Story
People always tell me Im cute, but my best features are my striking icy blue eyes and having the absolute softest hair ever! Im the perfect-sized guy for adventures (40 lbs), and Im incredibly curious about the world. Ive always lived with another dog and really need a buddy to help me feel more confident. I can be a little shy and anxious when meeting new people, so I hope that my family will let me take things at my own pace. To thrive, I need a calm, quiet and predictable home with a fenced yard so I can feel safe. The rescue people tell me Im between 3-4 years old. I love my crate and enjoy spending time in it. Im still learning how to be a proper gentleman, so Im looking for someone kind and patient to help me out. I crave affection and am actively learning how to ask for it politely (sometimes I get so excited to love you that I jump and nibble gently). Right now, Im also working on my housetraining, but my foster parents say I am 85% of the way there. Also, I love my outdoor walks where I practice my leash manners. More than anything, I want to be near my person. Could that be you? Murphy is in foster in Aurora, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/murphy You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.

Story
I have a 3 yr old black male whoodle (wheaton terrier/poodle mix). We adopted Theo in 2023 from a breeder in Byers, Co. The breeder is Green Valley Kennel. Theo's birthday is 3/23/23. He is up to date on vaccinations, we take him to Goodheart Vet in Lowry which is in Denver. We have 7 and 11 yr old children. Theo is mainly with us and never around any other dogs other than when we take him on walks. He's never been trained. Theo is very energetic and friendly. At first, with new people he is jumpy and curious and once he establishes trust he is fine, but it takes awhile. I groom and wash Theo myself because tends to get nippy with strangers. I have to place a muzzle on Theo when we go to the vet, to the pet washing store and sometimes on walks. Last September, Theo's vet prescribed Trazadone for him to take prior to bathing and grooming. It has worked out well. Theo travels very well on road trips. He loves carrots, celery, gala apples, canned salmon & tuna. Theo is also crate trained.

Story
Meet Sprocket, a 4-year-old Poodle mix with a big personality and a heart full of potential. Sprocket has had a rough start and comes with a history of reactivity and biting. He’s a scared dog who needs a firm, experienced owner to help him feel secure and establish boundaries. Sprocket has had training sessions and responds well to clear, consistent leadership. Once he knows you’re in charge, he’s much more relaxed and doesn’t push back. However, he does react to new people and should wear a muzzle during initial introductions for safety. Despite his challenges, Sprocket has no health issues and thrives on affection from his trusted person. He enjoys being cuddled and will show his sweet side once he’s built trust. If you’re an experienced dog owner ready to provide a structured, loving environment, Sprocket could be a rewarding companion. He’s looking for someone who can help him overcome his fears and show him the love and stability he deserves.

Story
Meet this sweet, people-loving boy! In just a short time with us, it’s clear he’s happiest being close to his humans—whether that’s relaxing on the couch or snoozing in one of his favorite crates. He’s very calm so far and has been a perfect gentleman in the house. He’s still learning how to “dog” a bit and is more interested in people than other dogs right now. He’s been polite and curious with our dogs, mostly watching them and figuring things out at his own pace. Not a single raised lip—just a gentle, sweet soul. He loves the security of a crate and even prefers to eat his meals there. He’s a skinny guy who’s still warming up to treats, but he’s eating well and gaining confidence. He may need a little patience with separation at first (he barked when one of us left until he realized someone was still home), but with time and routine he should settle in nicely. Someone with a yard is a must and that works from home is preferred. No cats. Overall, he’s a calm, affectionate pup who just wants to be someone’s loyal companion. ##2689624##

Story
Orlando is a very good dog; our family just doesn't have the capacity to keep him with small children in the house. We purchased him as a puppy from a reliable breeder. He just turned 4 in November 2025. He likes to run, go on walks, and he loves meeting new people. A good home for him would be where he would have lots of open area, someone that can take him on frequent walks, and someone that can play with him often. He is a standard poodle, so he is a tall boy, which means, He has high energy and needs a family that has the capacity for his high energy.

🌼 Meet Sweety Bear! 🐾 Sweety Bear is a 8 mo old Poodle mix with a gentle heart and lots of puppy sweetness still to share. She's still learning that people are safe but will need time, patience, and a quiet home! 🤎 Dog friendly – She enjoys being around other pups and needs another dog in the home to help build her confidence! 🌿 Grass rolling expert – One of her favorite activities is flopping over and rolling happily in the grass. 🍖 Treat lover – Snacks are a very effective way to win her over. 🐱 Cat neutral – She’s shown little interest in cats so far. 🦮 Learning leash skills – Sometimes she goes into “pancake mode,” but she’s making progress each day. Once Sweety Bear feels safe, she has so much love, loyalty, and affection to give. 🐶💛

Story
Clifford is an adorable, scruffy Poodle / Westie mix who is 15 lbs. We do not DNA test our rescue dogs, so his breed mix is simply our veterinarian's best guess based on his appearance. Clifford is believed to be around 3 years old, although his exact age remains a bit of a mystery. Originally, the veterinarian at the New Mexico shelter estimated he might be closer to 5 or 6 years old because of what appears to be cataracts in his eyes. However, they also noted that this condition could be genetic rather than age related. Based on Clifford's very playful energy, and overall youthful personality, everyone who has gotten to know him believes he is likely much younger, perhaps around 2 to 3 years old. Unfortunately, without knowing his history, there's no way to determine his exact age. While Clifford's vision isn't perfect, you would never guess it from the way he approaches life. He never bumps into things, loves playing fetch, easily finds his toys, and enjoys life to the fullest. Clifford is certainly not fully blind, and his visual limitations don't slow him down one bit. Clifford requires a home with another young, playful dog. He gets bored easily when he doesn't have a buddy, and he really really really thrives with other dogs, so we are requiring he go to a home with another dog. Clifford is wonderfully social and gets along great with everyone he meets, both people and other dogs alike. He has a fun-loving, playful spirit and is definitely on the higher-energy side. Toys are one of his favorite things in the world, and he can happily entertain himself for hours or invite you to join in the fun. His goofy antics, joyful attitude, and puppy-like enthusiasm are absolutely contagious and guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. From Clifford's foster: * * * * "Oh Clifford is so fun! He has a lot of energy so would do best with someone active. He also definitely needs another playful dog in the home! He thrives on play time. Clifford is very very social and friendly and loves every new person and every new dog that he meets! He is potty trained, and crate trained, and does need to be crated when I leave the house or he will try to chew on things. He sometimes chews on things even when I am home, because he is young and bored, but as long as he has lots of toys and another dog friend, he will not feel the need to chew on things! When Clifford first notices someone new approaching him, he may let out a little bark at the unfamiliar figure due to his vision not being the best. But the second they get close enough for him to realize it's a friend (person), he gets excited to meet them! As soon as he realizes you're a friend, his entire body starts wiggling with excitement and happiness. Clifford truly has never met a stranger and absolutely adores people. His loving, friendly personality shines through with everyone he meets, making it easy to see why so many people fall for him so quickly." * * * * Clifford is truly the best of both worlds...a sweet, loving companion who also brings fun, laughter, and playful energy into your home. He's resilient, happy, and ready to share his big personality with a forever family who will adore him just as much as we do. Farfel's Rescue would love to see this wonderful boy in a home with a family (older kids preferred so there's no tail-pulling or awkward handling) or active retirees who have the time and open heart for a very loving and sweet little guy. We'd hate to see this social pup left alone all day while his family works full-time outside of the home. An individual who works from an at-home office or is retired would be a far better choice for Clifford who would be thrilled with periodic loving up and hugs over the course of the day. Clifford has been fully vetted and vaccinated to support Farfel's commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. He has also been neutered in support of Farfel's work to end canine euthanasia due to overpopulation. Clifford is available for adoption now. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet and loving best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Clifford please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Story
There's nothing quite like young dog energy and silliness...and then they put their beautiful heads quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm breath. These very loving and sweet as can be dogs are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them alone and hungry on busy urban streets or at a high-kill shelter scheduled for euthanasia due to a lack of space. Junie, at just 1 year old and 32 lbs was facing the end of her life before it ever really began. Farfel's rescue partners are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this gorgeous girl with the great temperament..they rescued Junie just in time to spare her life. Junie is starting out with great energy. The excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a brand new life. Our wonderful Junie is a Schnauzer / Poodle mix which can be referred as a Schnoodle or maybe a Schnauzadoodle. (Junie's breeds were the opinions of Texas veterinarians. We can't swear to it as we didn't do a DNA test). way this girl is amazing with beautiful golden eyes displaying wisdom far beyond her years. Junie has the potential for a stunning and shining non-shedding (or very lightly-shedding) coat. Her hair is currently shelter-tired but once on a regular protocol of care, it will be cottony-soft and shining with excellent health. Junie will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition. New research is clear that fresh, human grade food is the best choice for all dogs. It offers a healthier option that results in fewer vet visits and the nutrition needed for a longer life. Farfel's choice is Chi Diet (chidog.com) for the gift of excellent nutrition for your dog. Junie is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's also so loving and cuddly. Our sweet Junie would be very excited to be a couch or bed potato and snuggle with her favorite people at the end of an active day. She's also SO smart and very engaging - very typical of the Schnauzer and Poodle breeds. We're open to Junie finding her forever home with an energetic retired couple or individual with the desire to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart pup. Junie enjoys her relationships with all humans and dogs. We would prefer, however, to place her in a home with older kids (tail pulling or rough treatment by young kids will create an adult dog that's fearful of children). Older kids can be active participants in a training regimen and friendship that's so important in a dog's development. Junie enjoys her relationships with other dogs as well and would love playing hard and then enjoying the sunshine together on a beautiful day. This 1 year old (an almost perfect age..old enough to be past babyish behaviors and young enough to have many, many healthy and active years ahead) and 32 lb cutie-pie (a great size for long hikes and then snuggling close all night long) truly lights up when she feels like she's done a good job. Some serious belly rubs and kind words will send her over the moon. Junie would love nothing more than to be a family dog and with a bit of post-shelter confidence and love, she will be overjoyed that she's finally found her forever family. We are searching for a very loving and involved family for Junie. This sensitive girl wouldn't be happy being alone for the long hours of a full-time job outside of the home. A family that works from a home-based office to love Junie up periodically throughout the day would be perfect for this wonderful companion. Active, dog-crazy retirees would also be an excellent match for this girl that has so much love to give as a full- time best friend. Junie doesn't require another dog to be happy. She loves her people dearly and if they're attentive and loving, this sweet and loyal girl will be fulfilled and very happy. If a gentle dog is already part of a family, that's great with Junie as well. She enjoys her time spent in the company of a gentle and playful canine and that dog will become Junie's best friend. Junie will do well with any loving guardian who's invested in spending time with their pup. She's so pleasant and portable that she can be a part of any adventure. It can be a leisurely walk socializing with neighbors, a picnic in the park or a visit with family or friends. A car ride is also always fun, especially if it leads to a fun, dog-loving spot. At day's end, a spot on the bed all night beside her favorite humans will speak to the loving nature of this very sweet dog. Junie will be up to date on her vetting / vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. She will also be spayed to fulfill our commitment to zero population growth in the canine community. Junie will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 7/1/2026. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Junie please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Story
Moose is a 7-year-old, 28 lb. Wheaten Terrier / Poodle mix boy with a big heart and a loyal personality. He is dearly loved by his family, who adopted him 7 years ago, but with young children in the home they can no longer give him the calm environment and attention he needs. Moose is affectionate, playful, smart, and deeply bonded to his adult humans. He loves snuggling, following his people around the house, fetch, tug-of-war, hide-and-seek, and relaxing nearby on work-from-home days. He even gives “hugs” by gently placing his paws on your shoulders and giving kisses. Moose is fully house trained, trusted loose in the house when home alone, and generally very well-mannered indoors. He knows many commands, including sit, down, stay, settle, touch, leave it, take it, rollover, high-five, hug, and get your ball. Moose has lived successfully with another dog and loved his Pomeranian sister for 5 years. He has also done well with doggie daycare and boarding, once given time to adjust. Moose’s best fit is an adult-only home or a home without young children. He has shown stress signals around young kids and would do best in a calmer household. He is also leash reactive and may bark or pull when seeing strangers or unfamiliar dogs, so he needs an experienced adopter willing to manage walks thoughtfully. Moose is treat motivated, loyal, affectionate, and very trainable. With the right home, he has a lot of love and companionship to give. Send us an email if you're interested in Moose at SummitDogRescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly.
