Story
Crimson is being fostered in VA. Crimson is blind and has kidney disease. Crimson Update – April 1, 2026: Crimson has settled into his foster home, making friends with his foster parents and the four other blind dogs who live in the home. He now knows all about evening sofatime with his foster mom and the other pups, and, after a belly and head rub, takes a nap. He is doing a great job learning to go up and down the two steps from the deck into the yard and then back into the house again. And, with the warmer weather, he likes to take a quick roll in the grass when he goes out to do his business. Crimson does have dry eye now, so is on daily Optimmune (eye ointment). He does a very good job at medication time. For more information about this sweet boy, read what his foster home wrote about him in February 2026. See below. Crimson is a friendly little guy who loves belly rubs! If you would like to know more about this special pup, read on! Crimson is from Florida. His family could no longer care for him and so they turned him over to the Blind Dog Rescue Alliance. He traveled to his Virginia BDRA foster home in January 2026 and made friends all along the way. Crimson has settled into his foster home quite well! There are four other blind dogs in the home and Crimson gets along just fine with each of them. He is happy to share a bed and doesn’t mind if a dog bumps into him. He ignores the family cat. At night, he settles easily into his bed and sleeps through the night. He is housetrained – not a single accident yet! He has a deep bark and, when he first arrived, he barked fairly often but now that he is learning the routine, he barks only occasionally (usually when anticipating a meal!). As mentioned, he loves belly rubs and he enjoys head rubs too. He also likes toys. Crimson is blind, diagnosed with SARDS several years ago. SARDS (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome) is a condition that causes rapid and irreversible blindness due to changes within the retina. In addition, he arrived at his foster home with ear infections that are in the process of being treated. He hears well though and he doesn’t let his blindness bother him at all. His eyes are currently healthy although he does have some clear discharge at times. Crimson also has been diagnosed with kidney disease/kidney failure along with high blood pressure. He is on a prescription kidney diet (Purina) and also on Benazepril twice a day. We don’t know all the details about Crimson’s medical history before he arrived at his foster home and – as is true with any rescue dog – we can’t predict what the future holds for his health. Anyone interested in adopting Crimson should first speak with their vet about canine kidney disease so there is an understanding of this disease, its progression, and how it is treated. Crimson has not spent time with children and, although he is such a nice dog, he should be adopted into a home with older children or adults only. And he should always be supervised when he is with young children, as all dogs should be. If you think you can provide this sweet, gentle dog the wonderful forever home he deserves, complete an application today! BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Bella is a sweet, loyal Shih Tzu girl looking for a very special forever home. At about 10 years young, this beautiful lady is full of love and companionship, and she dreams of being someone’s devoted sidekick. Bella thrives on being close to her person—she’ll happily follow you from room to room, ride along on car trips, and walk nicely by your side on a leash. At home, she’s a perfect little lady. She does not require a crate and will quietly wait for you by the door until you return. 💖 Bella is currently on a healthy weight-loss journey and is doing great! She weighs about 16 pounds. She does require some simple daily care, including eye drops and a liver supplement, and she handles both like a champ. 💙 Special Medical Needs Bella was recently diagnosed with Cushing’s disease, so she is looking for a dedicated adopter willing to help her stay healthy and comfortable. Her care includes: Daily medication (approximately $250/month) A low-fat, low-sodium, high-protein diet to support her weight and organ health While Bella may need a little extra care, she will repay you with unconditional love, loyalty, and companionship every single day. 👑 Personality & Home Requirements Best as an only dog (she loves being queen of the castle!) Cat-friendly Quiet and easygoing (with a little adorable snoring 😴) Loves head rubs… kisses are optional 😉 Bella is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm-negative, and on monthly prevention. Her adoption donation is $200. Bella is currently in a foster home, and we are requesting an approved application prior to a meet and greet. 💕 Bella is searching for a big-hearted adopter who understands that sometimes the most special dogs need just a little extra—and give back so much more. Could that be you?

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Maggie Adorable Maggie is a sweet and loving companion who loves being with her people. All she needs is someone to give her a day or so to warm up then she shows her true personality. Please peek at her video below and see how playful and cuddly she can be. She is perfectly house trained and loves little walks or wandering around a yard during the day. Maggie came to Pet Rescue by Judy after her previous owners had difficulty managing her interactions with another dog, including some toy-guarding behaviors. Since being in foster care, Maggie has coexisted well with the family dog and even did well meeting cats.   Personality & Behavior Sweet, goofy, and affectionate once she feels safe Initially shy and reserved with new people Bonds deeply with her person after a few days of settling in When visitors come over, Maggie may choose to ignore them—she prefers to observe from a distance until she feels comfortable. Once she meets people a few times she is loving and welcoming. Care Needs Requires regular grooming Because of her long body, it’s recommended to: Provide steps or ramps to beds and couches Minimize excessive jumping to protect her back over time Final Thoughts Maggie may take a little time to come out of her shell, but once she does, she becomes a deeply loyal and loving companion. If you’re willing to go slow and earn her trust, Maggie will reward you with endless affection and companionship.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 24, 2026, 9:01 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Diggi is the sweetest, most loving baby. He wants attention, enjoys cuddles, walks, and plays well with the other dogs. Diggi even enjoys riding in the car.  He is not a good fit for aprtments or shared wall condos/townhomes as he will bark loudy when left alone. Diggi is still a puppy and would be best in a home where his humans are around much of the day and/or another canine buddy to hang with. As a ShihTzu/Yorkie mix, owners should be up for regular 6 week grooming appointments to keep his coat maintained.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 24, 2026, 9:01 am
