Story
Meet August! Back in early May, we made a visit to a metro area shelter after they had sent out an urgent plea for help. As we were walking through the back rooms of the shelter, where the public doesn’t go, August caught our attention. Not because he was acting crazy trying to get attention, but because he didn’t even lift his head to look at us as we approached his kennel. Not sure if he was scared or shy or what was going on, we opened up his kennel and found that he was actually very sick. As we held him, we could feel him wheezing - he had the dreaded upper respiratory infection so so common in that shelter. There was no way we were leaving him there! August (aka Auggie) has come so so far in the four months he has been with us! From being so sick he couldn’t even lift his head in his kennel at the shelter to super scared of strangers to a sweet happy boy….we are so so proud of his progress! Just goes to show you what a huge difference a little TLC can make and why fostering is such an important part of animal rescue! Auggie is about 7 1/2 years old and great with other dogs and cats. He’s a chill guy who lives for car rides! Even though Auggie has been enjoying the company of his four legged foster brothers, he would also be just fine being an only fur child. All he wants out of life is his very own person with a fairly quiet lifestyle who will take him on plenty of car rides! Interested in adopting Auggie? Email adrienne@rescuemega.org or fill out an adoption application on our website- www.rmgdogs.org PLEASE NOTE: August is not available for adoption to households with children - 18 and up only ##2446898##

Story
Meet Tiggy!  Earlier in the year we rescued Tate and Truman, 2 standard poodles, along with a poodle mix puppy from Upson County after they had been surrendered to animal control. A couple of weeks ago, we found out the same family had just surrendered 3 more standard poodles. We really take the “You don’t leave family behind” philosophy seriously, so even though it had been months since we saved the first group and we REALLY don’t have room for more dogs - we knew we had to save these guys! Teller was in the worst shape. He was completely matted and caked in mud. And his poor eyes so infected. It took hours to get him cleaned up. If you’ve ever had to shave down a severely matted dog, you’ll know it’s very similar to sheering a sheep - the hair just comes off in one huge piece. Thankfully, the girls Tiggy and Teagan, had been groomed before at some point and were in much better shape.  Our unconfirmed theory is that Teagan (grey) is mom to Teller (black) and Tiggy (blonde). Teller and Tiggy both appear to be about a year old so we think they are probably littermates. All three of these amazing poodles are super super sweet; great with dogs of all sizes; and cats!!  These guys are all looking for tried and true Standard Poodle homes. To know poodles is to love them, but these 3 have all been failed by humans once and we won’t let that happen again - so we really do want homes that know all the good, bad, and ugly that comes with having Standard Poodles as family members. Does that sound like you?? Email adrienne@rescuemega.org or fill out an adoption application on our website- www.rmgdogs.org PLEASE NOTE: Previous first hand ownership experience with Standard Poodles is a strict requirement to adopt ##2579216##

Story
Meet Eedy!  We rescued Eedy back in May 2025 from a metro area shelter and it’s taken this long (and a lot of TLC) to get her ready for adoption! Severe upper respiratory infection; malnutrition; skin infection….this poor girl had it all when she came to us. But as you can see from the pictures, she’s a new woman now! It’s extremely difficult to guess age on dogs that have been neglected as much as poor Eedy has throughout her lifetime, but we’re going with somewhere between 9-11 years old. She definitely acts like she is on the lower end of that age range now that she’s feeling so so much better. Eedy is great with other dogs and cats, but truly all she wants out of life now is a nice quiet spot in the sun to nap and her very own person to trail along after, helping in the garden on nice days or curling up in front of a cozy fire on a cool evening.   Eedy is on some medications that she will likely require for life - thyroid medicine and apoquel. It is possible that with further study to determine what she is allergic to, and maybe dietary changes, the apoquel might be able to be discontinued.  Interested in adopting Eedy and showing her that the best is yet to come in her Golden Years?
