Poodle mix boy with a big heart and a loyal personality. He is dearly loved by his family, who adopted him 7 years ago, but with young children in the home they can no longer give him the calm environment and attention he needs. Moose is affectionate, playful, smart, and deeply bonded to his adult humans. He loves snuggling, following his people around the house, fetch, tug-of-war, hide-and-seek, and relaxing nearby on work-from-home days. He even gives “hugs” by gently placing his paws on your shoulders and giving kisses. Moose is fully house trained, trusted loose in the house when home alone, and generally very well-mannered indoors. He knows many commands, including sit, down, stay, settle, touch, leave it, take it, rollover, high-five, hug, and get your ball. Moose has lived successfully with another dog and loved his Pomeranian sister for 5 years. He has also done well with doggie daycare and boarding, once given time to adjust. Moose’s best fit is an adult-only home or a home without young children. He has shown stress signals around young kids and would do best in a calmer household. He is also leash reactive and may bark or pull when seeing strangers or unfamiliar dogs, so he needs an experienced adopter willing to manage walks thoughtfully. Moose is treat motivated, loyal, affectionate, and very trainable. With the right home, he has a lot of love and companionship to give. Send us an email if you're interested in Moose at SummitDogRescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly.
