She quickly wriggled her way into our hearts with how sweet and loving she is and she would make a great addition to a lucky home of her own soon! A Note from the Foster: 💗 Meet Wrenlee – A Gentle Soul Ready for Her Forever Home 💗 Wrenlee is an 11-pound Shih-Poo with the softest heart and the sweetest spirit. This precious girl clearly carries the marks of a hard past — likely spent in a breeder environment — but she’s learning every day what love and safety truly feel like. Wrenlee is shy and skittish at first, but once she trusts you, she becomes your little shadow. She’s completely devoted to her person and wants to be touching you at all times — and just when you think she’s snuggled as close as she can get, she’ll find a way to be even closer! 💕 She eats her meals like a champ and is thriving in her foster home. She’s currently working on her potty skills and doing well with a consistent routine. She loves spending time in the big fenced yard, where she feels safe to explore at her own pace. A patient family will need to help her continue learning about walks and building confidence on a leash, which is still new for her. Crates are not for her — after spending too much of her life likely confined, she’s earned the right to be your baby now. Wrenlee would do best as an only dog or with a family willing to patiently help her learn to share attention. Her soft waves are just beginning to grow back after being shaved, and soon her beautiful chocolate curls will shine again — a perfect reflection of her blossoming spirit. Story
Elliana They gave me a fancy name at last! Can you believe it? I have been used as a breeder dog for years and years and then dumped at the local pound with a mammary gland tumor that you could play tennis with!! Who does that!!! At least that is what my foster mom thinks my life has been like. I sat there in a cage at animal control for 4 weeks before anyone would think about pulling me out of there but my foster mom said that she had to take me home so that I would have a chance to be a beloved pet before I die. Not that I am planning to do that anytime soon, but you never know. Anyhow, I went to the vet right away and had that big nasty thing taken off my stomach and the vets knew right away what it was and what it was from. They took out the baby making bits as well, so I won’t have to go through having my babies and then losing them right away to being just a baby and money making factory for somebody. Sheesh….get a job!! I have some issues, I won’t lie, but I am starting to kind of get used to being out of a cage, where I learned to circle around and around as there wasn’t a lot of space in those things. I can walk in a straight line and the more I get time outside, the more I am enjoying the fresh air and smells in the grass. I will revert to circles when I am nervous but Rome wasn’t built in a day and I have only had freedom for a couple of months now. I don’t have many teeth, as the ones I did have were rotted and broken from trying to eat the bars I suppose. I startle easily from the lack of being held and loved in my former life, and will try to “gum” you if I pick me up too quickly. But speaking to me and touching me before you pick me up will let me know you are there and going to be gentle with me. I am still getting used to the being held part, and sometimes can’t tolerate it very long, but I am learning and going slow is really helpful to me. I am learning what good food tastes like, and what a soft bed feels like, and while I have pretty limited vision to see things, I can follow my nose and it helps me to find everything I need to get around. Foster mom leaves me a puppy pad to potty on in the house if I have to go at night, and I am pretty good at using it. It took a while to figure out that is what it was for, but also, if I potty outside after meals, I am good if I keep to a schedule. So that is my story. If you are interested in giving a blind old lady a soft landing for the rest of my life, let me know. Local adoption in Texas only please.
